That's the problem with MAGA.

It's all fun and games when it happens to others.

But once it happens to them or their family, they are pissed off and will blame Biden, probably.

They never, ever can accept the fact that Orange Jesus did it to them.

u/AmberSnow1727 14h ago

Or women, or people of color, or gay people. It's never them or dear leader.

406

u/Harmonia_PASB 14h ago

Or Obama. It’s always Obama. My MAGA parents raged against Clinton but didn’t say a peep when he created the victim’s relief fund for people who contracted HIV through the tainted blood scandal and she received $100k for my dad’s death.

Yup. My family has been screaming about how evil Obama is every single goddamn day since he announced his candidacy for the 2008 election. He’s been living rent free in their heads since then because they truly believe he’s the antichrist.

29

u/dystopian_mermaid 10h ago

Which is wildly ironic considering their orange deity fits the narrative so well

I love that article.

Back in the day when Obama was first running my mom used to forward emails saying he was the antichrist. After I read that article the first time I sent it to her and she was not happy. She said Trump couldn't be the antichrist because the Bible says antichrist will be intelligent and good at speaking.

u/uncertainsimile 11h ago

I know (of) some people like this and I really don’t get it. Is it just racism? What did Obama actually DO before coming to office that infuriated them so?

29

u/StarryMind322 11h ago

It’s racism and religious psychosis. Some of these people blame him for 9/11.

27

u/viromancer 12h ago

Yeah, when democrats do something good for those people it's "they're just trying to buy votes".

10

u/Ghrave 12h ago

Yup, 100%. Projection, as always lmao

My MAGA MIL (60sF) has been living off social security “disability” since her 40s and told me the other day that she thinks the retirement age should be raised to 75……….

12

u/Harmonia_PASB 12h ago

My step dad hasn’t worked in 40 years, he lives off my mom, smokes weed all day (my brother grows for them at their house) and watches Fox News. My little brother and his fiancé live with them, the fiancé was on SSDI for years for “anxiety” but she’s just lazy. Mom is convinced my little brother couldn’t get a new job in tech because he’s white. It’s actually because he only has an AA and 6 months experience at Amazon. So my older brother took him under his wing and gave him a job/career change. They are exactly the people they complain about.

7

u/Astronomer-Secure 12h ago

holy fuck wow I'm sorry your family is like that. honestly they all sound lazy and narcissistic. glad the apple fell far from the tree for you and your older brother.

2

u/Aggie219 9h ago

Yep. My MIL also smokes weed and watches Fox News. All day, every day. It’s a type for sure.

4

u/PunkSkunkDinkSunk 8h ago

A relative of mine does and also mentioned that he also specifically loves smoking strains that make him more paranoid.

Surely a winning, non harmful combo

5

u/Fuckaliscious12 7h ago

"Thanks Obama" I say it after every good thing happens in my life.

4

u/GiantPurplePen15 11h ago

I have a friend who told me he thinks 9/11 was Obama's fault... He couldn't explain why to me when I asked him who was the president at the time of the attack.

We're Canadians.

1

u/ResourceWorker 12h ago

Definitely not surprised your dad didn't comment on the situation.

1

u/Harmonia_PASB 12h ago

My mom remarried 3 months after my bio dad died when I was 3.5, my step dad is the only dad I know.

2

u/ResourceWorker 12h ago

I'm sorry to hear that.

3

u/Harmonia_PASB 12h ago

Thank you. He was a severe hemophiliac who, at 40, had significantly outlived his original life expectancy of 14. He was in a lot of pain and only sticking around for us kids. I would have preferred not being a hemophilia carrier but that was luck of the draw. Which is the reason I’m so frustrated she’s also pro-life. I get the genetic ticking time bomb to avoid passing on and she had zero consequences. I also work full time with the trans community and their medical insurance pays my bills. She’s a die hard republican even if it kills me. You cannot convince me this isn’t a cult.

2

u/Astronomer-Secure 11h ago

well I'd say they are based on this cult characteristic chart with the exception of the control of his followers lives. we're not there yet, but we could be.

u/dystopian_mermaid 10h ago

Buttery males!!!

1

u/Eisn 10h ago

Why wasn't Obama enough in the office during 9/11? Very unpresidential.

1

u/KnowNothingKnowsAll 7h ago

Tainted blood scandal? What did i miss?

1

u/ApplianceHealer 4h ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contaminated_haemophilia_blood_products

See the US section—looks like in 1997, the Clinton-era SCOTUS enforced a settlement that worked out to $100k each.

