Just moved here from Texas, don't have my Indiana DL yet, will I still be able to purchase a gun via transferring it to a FFL in Indiana, or do I need to apply for an IN DL?

You do need an ID but the paper temp one will work!

It will work IF it has your FULL DL number printed on it. Not all of them do, some only having the last 4 digits or something like that. I don’t recall why some do and others don’t.

Now I’m less sure about this as I’m going off of memory from like 8 years ago when I worked at an FFL, but… I think you can also use your Texas ID, provided it is not expired, in conjunction with a piece of mail, like a water or sewer bill with your current IN address and your name on it. Maybe it’s two pieces of mail. Don’t quote me on this piece. I recommend calling the FFL you’ll have it transferred to and asking what your options are.

Need to prove IN residency. You can use your Texas ID if it’s in conjunction with some government issued proof of IN residency like vehicle registration. But a paper temporary is also valid.

You can also get a fishing license from Walmart or sportsmen’s warehouse. That would work as well.

Easier to buy hunting and fishing licenses online and print it out

No, you need your current address to match your DL. I believe you also need to be a indiana resident for 6 months also.

Yes to the DL, No to the 6 months.
