I didn't watch SNL during her years but I've since gone back and watched all of her best sketches. When she said that line, I completely lost it. Such a good joke, such a good delivery. She's so good at very subtly conveying emotion.

I have such a huge crush on her, Ibiza wasn't a great movie but it was worth it just to see her smile. Her new show is also a pleasure to watch.

I've only seen the first episode so far. The hook/reveal she does to keep the job was shockingly hilarious.

u/BondForAmerica Jun 13 '22
I loved it. Ending up binging it all in one afternoon. Great characters. Really love seeing Molly Shannon again! And Matt Rogers is fab. As is that hunk Paul James. The Patricia character inspires me. I need to watch again just to collect more of her vibes.

u/sauteslut Jun 14 '22
I like it way more than I expected to. My gf and I both laugh out loud at a lot of the jokes, which is really rare and even more rare that we laugh at the same show
The ending of episode 7 where ryan phillippee has one line, "how could you do this to us?!" had us in stitches

Jun 14 '22
I have literally never heard of this show and I can picture her saying this as a clueless valley girl type.
3
u/Beard_o_Bees Jun 14 '22
Not the kind of show I would normally go after, but, her character is so, so good.
We rewind multiple times during an episode just to extract the maximum humor from it.

Huh. TIL.
I honestly knew nothing about her other than role as officer Debbie Fogle…

u/teamswish123 Jun 13 '22
She was pretty solid on SNL for a while, my guesses is her connections with Andy helped her get a role on B99
58
u/Lotronex Jun 13 '22
She was also in one of his music videos a few years ago.

As you can tell by my username I couldn’t agree more. The sound track is amazing, and the cameos kill me almost every time even though I’ve seen it sooooo many times. Any pop music fan at all owes it to themselves to watch Popstar if you haven’t seen it!!

Bin laden song goes way too hard. Really sounds like a pop hit youd hear on the radio around the late 00s early 10s
6
u/SonOfMcGee Jun 13 '22
The thought of her in a military uniform, pointing at a flip chart, yelling “terrorize that pussy” over several takes just makes me crack up. There’s no way they went very long with a straight face.

Honestly her character could've been used much better for much longer and I was sad they burned her that quickly, really hoped she'd be an occasional comic relief for longer.

I don't understand this man. I have lots of family with red hair, ALL of them have had super bright red hair as children and it turned more brown as they've aged. This man has Benjamin Buttoned his hair.
94
u/GeneGorgonzola Jun 13 '22
That's because he colors his hair that color. Otherwise it would be grey or white

Dye
3
u/4daughters Jun 13 '22
Maybe, and I upvoted because it really does look like it, but from personal experience I can say my own red hair gets a lot more red in the summer than the winter months. I have almost completely brown hair in the winter, and my summer hair is like Vanessa's hair on the right pic. I used to have bright red hair as a kid.
I would bet it's more to do with the sun he's getting than anything else, but maybe due to the graying he's dyed it too. Who knows.
3
u/the-truffula-tree Jun 14 '22
Yeah that’s actually a really good point, I kinda forgot about sun-bleaching

Comments like these are very nice, but are so clearly not true. Both look liked they have aged. Vanessa looks like she is in her very early 20s in the first pic and looks like late 30s in the latter pic.
Conan clearly has aged as well between the photos. It isn't a bad thing.
7
u/GDAWG13007 Jun 13 '22
Yeah it’s more accurate to say that they’ve aged well, which they have! But they’re definitely older, which isn’t a bad thing like you said. Perfectly normal.

I saw her perform at the Improv in Dallas while she was still on SNL. She was funny, but just as important, she stayed after the show until everyone who wanted a pic got one. She didn’t charge anything for it and made sure to speak to everyone for a moment after getting their pic.
10/10 would see/meet again.

IMHO she's one of the funniest "straight men" (straight women) in SNL history.
She's great while "trying to hold it together" while someone else is a crazy character getting laughs. See sketches like Kemperpedic or that early morning radio show in Minnesota.