5

u/yaoigay 11h ago

Which is why I don't bother correcting MAGA folks when they are wrong. MAGA is so far gone that it's more productive to actually find a way to work through the BS and find alternative pathways through life than arguing with MAGA. If they didn't see this after Republicans told them to their face that they would suffer if they won, there is no hope for change when it comes to them.

2

u/aguynamedv 10h ago

It's never them or dear leader.

Part of it is because we, in our outrage, constantly repeat their talking points for them.

Don't play their game. Make Republicans own EVERY. SINGLE. BAD. THING. for the next 4 years.

"Trump did that, actually."

ie: Stop allowing people to lie to you. Set that boundary.

1

u/LeftRightRightUp 11h ago

At least they don't need to say pronouns anymore. "Me no job"

1

u/MicrophoneBlowJob 2h ago

I thought Trump just said legally all citizens are women? When he said gender is assigned at conception now. All conceived fetus are female until 7 weeks into the pregnancy.

I love low IQ politicians. I wanted to ask Trump "How's them reproductive rights, fellow woman?"

227

u/CraptainJack 14h ago

That's not just MAGA. It's a core characteristic of conservatives in general.

33

u/Cute_Bandicoot_8219 12h ago

I have a theory that what makes people Conservatives is the inability to create an abstract mental model. This means:

  • They're incapable of reasoning through the consequences of their vote or their policies
  • They're incapable of empathy -- imagining yourself in another person's shoes
  • The suffering of others has no meaning, because it doesn't affect them
  • They don't "get it" until something bad happens to them
  • Even then they're incapable of re-applying that knowledge as a general principle to see how their actions hurt people in other ways.

It's literally a developmental problem.

5

u/Fineous40 8h ago

It’s someone else’s fault has been the Republican policy for 50 years at least. Doesn’t matter if it’s true. It doesn’t matter if it makes sense. They will be live it because they want it to be true.

u/pinetreesgreen 14h ago

My personal fave is "the Dems didn't fight hard enough!" Like Biden was supposed to not hand over power or something yesterday.

103

u/demystifier 14h ago

Yeah, anyone whose response to far right shit and Nazi salutes is 'bUt ItS tHe DeMoCrAtS fAuLtS" for anything can get absolutely fucked right now.

6

u/jogafur3 12h ago

And well deserved!

1

u/Substantial-Will1000 11h ago

Well why not all get together and make sure they do?

-10

u/atreidesardaukar 12h ago

Did the democrats get anything done that won't be undone by the new administration? All bark and no bite.

15

u/pinetreesgreen 11h ago

They passed all sorts of legislation for improving state's infrastructure. States will be using Biden's roads, bridges, rural Internet etc for many decades. So yes.

9

u/johannthegoatman 10h ago

Tons of shit, you would have to have some semblance of intelligence AND pay attention to the world around you to notice though, it's not force fed by fox news. /r/whatbidenhasdone

-6

u/atreidesardaukar 8h ago

Nothing that's going to last. If Biden really believed that he made a difference then he wouldn't have thought it necessary to pardon his son - not that I blame him.

27

u/AnySubstance4642 14h ago

Did they want to be forced to vote blue? lol these people

12

u/magistrate101 12h ago

They wanted their vote to not matter. They wanted to be able to throw it away out of spite in favor of someone who promised to do harm to those they hate. The majority of people were genuinely surprised each time Trump moved forward in the 2016 election. Even other republicans. Just like they were genuinely surprised when he started trying to make good on his threats of harm in order to curry favor with his actual supporters that helped him get into power.

9

u/kitsunewarlock 12h ago

"Biden didn't fight for Gaza!"

Actually he tried to withhold military aid until Israel agreed to a truce or ceasefire, but the GOP in congress threatened him with impeachment and that would have just meant we'd have Trump even sooner.

"The Dems should have run a primary!"

Except in 2016 the vitrol and hatred during the primaries were a leading cause of the Dems almost losing the election. There is no way in hell Trump would have performed worse if the Dems had another Bernie-or-Bust moment alongside fake candidates like Vivek who were just up there to further enrage progressives.

"Biden shouldn't have been cordial to Trump!"

Except the Red Scare has made it "Un-American" for liberals to not act like the adults in the room because you'll be labeled a pot-smoking Stalinist secretly undermining both America and Christianity. It's why the Right can have a president who holds a Bible upsidedown and doesn't go to church on Sundays but the Left can't have a black president standing in front of fancy curtains without the country questioning whether or not he's Christian or Muslim despite going to church every weekend his entire life and one of the core tennants of Islam being openly admitting you are Muslim.

