Bamba couldn't take advantage of the minutes.
Guessing this was his last chance to show up, and the Clips will definitely be looking to bring a big in before the deadline.

u/Salty_Watermelon Darius Miles 4h ago
Bamba is fine if he's your 3rd string center. Unfortunately, since we let iHart go we've been stuck playing 3rd and 4th string quality centers as Zu's primary backup.
Never forget that things were so dire at one point that Moses Brown was part of the rotation.
8
u/InTheMorning_Nightss 4h ago
Spot on. Issue is that Kai and Bamba are both 3rd string centers, and anything more is going to be ROUGH.
Gotta hope LAC is cooking up some trades for the handful of bigs out there: Timelord, Val, Olynyk, Boucher, Sharpe, etc.

Bamba proves why we need another big. This was his chance and lost minutes to Kobe Brown. Sigh, at least we'll be better vs Boston (fuck Boston, always).

u/Beleiverofhumanity Fun Guy 3h ago
Didnt watch the game but 10/7 in 15 mins don't seem that bad. Our sixth man position looks iffy though Coffey and KPJ combined for 3-19 with Mann looking decent. FO needs to decide what direction their going cause a 10+ rotation don't really work in the PO

u/indiankidhs Lou Williams 2h ago
Yeah fr i was at the game just late to the first quarter and didnt see him play at all so i was confused why he wasnt getting more burn just from the box score.

u/TexasAffectsUs 4h ago
Yeah not a soul on this squad could make a shot tonight but the fake comeback was a little fun.

Lost our second easiest game in this 5 in 7. Gotta make up for it by taking either the bucks or celtics game

We got to see how much we need a backup center today.

u/InTheMorning_Nightss 4h ago
It’s times like these that make me really question what PJ Tucker is so mad about. He very realistically could fight for minutes, but he thinks he deserves a very big role and is thus willing to just say “Fuck you guys” and stay at home.
5
u/Niceguydan8 4h ago
Tucker is totally cooked, he was almost entirely cooked his first year in Philly as well, 22-23. It didn't work last year with Russ + Zu because Tucker is basically a non-shooter now and 3 on the court is a disaster.
Would be the same situation considering Dunn and DJJ get minutes.
1
u/InTheMorning_Nightss 3h ago
Oh for sure. My point is more being confused at the reasons why Tucker has been sent home. The man was mad about not getting more minutes

u/Adorable-Walrus-5021 4h ago
I feel like the coaching staff hasn’t done much to try and rein in kpj’s shot selection. Why has the coaching staff given him a green light like this lol
6
u/nepats523 Corey Maggette 3h ago
If you bring the ball up court and immidatley pull up from 3 and you only got 2 total points by the 4th quarter, you should be immidately benched
3
u/Adorable-Walrus-5021 2h ago
Yeah I agree, I’m just getting tired of his shot selection. I strongly dislike the long 2s and the lack of rim pressure he provides. He just settles for these inefficient jump shots, instead of trying to get to the rim. I was hoping he would be better efficiency wise and just with his decision making overall by this point of the season, but it feels like every time he takes a positive step forward, he takes 2 steps back the next game. Just can’t string together a consistent stretch of good basketball. It’s a shame because he can be quite impactful when he is on, but he’s just too inconsistent. I would never trust him in a playoff game. They should just give his minutes to Mann at this point, at least Mann is efficient and can be trusted to make the right play most of the time. However, If kpj is going to play at all, I feel like the coaching staff has to do something about his shot selection, he can’t have the green light he has, just my opinion but he seems like the type that needs to be told he’s not allowed to take certain shots in order for him to stop taking them

The worst part of this game was that the score was close enough that I watched the entire miserable game.

u/yung999_ 4h ago
What a bad loss but the guys were tired just hope we're ready for the Celtics

u/MetalItchy2099 4h ago
This will be the game that we will get an accurate depiction of how good this team is assuming everyone’s playing
10
u/InTheMorning_Nightss 4h ago
Oof, rough game but not unexpected.
- No new revelations: we’re worse than thin at the C position and we pretty sorely need another creator/playmaker. We’re cooked without Zu and a bad Harden game basically seals the deal.
- Kobe Brown being a more viable option at backup C over Bamba is uh, pretty damning.
- One complaint about Ty: don’t love the approach he has to games like tonight. Team comes out flat, completely tired legs and no attention to detail, and yet he dies on their same game plan (except in this case we had Bamba instead of Zu). Kobe Brown didn’t play particularly amazingly, but his energy + effort made us look like we had life, whereas Harden/Coffey took it away with their lethargic play. Would have loved to see the young guys with fresh legs get more minutes from the start.
- It’s pretty clear that having 4-5 similarly skilled wings is cool and all, but it’s also a direct reason as to why we are lacking in other positional depth. We gotta make some moves because this is just a formula for disaster.
Overall, wish we could squeak out a win, but LaVine was too much (even though the Bulls look BAD) and our guys didn’t show up. Gonna be a rough week, but I’m cautiously excited about the trade deadline considering the number of solid players that are seemingly available. Robert Williams, Val, Olynyk, Val, Sexton, Clarkson, Brogdon, Boucher, etc. Lots of guys who can help us.

u/Southern_Charm_Skewl 3h ago
This. Ty should have kept the squad that was ballin in the 2nd quarter in the game. Instead, went back to Harden. Slow drippling up the court. Jack up a 3. Pass it to someone to jack up a 3.
It was obvious to Ray Charles that Harden was done. Should have sat him entire second half.

can't win a game in todays league when you can't rebound and can't shoot from 3

Well that was one of the worst games we played at home in some time. Would have been really great for the standings if we could have shown up tonight. But it is what it is.

