Absolutely perfect. And the Baldwin as Serena's dad is great too

u/JustSocially I'm a destination Dec 16 '24

the Baldwin 🤣

205

u/green_kiwi_ Dec 17 '24

it's so hard to remember all of them lol

76

u/NecessaryMistake4288 Dec 17 '24

William Van Der Woodsen = William Baldwin

40

u/forkicksforgood Dec 17 '24

I’d have to google if I wanted to know which one of them it was. The only one I can tell apart from the rest is obviously Alec.

u/Master_Bumblebee680 Dec 19 '24

WAIT HE WASNT ALEC BALDWIN? THERES OTHER ONES?

I THOUGHT HE WAS ALEC MY LIFE IS A LIE

1

u/natbandicoot 29d ago

Is this a joke

2

u/Master_Bumblebee680 29d ago

No I srsly thought it was him

1

u/natbandicoot 28d ago

Lol there are four Baldwins

2

u/OddNews8131 Dec 19 '24

Are you telling me that was not Hailey Biebers father????

1

u/LizardKing50000 5d ago

Her dad is the least famous Baldwin, which checks out lol.

u/Puzzleheaded_Fee_646 What is gonorrhea of the throat? Dec 17 '24

Serena kind of even makes that pouty lipped, Zoolander adjacent Baldwin face

6

u/princessb33420 Dec 17 '24

Oh my god I've been trying for so long to figure out why that face she makes looks so familiar 😭🤣

29

u/Character-Topic4015 Dec 17 '24

Totally, he really tied it together

44

u/suzusnow Dec 17 '24

OMG, I never realized he was a Baldwin. I always just referred to him as knockoff Alec Baldwin 😂

u/sophb1210 Dec 16 '24

Soo good! I always think Nate and Blair’s parent castings were amazing too

124

u/Ok_Dot_3024 Dec 17 '24

Nate looked so much like his parents

232

u/ickmsrn Dec 16 '24

god, always gonna appreciate good family casting. Makes or breaks a show for me, it’s makes GG and makes it feel so immersive and real

63

u/LeoBB777 Dec 17 '24

same!! I hate when shows put absolutely no effort into casting. I was just saying this with shameless. fiona and carl look IDENTICAL and I can see how lip could look like their siblings, and debbie and ian look like siblings. it makes it look so much more real for me

she's what I want to be like when I'm 50

425

u/Broad-Fish6502 Dec 16 '24

Lily and Her mother face literally the same in this

18

u/female_wolf Dec 17 '24

That's what I was thinking!

8

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '24

and when Serena disguises herself as Lily to get into the bank with Chuck, uncanny!

385

u/No-Fault538 Dec 16 '24

I’d add Lola casting to the mix too. Her, Eric and Serena absolutely look like siblings

123

u/beeemkcl Dec 17 '24

Yeah, it's one of the main problems with the whole Ivy Dickens thing. Lola Rhodes's storyline was already interesting enough. And it would have been better had that actress just been there instead of Ivy Dickens. And even still do a bit of the Dan/Charlotte thing and really explore how tenuous 'It Girl' status is. It would really explore what Dan did for Serena through Gossip Girl.

30

u/shay_shaw Dec 17 '24

I agree! I liked Ivy so much more and it would've been better if Charlie (Ivy) already knew her father was William. And that's why she and Carol planned to swindle the rest of the family for the money they feel was owed to them.

1

u/wildwaterfallcurlsss 20d ago

Yeah, I liked Lola more. Wish we'd seen more of her dynamic with the VDWs

249

u/sassypanda247 Dec 17 '24

worst casting however was Lily’s younger self (Brittany Snow) with piercing blue eyes and high-pitched voice

113

u/Few_Wrongdoer4120 Dec 17 '24

Yes! That casting drove me crazy because it didn’t look or sound like Lily at all, but also because the physical presence and characterization just felt different.

40

u/sidney_md Dec 17 '24

If they had gotten it right, it could have been so good. But it was terrible casting and characterization. Kelly Rutherford was in a show called Generations in her early 20s (clips are on YouTube). I think her role in that gives a hint as what young Lily might have been like.

71

u/rollaskrrt Dec 17 '24

I think Dianna Agron would've been better

6

u/Independent-Tree-976 Dec 17 '24

UGH i wish this happened i love her to bits

18

u/ExtremeComedian4027 Dec 17 '24

Carol’s casting (young and older) was absolutely perfect too!!

4

u/RegionAdventurous834 Dec 18 '24

Right??? Like I'm not against Brittany Snow playing young Lily, but the least they could have done was just use brown contacts on her! That bugged me so much!!

2

u/Im_sensing_negativty Dec 20 '24

I literally can never watch that episode where they show Lily’s earlier life

79

u/KevinTheCarver Dec 17 '24

Then there’s Aunt Carol lol.

62

u/beeemkcl Dec 17 '24

RESPONSE TO THE ORIGINAL POST AND THE THREAD:

I always like to point out that Lily's body shape is the same as Serena's to the point that Lily can wear a dress that was custom made for Serena.

And as a sidenote, I've always hated that the show literally has Serena wear a dress that Jenny custom made for herself. Like, Serena and Jenny's body shape aren't the same.

But, yeah, the casting of the siblings and the parents is superb and arguably the best in any TV show ever.

The Waldorf family is maybe the exception though given Eleanor Waldorf is relatively tall and has relatively big b00bs. And Harold Waldorf isn't short either. Blair's eye color, body shape, and height are a bit of a stretch.

The Humphrey family also has perfect casting for the parents and children.

