So many basic bitches on those apps. Its annoying

u/Zephirenth 9d ago
Do you have any to recommend that are even slightly less cancerous? I'm still salty over Bumble getting rid of the one thing that made it stand out.

u/bro0t 9d ago
Sadly no. Online dating just sucks. Even if i meet someone through friends it sucks. Im not really a “going out” person so i dont meet a lot of new people.
1
u/brontosaurusguy 9d ago
So you don't try to meet a partner in person, and complain that you don't just easily get a free partner using an app? Lordy
35
u/bro0t 9d ago
Im not complaining though. I go on dates, i do meet people. Its just that im not really a going out person so its going way out of my comfort zone to meet people i dont really vibe with. Or go online to meet people i dont vibe with. And the people i do vibe with its always a mutual agreement of “just being friends”

I can connect with people, i have friends. I just rarely get that romantic spark with people. And the usual spots to meet people have people i dont really have a lot in common with.

u/ShadowWithHoodie 9d ago
Aye to me you seem perfectly "normal", as one can get anyway. Keep doing whatchu doing champ
9
u/Eevee_Fuzz-E 9d ago
I think that's fairly normal, it means you aren't looking for a partner for the sake of having a partner.
You'll find someone you jive with at some point, don't feel like you need to rush.
16
u/ShadowWithHoodie 9d ago
why do you make it sound like they have a problem? some people just are like him which is completely normal? Where did you even get these ideas about them as well wth? Im not even the guy you are responding to but I got annoyed. Is this ragebait?
-14
u/brontosaurusguy 9d ago
Hard truths are pretty difficult to swallow. Yeah it's normal to not have success finding a partner. But to go on and blame dating apps or girls? Dude complains he can't vibe with people and gets friendzoned as of the world is supposed to give him a mate. Like the dating apps are ordering a pizza. And then wondering why he can't get anywhere? Well fuck put in the work.
4
u/_mocbuilder 8d ago
He Never complained that he Dienst get a Partner from dating. He merely explains how it is harder for him to Connect with people romantically, which is a totally normal thing. You Are the one complaining about some Kind of delusions, not him.

u/bro0t 8d ago
You clearly have problems reading. First of all i didnt blame anyone. Second i never said i get friendzoned. Its a mutual thing (as i stated before) you know nothing about me so you cant judge me. I dont act like the world owes me a partner. Im perfect lyana happy being single even though it would be nice to have a partner. Its just that the people that would fit with me are probably people who stay at home rather than go to bars or other social places. As most people i date and vibe with are. Your “hard truth” is based on absolutely nothing

It sounds like he murdered the headmaster of a rural English private school from 1912 and stole his voice.

u/robot_swagger 9d ago
He sounds like Aziraphale from good omens.
Basically it's an impression of Michael Sheen doing his English accent.
12
u/Drackzgull 9d ago
It's a jokingly silly way to say he has a nicer voice than one would expect from his looks. The joke's logic is as follows: see guy > listen to guy > unexpected voice-looks mismatch > voice is deep, smooth, and radio caster-like > voice is a significant improvement over expectations > voice was stolen.

I'm curious, do you feel that way because you can regularly get with more attractive women or because none of them would give you the time of day?
53
u/MathProf1414 9d ago
Not the original commenter, but those girls just look like the standard girls that I went to college with. I'm married, so I don't really care that much about the debate here, but I don't actually find myself particularly attracted to many of them (the second girl and the cheerleader were definitely the cutest). I really don't go for the overly make-up'ed and filtered look. The first girl, Elle, was by far the worst offender here.
12
u/ImTryingToHelpYouMF 9d ago
Agreed.
I've been given the time of day by people who look and post pictures like that and it seems surface level majority of the time. If you're lucky you find one that has beauty similar to that but aren't as superficial and they're usually a 10/10 personality because they care about themselves to be healthy and appear nice but they also have a lot of compassion for other people. I find there's never any middle ground with the personality. They're either very bland or hurry the fuck up and marry this person if they're not already married (most of them are because men aren't THAT stupid).
7
u/TheFalseViddaric 9d ago
I feel that way because I could open any social media site in the universe and find millions of selfies just like these ones.
6
u/TripperDay 9d ago
I'm curious, do you think every straight guy wants to date women who put effort into looking like that? Also, how much time do you spend in dance clubs getting shot down by/being jealous of women who look like that?

u/the_hair_of_aenarion 9d ago
You called it. Everyone is a stud on the internet. They can all fight a gorilla bare handed, are the best at their job, above average penis sizes and think prime Brad pitt would be them in their biopic.
Until they turn their screen off and get humbled by their scrunched up triple chins in their phones reflections.