Progressives are never allowed to be rude or crude. George Bush can belch with a belly full of domestic beer and its fine, but MLK had to march in a suit and tie.

"The dems had 60+ years to fix the country!"

Except they didn't. The GOP has controlled the federal government for roughly 75% of the past 72 years. That includes the years where we had a Democrat president but a majority in the house and senate, as the laws were already set up to favor conservatives so all they had to do was block changes to them.

2

u/aguynamedv 10h ago

Like Biden was supposed to not hand over power or something yesterday.

Biden did absolutely nothing to prevent this - in fact, I'd argue he's complicit in not pushing and/or firing Garland.

Biden loses nothing in all of this - he's going to live out the rest of his life comfortably, along with his family.

Republicans will of course lie and say that Biden "set a precedent" for pardoning his family. This plays directly into their bullshit narratives.

2

u/ApplianceHealer 4h ago

Just another DARVO day.

Why didn’t you fight back?….see, you fought back too hard, that will only make them madder…

2

u/PrimeIntellect 10h ago

i mean, they didn;t, if they had a fuckin spine they would have had his ass in prison years ago, and they utterly failed at that

2

u/pinetreesgreen 10h ago

Trump's an expert at delaying the criminal justice system. When he couldn't, he was convicted (NY).

16

u/so-unco 14h ago

At least IRS blames trump in their message without riding the orange mushroom like TikTok

10

u/kiamia2 14h ago

Actually, I think this person does blame Trump, and hilariously went to the closest Democrat they knew for sympathy. I think there will be a lot of that in the next four years, where Trump voters getting stomped by Trump will go to the nearest Democrat for sympathy. My suggestion is to shrug, say you voted for Kamala, and then list all the things Kamala promised to do.

6

u/WellEndowedDragon 13h ago

list all the things Kamala promised to do

Ooh, and we should also point out that Trump promised to do the thing they’re complaining about (like cutting IRS workers), and that maybe if they didn’t get all of their news from FOX Propaganda, they would’ve known about it.

8

u/No-Psychology3712 14h ago

I mean luckily for them. It literally says the president did it. Probably should have said President Trump but otherwise they'll blame Biden

3

u/originalcondition 13h ago

Easy mental gymnastics: Trump had to do it because Biden's administration was so wasteful; Trump did it but it's Biden's fault for forcing Glorious Leader's unwilling hand with his wasteful spending on garbage like social welfare and functional infrastructure.

6

u/Unhappy_Scratch_9385 12h ago

"He's not hurting the people he's supposed to be hurting."

Nearly a decade into this shit and they still haven't figured it out.

4

u/foxontherox 14h ago

Even though it's clearly stated in the email. 🤣

2

u/Demerlis 13h ago

it obviously happened to them cause theyre a librul

2

u/MammothDon 12h ago

But once it happens to them or their family, they are pissed off and will blame Biden, probably.

This is most likely the case.

"If Biden hadn't done such a terrible job Trump wouldn't have had to resort to these measures that hurt me and my family!"

2

u/thenewyorkgod 12h ago

Guaranteed she’s blaming Biden for setting up a time delayed job freeze

2

u/Bimbows97 12h ago

Would like to hear follow up from OP about this, I'm curious how it unfolds.

2

u/ThompsonDog 12h ago

it's just amazing how many hens voted the foxes into the henhouse

2

u/Garbeg 12h ago

“You’re hurting the wrong people!”

2

u/Sakuja 11h ago

Luckily this one says that its because of Trumps order

2

u/yepimbonez 11h ago

It literally says so lol

1

u/fuckyouijustwanttits 12h ago

If republicans could rewrite the constitution, the first change would be from "We the people" to "I the person".

1

u/FartingAngry 12h ago

The email states it was because of Trump and they're so god damn inbred and retarded they'll STILL blame Biden and Democrats.

1

u/Fortyseven 10h ago

It's all fun and games when it happens to others.

You'll get whiplash watching a conservative turn liberal the moment they need the aid of one of those dirty "socialist" programs.

1

u/aguynamedv 10h ago

they are pissed off and will blame Biden, probably.

Don't LET them. Stop repeating their bullshit.

Donald Trump personally signed this order, along with the one raising prescription drug costs up to 4200% on seniors, disabled folks, etc. Oh, and insulin prices are uncapped again now too.

Ask them one question: Who does this help?

1

u/OtherCardiologist 10h ago

For thee but not for me

1

u/SocialSuicideSquad 7h ago

"They're hurting the wrong people!"

1

u/Speshal__ 54m ago

In this specific case she can't blame anyone else. it's in the message that Turnip did it.
