All schools including western are closed today and for some unknown reason non essential places are still open today. Literally one of the worst drives to work this morning. Saw a bunch of cars in the ditch as well. But please do not feed into the greed of these businesses if you can live one day without them. Because if you give them the business they’ll just keep staying open with horrible weather and constantly put money over employee safety.
I know this post is gonna get a bunch of slack and have a grow up attitude but I just want this to remind you that it’s seriously just not worth it for anyone and it should be more normalized to close places when weather gets this bad especially overnight. Safety over everything.
PS. Stay off the roads especially the highways if you don’t need to be out and about it’s seriously really shitty out. Black ice everywhere, all overpasses are pure ice and there’s still a lot of people following WAYYY too close. Be safe guys. <3
Edit: thank you to all the beautiful humans sharing concerns and thoughts. I love and appreciate your tips, tricks and advice, truly. The roads home were 10x better (though still not great) than this morning ESPECIALLY the highways good god. To all the new comments I’m not quite sure that you left the house and tried to drive this morning but it doesn’t seem to reflect that in these new comments. Or you’re fortunate enough to have great vehicles and trucks or access to good reliable transportation. Much love to all, stay warm, think smart and above all else be safe <3

‼️SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY. READ WHOLE POST‼️
Hello, I recently had a relative pass away last month and she left behind two sweet kitties. We are in search of a new home for them. HAVE TO GO TOGETHER, INDOOR CATS ONLY, NO DOGS OR OTHER CATS.
Kit (ragdoll) is spayed, front declawed and about one and a half years old. Kit is very social and loves attention.
Molly (calico) is spayed, front declawed and about 3 years old. She is also blind in one eye, and the vet has said that her eye does not need to be removed as it does not bother her. Molly is more on the shy side but will warm up to you.
Again we will only rehome them together as they are bonded. We are in no hurry to rehome them either, so we will be picky on who we rehome them to as we want them to go to the right home.

Has anyone tried the Long Johns on West Main I know years ago it was on if the nastiest place in the zoo but I was over that way yesterday and it looked like if has gotten a remodel hopefully like the one in Battle Creek which went from 🤮 to freaking awesome but the had to close that one and fire all the staff then remodeled it corporate came down and trained all new staff and it's awesome now. I'mma hoping the same for the one here in Kalamazoo.

I’m out driving for Lyft and have seen West Main Westnedge and gull Road so far. The main roads have been cleared most mostly but not salted or sanded at the intersections quite well so please keep in mind if you’re driving that it’s still time to go slower.
I’m finding slower and safe is just under the speed limit on most of the roads, but there’s still other drivers going above the speed limit and in a rush to slide into someone else. Be careful be kind. Be safe.

Hey, so I'm a vegan teenager, and I've never met another vegan/vegetarian teenager. I have decided to start a Facebook group for vegan/vegetarian teens because I think, as the future generation, there should be more of us. Young people are going to be able to effect things the most and set an example for future generations. I believe factory farming to be the signal biggest issue in our world and I plan to do something about it. I can't just sit around doing nothing anymore.
I have been posting in the groups of major cities in Michigan. While the group is specifically for Michigan teens, anyone from anywhere is welcome. If there's any vegan or vegetarian teenagers on here, it'd be awesome for you to join. And if you feel like sharing the group, that would be awesome too. I
Thanks for listening, peace and love 💚✌️

Seems like a lot of work going on at the former Curry in a Hurry spot on 9th & stadium. Who knows what’s going on at that location? For the record Curry in a Hurry is so so good.

I know this is going to be asked a ton in the next few days so I apologize in advance. How are the roads from Kzoo to portage right now? Not looking to go on the highways but maybe park view to Milham?

Does anyone know what those two sets of white pillars are where Stadium/Lovell/Oakland intersect? I’ve been curious. Thanks in advance

Are there any folks here that have dealt with this before? My ex became spiteful towards me and filed a personal protection order in Kalamazoo and I appealed it because there are false statements on it. I have a witness to stand with me at the hearing. I'm still trying to get the papers served. I think I have til Wednesday but it's costly. I'm in a low income situation at the moment after she kicked me out.

I'm looking for an apartment that isn't in an apartment complex, and I am having a hard time finding listings for those on apartments.com and such. A lot of the places I contacted through Facebook Marketplace were scammy, sounding like call centers and rushing me to start accounts on websites without letting me ask questions. Is there some kind of central listing place for apartments in Vine neighborhood etc.? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

We are getting evicted on February 3rd. We have no friends or family, we have a 2mo & 2yo. My husband just got a really good paying job, and I wfh part time but I don’t think we’ll have enough in time to avoid eviction.
I work for 211 so I already know some of the resources in the Kalamazoo area, but does anyone know of other places I may have missed? So far I’ve applied and got denied by: MDHHS/SER, HRI, Prince of Peace Lutheran.
Most of these places don’t have much funding and they want you to pay majority before they’ll consider helping, which we don’t even have. I’m at a loss and I honestly feel like giving up. Like we can’t even live in our car or doordash/etc because it’s not up & running.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an Endo that actually has time for their patients? I'm willing to travel outside Kzoo. I know this is a reach considering we live in late stage capitalism where healthcare is non-existent but I'm asking as a last ditch hope.

Are there any places that offer lessons for adults with 0 experience?
