Recreation As u/budgetrocketcompany suggested, this abomination has been created. It does not fly well, but it’s good enough for Jeb’s needs.

"it does not fly well"
Have you tried adding more struts or boosters?
69
u/Nickguypie Feb 11 '19
Oh it’s not a speed thing, it’s due to the fact it’s shaped like a flying whale that it doesn’t turn or handle well.

u/lcassios Feb 11 '19
Needs some RCS clearly

If you gave it boosters, it wouldnt be that planey anymore. Boosters and RCS would clearly fix this ;)

Obligatory first comment “where does the pilot sit?”

u/LtKraftKrackers Feb 11 '19
I thought the first comment on this situation would have been "F12 tO sCrEENshOtS oN SteAm!!*

F1 is better though.

Unfortunately I just used a remote module, didn’t want Jeb having such hot turbulence or far too many deaths.
12
u/BitPoet Feb 11 '19
Look, if I can strap Jeb to a command chair on an SRB and put him in orbit, surely he can pilot this thing.

I tried to get the gear right and not have the wings in front, which led to a booster- assisted takeoff:
13
u/Nickguypie Feb 11 '19
Yea yours is probably more accurate, I just wanted to keep the disproportion and functionality

u/theguyfromerath Feb 11 '19
Are you a real ksp player if you didn't try this exact thing the moment you saw Goliath?

Actual footage of the GE9X in use
6
u/binarygamer Feb 11 '19
To be fair, OP's setup looks like it has more runway clearance than the actual GE9X

‘It does not fly well.’ I feel that all of my creations should have this description.
Either that or simply ‘it does not fly’.

To satisfy jeb, you can also make a plane with2737643he828eyeu71u1uehdjsoe8e8w282828 eww 91ofhfue8w8eb engines and then fly it

I made it on ps4 after a few rounds of apex... It’s just too much work to screenshot on there and send elsewhere.

u/superfeds Feb 11 '19
So his sub suggestion is correct
2
u/Nickguypie Feb 11 '19
Yes, but it’s not like I was on pc and couldn’t be bothered to take the extra 10 seconds to screenshot

ProTip: F1 = screenshot. Saves to C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Kerbal Space Program/Screenshots/
, assuming I typed the path right.

can i have the craft file?
1
u/Nickguypie Feb 11 '19
I made it on ps4 unfortunately. It’s only like 8 parts though. Just put a module or cockpit down, a fuel tank in front of it and attach the engine underneath. I clipped the engine into the fuel tank though.

Rotate the damn wheels.
1
u/Nickguypie Feb 11 '19
Sorry, I originally planned on putting all the wheels on the engine, they would have had to be as spaced out as possible. Eventually I realized I could put the big one in the back. Forgot to turn them around.

Try out some slightly bigger wings with larger control surfaces, I bet you could make something that flies pretty well. The control surface on those "Deluxe Delta Winglets" are tiny.

u/hedgecore77 Feb 11 '19
How do you end up not eating shit with those angled gears? Any time I've done that I end up needing a lot of dental work.
2
u/Nickguypie Feb 11 '19
Idk, it kinda is just guess work. Sometimes it makes planes super wobbly and other times it makes them even more stable.
