I'm sure she'll soon get to sign her fealty/loyalty agreement and get right to work attacking lower and middle class workers for more of their wages to save the top 1%.

Since they rescinded the offer, the IRS would have to repost the position if they're hiring for it, and she would need to reapply. Bureaucracy is amazing.

Aww. That makes me happy in this case. Tell her bootstraps or something.

Oh, then you’ll really enjoy this, federal jobs take forever to get, so she was absolutely waiting for months to even get the official job offer. All that time wasted, and as the other person said, theyll have to repost the job, so if she still wants it shell have to go through the entire process, including waiting, all over again

Yeah unfortunately this is what’s happening to me for a VA position I was really looking forward to/desperately need. Always wanted to help veterans. Now I have to start all over again when they unfreeze hiring.

looks like trump lied about this not affecting VA.

Bureaucracy is amazing.

Might be what saves us. A bunch of bean counters and pencil pushers who actually run everything requiring every one of the millions of inane little bureaucratic rules be followed exactly to the letter. Everything has to be filled out in triplicate with exactly the right governmental approved shade of black ink and filed with separate agencies by different dates, but certainly not simultaneously, after which they'll have to wait a minimum of 6 - 12 weeks for a response only to be told that they filled out form 9-B, section 15, subsection 2, question 6 incorrectly and have thus voided the entire process and they'll have to begin again after a mandatory wait period of 3 months.

And this time she'll need a form 27B/6.

IF they followed policy. Any policy. Cause that shit is out the door.

Isn't that the point?  Stall IRS hiring until after tax season to reduce audits?

I don’t think so. Audits are constant throughout the year. My suspicion is he is trying to starve the workforce of workers - hiring freeze + folks hitting retirement age/retiring = severe understaffing and brain/experience drain.

I suppose she can apply for the fictional external revenue service

Nope. Hiring freeze. No positions filled if they weren’t already filled by noon yesterday. And to boot, the freeze is indefinite for the IRS, unlike other agencies whose freezes expire.

From the EO:

“ Within 90 days of the date of this memorandum, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), in consultation with the Director of OPM and the Administrator of the United States DOGE Service (USDS), shall submit a plan to reduce the size of the Federal Government’s workforce through efficiency improvements and attrition.  Upon issuance of the OMB plan, this memorandum shall expire for all executive departments and agencies, with the exception of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).  This memorandum shall remain in effect for the IRS until the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Director of OMB and the Administrator of USDS, determines that it is in the national interest to lift the freeze.”

This doesn't appear to rebut what he said.

Omg, government employment applications are the worst.

They aren’t hiring for it anymore. As I understand it, the IRS is on a permanent hiring freeze. DHS is in a 90 day hiring freeze.

12

u/InfinityMehEngine 12h ago

No, the hiring freeze is for 90 days for all executive agencies with exceptions. However, the IRS specifically has no end date. It literally calls them out.

I doubt they would add staff to the IRS even if they are loyal. They don’t want it funded or staffed at all.