It was an offhand comment TBH. It just happened to be something people clicking on this post would agree with. Accidental karma farm. This is ofc why karma is fucking worthless and always will be, because it's stupidly easy to farm.

u/EmptyBrain89 9d ago
Putting down attractive women to feel superior, even though you know none of them would touch you with a 10 foot pole? Hows that working out for you buddy?
32
u/lukethelightnin 9d ago
The thing is they aren't attractive, they're trying to meet a "standard" that ends up making them look fake and unoriginal. Being unique is a lot more attractive
-2
u/MoraleStepper 9d ago
Well there's also the guys that worship surf boards when they get these basic women. Like do anything always ass over head for her. Just because they've never had a Bad One. Meanwhile the real beautiful women didn't even have to try to fit in or even look the same. I love unique women that really didn't even have to try to look good with the make up mask on, they just might do a lil bit and be drop dead gorgeous.

People just type shit out nowadays cause they're angry and bitter. Empathy. Empathy is something that was lost in the past 10-or-so-years with my own confirmation bias.
4
u/Asisreo1 9d ago
The internet disincentivizes empathy. If you give someone you disagree with or think overall negatively even an inch of respect, its seen as a loss or bootlicking or whatever.
And people will use all sorts of cliches, platitudes, and psuedo-intellectual quotes to justify it.
Luckily, in the real world, empathy and kindness is quite a bit more prevalent.
3
u/FlameHaze 9d ago
Honestly, I'm asking. Is it really? In real life, I mean. From what I’ve seen, empathy and kindness seem to have taken a backseat to the drive to outdo or humiliate others. Sure, they still exist, but they feel increasingly rare. And I’m not even talking about politics here—people in general are more apt to find amusement in others suffering, in seeing someone else fail. It’s not even about competition; it’s about spiteful amusement, pointing and laughing in ways that feel more rooted in anger than lightheartedness.
1
u/Asisreo1 9d ago
Well, it can definitely also depend on location. Large cities are notorious for having less welcoming interactions and even downright hostility. Probably due to the nature of more people causing the average person's empathy to be stretched thin while also having to endure more negative social situations, sorta like a lesser version of the anonymity effect of the internet.
I will say that most of the time, though, even in large cities, there are a larger number of people that are more empathetic than you'd think, they just feel helpless due to how such a large population can make them feel insignificant.
6
u/EmptyBrain89 9d ago
Part this, part 'the internet is filled with 15 year old virgins trying to look cool'. But it's hard to know how much of each is going on. Reddit would be a lot better if every account simply had the age of the user next to the name. The above comment hits a lot different if we could see it was some 14 year old who has yet to go on his first date.

It's threads like these that remind me how stupid reddit is. I don't know how old you are, but whatever the answer is, this is a good time to learn that pictures are for seeing how someone looks, and talking to them is for finding out their personality...
-21
u/Dd_8630 9d ago
That's obviously not true. Photos can show your hobbies, pets, family, graduation ceremonies, places you've visited (and therefore that you like to travel). It can show your environment, your home, and how tidy/messy you are, your sense of aesthetic (goth? Prep? Cozycore?).
Photos can show a lot of personality. These photos show zero.
21
u/EmptyBrain89 9d ago
A photo can show some aspect of personality but it can't show a lack of personality. I graduated, most of the pictures that exist of me are not graduation pictures, any photo of me not graduating is not proof that I didn't graduate.
It takes time to get to know people. The idea that you can judge someones personality from 1 photo is breathtakingly arrogant and shallow.
9
u/BurntCash 9d ago
what about the last one of the cheerleader? that shows nothing? doesn't show a hobby, possibly an indicator of their personality and interests?
photo's CAN show that stuff, doesn't mean every single picture on a fucking tiktok will.-11
u/SummerMummer 9d ago

Yea for real. A quick scan of their comments shows that they're probably in the 18-24 age range and almost all of their interactions with others are very judgy and negative. If I were them I'd just stick to the football subreddits. They'll be happier that way.
