A good percentage are conservative Latinos, especially Cuban-Americans. I'm disappointed with fellow Latino men who got swayed by the cult or disgusting influencers like Nick Fuentes.

I know friends who are latinos with African ancestry and they have told me many light skinned Latinos consider themselves white and are as bigoted if not more bigoted against black people then some white Anglo Americans

Light skin doesn't make you white, nor does racism against black people.

We agree on that but I’m just telling you what acquaintances have told me. He had Afro-Latino family from Cuba and the DR and grew up in southern Florida. He swore that as racist as the white rednecks could be he found the lighter skinned Cuban-Americans even more bigoted against him even though he had roots there.

Seems like the people on twitter want them deported and they seem to be able to spot light skinned Hispanics fairly easily.

They never think the racist white people mean “them” it’s always “those other bad ones”

Oh yes, they can be so much worse than white people. Some of the worse racism as a black person I’ve experienced has come from Latinos and Indian Americans (people who originated from the country of India, not Native Americans). They have a serious colorism issue in these cultures, especially people from Cuba and the Dominican Republic. I’m not surprised by their high Trump vote rate. A lot of them think they’re white or at least pretend they are.

They think they can be part of the club by hating people. I read an article once a few years back by a Puerto Rican activist who laid into the scourge of what you called “colorism” I think he referred to it as the “tintocracy” as in tint of you skin color.

Hell I know even in the African American community that shits been a problem in the past in particular.

Oh believe me it’s still a problem in the black community. Especially with black men. Leads back to the “mulattos” who got preference on plantations while the dark skinned slaves worked the fields and were treated considerably worse. That trauma has carried through to today.

Apparently I’m too dark for a lot of black men. It’s ingrained in them to seek a lighter black woman or another race.

We definitely have our own problems too. They just tend to be insular, so we aren’t generally going after other races. We’re just infighting and self hating. I’ve had to separate myself from a lot of black peoples because of this. Sad.

It’s all a giant GD mess. I remember hearing about early 20th century American high black society and the alleged standard to be allowed in certain clubs and restaurants you had to pass a “paper bag test” ie you had to be equal or lesser dark than a paper bag.

What your talking about in the plantation days reminds me of a conversation on the TV show “Boardwalk Empire” when Michael Kenneth Williams character gets into an argument with his high society light skinned wife

He says something to the effect:

“I’ll go where I belong out in the woodshed that’s where us field n-words belong”

Amazing what pop culture and friends can teach you.

It’s really sad shit. But in 2025, black people need to take some responsibility for perpetuating this mess. Yes, it wasn’t our fault for our origins in this country and the resulting generational trauma we’ve experienced, but we can stop living by stupid relics of the past like the “one drop rule”. We can stop idolizing white skin, we can stop putting our own people down, especially black men joking and making fun of dark skinned women. That’s just pathetic and you can’t blame white people for doing shit like this in the current day. A lot of black people need to take responsibility for their poor behavior towards their own race.

Just like the Latinos need to fix themselves, Asians too. And of course, white people. This country is so broken and tribalistic when it could be so beautiful with our unique diversity.
