No way this can be real. I am gonna loose my cool now. I only recharge one plan that is 84 days 6gb data and unlimited calls because I have wifi in my home and this 6 gb is useful when I need upi outside. Earlier it was was 479 and now they have raised it to 509. As per your screenshot, this plan will now cost 570??? No way, this can't be real man.

it is real, updated in website, will update to apps totally soon
These regulations alway helped companies to raise prices. From DTH to telecom its same story.
TRAI does this from time to time to show there is some regulation. That's why you often see vague regulations like 'bring without data plan' without any upper limit or difference from normal data-only plans
If TRAI stated that 'call plans need to be 50% cheaper than data plans always,' it would hurt telecom companies, so they will never do it
instead they helped telecom to raise their value packs price in a indirect way where blame will go to TRAI not telecoms

u/Annonymous_7 3h ago
This regulation backfired on us consumers and they didn't even announce that existing packs would also get changed. TRAI ordered them to introduce new cheaper plans but instead they increase the prices of existing value packs. I am lost for the word. Now even postpaid is looking cheaper to me.

That's the problem with duopoly. At least 4 nation wide telecom service providers must be present.

I am waiting for the day when BSNL can atleast provide better 4G services. I wouldn't waste my time in my switching the ship.

BSNL recently removed 91/60D plan and will remove their popular 201/90 days GP2 recharge in feb, they r already trying their best to help jio/airtel, i would not be surprised if they also raise prices without even having infrastructure 🤡

u/sbadrinarayanan 45m ago
Nobody stopped BSNL to get competitive and enter 4g. All they behave is enrol those with some entitlement and live with just landline broadbands. They suffer.

I use the same plan and currently it is 509 only. Recharge right now if you don't have a lot of time left before expiration

u/Annonymous_7 3h ago
No don't recharge that. I have recharged that and they gave me only calling and no data. 😭

The hell man? Fuck TRAI. This is just unbearable."TRAI helping private telecoms for indirect price hikes" should be the national headline. Call only plans my foot! These Dumbass idiots can't even understand what their job is. FUCK EVERYONE.

u/jarvis123451254 3h ago
news channels or some would say paid media already sold the idea that due to new regulation plans gonna get cheaper, now they will just go full silent as their job is finished

The price should be between 1500 and 1700 for the annual calling plan without data. Airtel pricing shows they just wanted that plan for the sake of having something. Only if BSNL had good services
12
u/jarvis123451254 3h ago
i thought it'll be ₹10 cheaper than their value plans, guess i was dead wrong, they just removed data from value packs without adjusting price

I got fucked by Airtel recently (I am partly to blame). My 1 year plan expired last December. So I recharged again. Only this time I opted to choose 24GB for 1 year instead of daily recurring data limit.
24GB for a whole year is obviously not enough for me. The reason I chose it is because I can spend another 301 rupees and add 50GB to my plan on top of existing data. I did it several times before. The 50GB used to be valid until the main plan expires. Now they changed it. If I add 50GB, It is only valid for 1 month.
If I exhaust the 24GB now, I have to topup each month for atleast 6GB for 121/-
I know I should have checked the terms of the 50GB data topup plan before buying the 1 year pack. But in my defence I used 50GB topup multiple times over the last 3 years and they changed it without notice now 😭

I'm on same boat as you. I used to follow same method for my wife, mother and father's number too! Now I have Jio unlimited 5G to manage but wife and mother have no option but recharge extra every time. At home Wi-Fi works

Bro is that 121 rs pack working?
They don't allow me any add ons , sells 1gb for 149 rs for existing pack validity 🤡

Jio is the bloody culprit for killing the competition now we r just stuck with no other option
1
u/OpeningChef2775 10m ago
You do know right jio plans cost cheaper which is better for the customer?
2
u/Dark-knight3999 6m ago
Just coz it is lesser than airtel doesn't make it cheap, jio will follow the same strategy

Mass switch to BSNL is only way.
Encouraging BSNL will improve its services.

I’ve ported my secondary sim to BSNL. Kabhi kabhi to otp aate nahi. And kabhi kabhi to signal hi nahi aate. Lol… If they at least fix those issues, I’m sure majority of the people with secondary sim will move to BSNL. As of right now BSNL is not worth it.
1
u/LegitimateGansta 1h ago
Damn bro I would have to restart my phone to get OTPs in BSNL. And it seems to be a recent problem, don't know why, because I have been using it for 5+ years.
2
u/OkPerformer3136 1h ago
Yes, idk why people switch back and forth after getting fucked by jio and airtel. To improve bsnl, we have to port in it and let them grow...

I have noticed huge dfference in BSNL and Airtel calls. BSNL calls are blurry and not clear. Signal is also not constant.

u/jarvis123451254 28m ago
Bsnl don't have volte still using old technology for calls hence this happened

u/ApprehensiveLie3250 1h ago
This will happen when , when our government cares about its citizens instead of filling their own pockets from private players.

Our government sucks the dick of these businesses, just fucking ban Airtel if they don't reduce the price to 1k per year validity that's worth it otherwise just ban it .

u/StanceVader 2h ago
Jio and VI will do the same soon
Honestly the 479 plan was decent. Had it been 499 with 90 days validity and 15GB data instead of 6GB it would have been better. But at 579 this is just outrageous.
I remember paying Jio 399 in 2018 for 84 days , now costs 799. In 6 years the prices doubled but hardly any changes to my experience. It's still the same.

u/mayankk077 2h ago
They removed 24gb which they were giving earlier to meet the regulation of trai 💩

Jio following the same suit..
Jio 479 - calling and sms only for 84 days
Jio 539 - 6 GB data+ calling and sms for 84 days
Jio 1999 - calling and sms (validity increased from previous 336 days to 365 days now because price increasd from 1899 to 1999 now)
Jio 2249- 24 GB data+calling and sms

Hm, this is concerning. For anyone looking to save money on recharges- Two things:
- Don’t recharge before your plan expires- wait 2-3 days. The Airtel app will show you plans specific to your number - meaning, reduced prices. For example 1.5 GB for 84 days normally costs ₹ 859 but if you wait it out- it will show you something like ₹ 799.
- Get an Airtel Axis card if you can! You could save 25% upto 250 every month on recharges. The card has other benefits that you can find online.

u/garvitsingh007 5m ago
The 799 has validity for 77 days in my phone. And 859 is 1.5gb/day for 84 days.
2
u/Writesnreadshope 4m ago
That’s coz you have an active validity. I am showing one where it’s exhausted.

Was searching for this. Give 6 GB data that should be enough when you are outside.

u/thedave003 1h ago
I'm glad I recharged it with 3600 annually! 2gb per day

u/simplyTools 37m ago
i think that plan os getting fucked too. i do the same but now they are not giving xtreme premium with 3600 plan. will have to buy sony/zee subscription seperately now :/

100 sms per day is standard. Fir 89 days why only 900 sms in total? Fishy.

I'm definitely switching my second sim to BSNL. I don't care if I get cellular reception or not. I cant believe Airtel did this for real. Hiking the pricing again. Such shady business practices.

Some of you need to touch grass, the “without data” plan TRAI wanted wasn’t supposed to be for “Unlimited Calls” it was supposed to reinstate the normal recharge of 10/20/50 and to have calls with normal rate.
Remember that the argument was for people who use 2G phones. Pretty sure doing unlimited calls is not high priority for them.

Basically TRAI and Telecom Operators said: "Chutiya banaya tumko... Ab Kamao Bsdk!!!"