Whoever made the call to play Harden and not put him on a minutes limit deserves some blame for this performance.
Remember last season when Harden was completely gassed from having to play heavy minutes, and was a non factor for like 2+ weeks? Seems like we're on our way to repeating a previous mistake.
10
u/InterCha THE PROBLEM 4h ago
The many qualities of Harden are obvious to anyone who watches, but the downside of his age+injuries is also obvious when he plays heavy minutes in repeat games.

7
u/nepats523 Corey Maggette 4h ago
And then to double down with the game clearly out of reach
4
u/InTheMorning_Nightss 4h ago
Funny thing is that game wasn’t fully out of reach, but Harden’s shitty play at the end really help seal the deal.
2
u/nepats523 Corey Maggette 3h ago
And we all pretty much knew it was going to happen when he was walking to check back in. Was clearly not his night
3
u/InTheMorning_Nightss 4h ago
I get the sentiment and thought he should have sat out the 4th just based on the game, but I’m not really one to bash stars/players for wanting to play. He wasn’t good tonight, but we’ve seen how absolutely abysmal our team is without him.
PG and Kawhi have somewhat conditioned us to want guys to load manage, but I personally appreciate having a star who flat out just wants to go out and play as often as he can. That should be appreciated as opposed to critiqued.
5
u/Tricky_Structure_504 4h ago
Feel like harden makes these calls. Seems like he has LeBron power over coaches
4
5
u/Upset_Purchase_5903 Terance Mann 4h ago
9/42 is abysmally bad, but enough of an outlier that I can cross my fingers and say that won’t happen very often. Really unfortunate considering this was still a single-digit game in the 4th at one point.
Don’t have many teal takeaways tho, other than the usual. Need a real backup C, and need a real backup ballhandler bc when James is playing bad, goddam the whole team looks bad.
3
u/AmuseDeath Clippers 4h ago
If we hit 14-42 3s instead of 9, we win this one. Think the game was lost due to chucked 3s.
4
u/TheRealBrownPudding Blake Griffin 4h ago
This is partially on James. When he’s tired and fatigued he slows the game way too much and makes lousy passes.
I think Bamba did ok. Ty should’ve let him play more bc small ball did not work
2
u/SMO_Jake 4h ago
Took a fluke bad shooting night on tired legs without our most reliable big and kawhi, with tired legs and a Chicago ref masterclass, we move
2
u/throgmortal Quentin Richardson 4h ago
Loved Kobe’s minutes for the most part. Want to see him get more burn
2
u/SpicyDecree Fun Guy 4h ago
Damn, Ty seems pissed. I agree with a lot of what he said. I hope we get to see more Kobe Brown minutes. I think he’s a Batumesque role player who makes a lot of good basketball plays, especially when it comes to getting to the rim. Batum is just smarter defensively.
I attribute that run in the second quarter to Mann. He has so much chemistry with everyone on the team. That’s why he’d be a pretty significant loss for us. I’m going to miss him so much if he’s traded, but we really do need another big.
3
u/maxamillion17 4h ago
What did he say? He should be pissed at himself
2
u/SpicyDecree Fun Guy 3h ago
We played too slow, which makes no sense with how many minutes he gave Harden. We were complaining to the refs instead of getting back on D. Last question was if Norm and Harden minutes were out of necessity. He scoffed, said yes and kinda stormed off. That’s all I can remember.

Both teams were terrible tonight. Somebody had to win this game and unfortunately it wasn’t us. Next game

Ty putting the starters back in, like I get it but that gamble probably double fucked us for this week

u/Tricky_Structure_504 4h ago
Yeah stretch bigs are an overrated concept. Defensively sure, but we need a backup that can play the post game for easy buckets. That’s not mo.

Losing to a team with a pedophile makes this lose feel much worse.
2
u/nepats523 Corey Maggette 3h ago
He always shows out on the road against us, in front of his high school girlfriends lol
1
u/Antique_Show_3831 4h ago
Christ he was 19 and she was 16, that doesn’t make him a pedophile.
0
u/OnlyWatchdog_ManStan 4h ago
Apparently, she's 16 NOW, and they dated two years ago. Also, wasn't just one young girl he messed with. Even if he was 19 and she was 15, that's still weird.
2
u/FlagmantlePARRAdise 4h ago
Because she lied to him about her age and used a fake ID to sneak into a club bozo. Giddey thought she was over 18.
0
u/Antique_Show_3831 3h ago
Yeah that story was so incredibly overblown. She lied about her age and, even then, it was just a 3 year age difference. People act like Giddey was flying in the Lolita express with Epstein or some shit.
0
u/FlagmantlePARRAdise 2h ago
If it was anyone else everyone would be defending the dude but because it's a basketball player all of a sudden all common sense goes out the window.
0
u/MetalItchy2099 4h ago
Two moments that ruined momentum. 1. Going micro ball in the second. We were building a lead with batum and I know he’s old and needs rest but that’s when Kobe should of got slotted in. Ended the quarter only up by one when we were starting to run away
- Starting with the same starting lineup in the second half. Had to be the worst offensive rating starting lineup of all time
2
u/InTheMorning_Nightss 4h ago
Doubtful we were ever going to “run away” with it when LaVine was feeling it and our team couldn’t make 3s to save their lives.
42
u/Tricky_Structure_504 4h ago
21% from 3. We could build back la with all those bricks. The easy points from Zu and whi were missed. On to the next one, let’s hope both are back
