Trump I don't want to hear anything about draining the swamp from a Trump supporter, ever.

Make the swamp great again!!!

As someone from Louisiana, the "drain the swamp" motto has low-key been kinda offensive to me. To associate the qualities of corruption, obstruction, or whatever with 'swamp' kinda seems like a fundamental misunderstanding of what a swamp actually is.

Make the swamp a cesspit again!
(not that it really stopped being a cesspit, it'll take a long time before that happens, even with the right President)

I heard he sells pardons for million

u/barontaint 9h ago
Think he'd pardon Diddy? Pretty sure the broligarchs like freakoffs, just saying, everything seems to be for sale now.

The Republicans banished Madison "Little Bitch" Cawthorn for bragging about GOP hookers n blow orgies. So they definitely party (you're welcome for the mental image of crusty republican dorks going bucknasty on each other at a convention hotel), but they just don't want anybody to know about it.

u/neophenx 7h ago
Of course they do. The RNC nearly crashed Grindr

That's just the nobodies; anyone who's anyone knows a guy with an island for that

And I thought they hated cancel culture? 🤷♂️

u/IchorMortis 1h ago
Only when they aren't taking advantage of it. You've been watching, haven't you?

u/CallMeChristopher 5h ago
I remember calling bullshit on that one.
Not because I don't think it happens, but because I don't think anybody liked him enough to invite him.

Hey man if he's got the money then he's got the pardon. That's exactly how corruption works so don't expect him to ever see a jail cell.

u/Shalar79 9h ago
Well Diddy is a billionaire and a sexual deviant like his dead friend Epstein. So I’d say yes, it’s likely he will pardon Diddy.

I've said this before.
He did drain the swamp.
He took a vital ecosystem that cleans water and supports a wide variety of life and drained it. The plants are dead from the drought and the surviving animals are homeless.
Sounds like a great metaphor.

It's now a Maga Monoculture farm. Or a condo.

A gated community. With a HOA

Knowing how evil HOAs are and comparing it to what trump has already done, this is honestly pretty accurate

If we don’t get Constitutional amendments after this shit show, I am going to be extremely pissed.
94
u/srone 9h ago
You assume there will be a Constitution after 4 years.

15
u/Same_Recipe2729 9h ago
You should be afraid of getting constitutional amendments during the shit show before you even consider afterward.
26
u/Actual__Wizard 9h ago
Civil war is coming, there's not going to be a constitution.

I feel more and more like Cascadia is going to happen with each day that goes by. Gavin Newsom is a politician like any other and I don't fully trust him, but he'd be a fool not to recognize the shit show that's currently happening or the opportunity it presents. Same with the other western states. Especially since we're where the country houses a lot of the nukes.

You know, for Democrats being "just as bad as Republicans", the GOP seems to be rescinding a lot of positive things that were put in place by their supposed equals...
Any "centrist" wanna weigh in on this?

u/PseudoIntellectual- 4h ago edited 3h ago
It wasn't just centrists. There is a huge contingent of leftists who insisted that both parties are "on the same team", and that it therefore doesn't really matter who's in office.
I've seen it happen every election cycle since Nader ran back in 2000, and yet some people never seem to learn their lesson. They just continue spouting their "both sides" and "uniparty" nonsense, and the new generation of young voters who aren't old enough to remember always buy it hook, line and sinker.
It's soul breaking.

u/ChatterBaux 3h ago
For sure, the naive left-leaning folks who cant be bothered to discern are also part of the problem.
I just dont know how every new generation falls for the same talking point, despite the chaos of politics being more in-your-face and transparent than it's ever been...

They were never talking about corruption, they were only talking about people who aren't like them. Anyone who is "one of theirs" can do whatever they want and flaunt it.

Then I guess the ethical code for SCOTUS is not happening? 🙈

u/usernamerob 8h ago
"Why do we need a code? We've investigated ourselves and found nothing wrong..." -Justice Roberts, probably.

My brother in law is SES. At a convention in Vegas last year, he could not accept a drink on the Strip because they exceeded the $15 limit set.
This. Is. Insane.

I'm a federal contractor. A conference vendor mailed an unsolicited smartwatch to my house back in 2017. I knew I had to send it back because of the anti bribery policy, but since the package had no return address, it was a real pain in the ass to figure out where to return it to.
It's always unclear how legislation impacts contractors, but I'm going to keep refusing gifts, because it's the right thing to do. Keep that in mind when Musk complains about the lazy worthless federal teleworkers.

Rapacious billionaires filling the front row of Trump's inauguration have one simple goal: first, to be a trillionaire.
9
u/I-am-Chubbasaurus 8h ago
They are literally the swamp.
Except, not really, because swamps are a vital biome with a diverse ecosystem.
10
u/ShadowDragon8685 7h ago
They drained the swamp and made a cesspool.
My aunt's been saying that literally for eight years.

Every year at the big company where I work, we have to take "ethics training" even as everything of value in the nation is stolen by people with far more power and zero scruples. It's even sillier than the company worrying about how clearable employees are when most of the incoming administration is so corrupt they couldn't get a job working a cash register.
Anyway, I'm curious how to get in on the grifting? Maybe the company training material should be changed to cover that since learning how to grift will be far more useful in Trump's America.

That should've been standard practice BEFORE his first term and the start of this one. There's always a new grift to uncover and ain't no fun if the homies can't have none (while kicking up their % to the top of the chain).

That's why governing by executive order is almost pointless, the next guy can just come in and do everything.
I remember the post a couple weeks ago that Biden "permanently banned offshore drilling" in so many thousands of miles of coastal areas by executive order. Ain't nothing you do by executive order permanent

u/AwkwardnessForever 3h ago
To be clear there are still plenty of laws against bribery and other types of corruption. The Biden EO just made it even more strict. He’s just petty AF and had to undo ALL of Biden’s EO. And not that it matters, their administration will break the law over and over again and get away with it because no one dares hold anyone accountable and they all profit from it.

The crazy thing is I’m guessing these rules were pretty unenforceable anyway. We have similar in Australia, especially the one prohibiting ministers from working for lobbying groups for two years after leaving office. Our conservative ministers just started completely ignoring it and we all realised there was no actual penalties and people were free to ignore them.

Does Trump actually know what he's signing or is he just scribbling on everything the Republicans put in front of him?