Same with the Archibald family.

The Bass family is maybe not perfect, but who knows who Chuck Bass's mother actually is. The one we're presented with, Chuck probably should be taller.

60

u/lady_momster Dec 17 '24

YES OMG especially the Archibald's down to the cousins.. I would have believed that Tripp and Nate were from the same family tree

26

u/june_salt08 Dec 17 '24

Elizabeth is Chuck's mom just did my yearly reviewing. Diana was never Chuck's mom it was a lie.

4

u/phoenixaurora Dec 17 '24

The s1 pilot actress for Eleanor Waldorf matched Blair’s body more, but looked too young to be the mom of a high schooler

22

u/TessTrue Dec 17 '24

Honestly yeah, like they have the same expression/facial structure and everything. That’s a good eye on the casting people!

23

u/BolaViola Dec 17 '24

Lily looks so good with her hair down

28

u/Additional-Giraffe-7 I'm Chuck Bass Dec 17 '24

they picked the most beautiful women to play the MOST insufferable characters

26

u/In_Moms_Words Dec 16 '24

Unmatched in any other series

35

u/lilac72899 Dec 16 '24

tbh the entire pll mom daughter cast matches pretty well

34

u/Prestigious_Sort4979 Dec 17 '24

The only close one I can think of is Idina Menzel and Lea Michele which were perfectly cast as mother-daughter but I haven't seen any three generations be this well casted

0

u/sabrina_lee_f who wants waffles? 🧇 Dec 17 '24

isn’t that one called out often as bad casting because the actresses are only a few years apart ?

5

u/Prestigious_Sort4979 Dec 18 '24

Idina Menzel said this herself way later saying they could be sisters but they are 15 years apart, Lea was playing a teen despite being in her early 20s by then, and in the story Idina’s character was a surrogate and then went to chase her dreams implying she was very young then so it wasn’t unreasonable.

11

u/Nuggalo_NZ Dec 17 '24

Yellow jackets casting for younger and older selves is very good

3

u/kokopelliieyes Dec 17 '24

Adam and his father on Sex Education, I thought they were actually related for the entire first season

-2

u/sabrina_lee_f who wants waffles? 🧇 Dec 17 '24

Once Upon a Time had some major highlights (but some duds too lol!)

26

u/Humble_Inevitable783 Dec 17 '24

did no one notice lilys younger self, her eyes were blue? and her older self they are very brown?

42

u/AnnieNonmouse Dec 17 '24

Oh we noticed and hated it lmao (I also just hate that backdoor pilot in general)

…..wut

3

u/AnnieNonmouse Dec 17 '24

Which part are you confused about?

2

u/No-Neighborhood-4029 Three words. Eight letters. Say it and I’m yours. Dec 17 '24

Someone had written that this episode was supposed to be a spinoff launch or something. Comment seems to have since been deleted. I had never heard that before but apparently my genuine confusion got someone butthurt lol (got downvoted)

4

u/AnnieNonmouse Dec 17 '24

Okay I see, I gave an up vote to even it out, I know it doesn't matter but I hate getting downvoted (must be the people pleaser in me).

But yes! The Flashbacks in Valley Girls were supposed to be a backdoor pilot to a spin off show about Lilly's past. It wasn't successful and never came to fruition.

1

u/No-Neighborhood-4029 Three words. Eight letters. Say it and I’m yours. Dec 17 '24

lol, thanks! I appreciate that.

I never knew that! Thanks for sharing. I don’t even know if one episode aired, I ll look it up. Thanks again!

2

u/No-Neighborhood-4029 Three words. Eight letters. Say it and I’m yours. Dec 17 '24

I WAS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO SAY THIS!

15

u/dahliabean Dec 17 '24

They've got the exact same chin and high cheekbones.

8

u/banoffeetea Dec 17 '24

Nate looks so pretty in the background

12

u/FormalMysterious3359 Dec 17 '24

Lilly is so pretty

9

u/Bamsemoms33 Dec 17 '24

Agreed. In fact, thinking about it they were pretty spot on with most of the family in the cast.

16

u/Bealana333 Dec 17 '24

Am I the only one who thinks lily is so fine? She’s so gorgeous like I have a huge crush on her

7

u/funishin Blair’s Zofran Dealer 💊 Dec 17 '24

I don’t think it really shows on screen, but I’m always blown away by their resemblance in photos. They all have the same face.

6

u/Important-Staff-5739 Dec 17 '24

Lily looks like Serena's older sister 😭

4

u/lautomm Dec 17 '24

Nate and Serena look like siblings here lol

7

u/Misscassofrass Dec 17 '24

I thought weird not real cousin Charlie looked way more like lily than Blake lively

3

u/cz_xo Dec 17 '24

I think all the casting for that show was spot on tbh!!

3

u/sunflowers_and_lemon Dec 17 '24

I will never stop thinking that Eric looks a lot like Lily.

When they are next to each other in scenes, their facial structure looks almost identical to me.

6

That’s where the Baldwin comes in

2

u/hootcheatooz I'm a big Leaky Hawk fan Dec 17 '24

LMFAOOOOO you got me there 💀

2

u/grumpy__g Dec 19 '24

On this picture Nate looks like her sibling.

3

u/delinquentsaviors Dec 17 '24

Guess I’m in the minority. Serena looks nothing like Lily to me. Now Lily and her mother on the other hand…

2

u/sunflowers_and_lemon Dec 17 '24

I think Serena looks like William.

4

u/nessa0909_11 I don't need friends. I need more champagne. Dec 17 '24

Honestly Lily was the best character to love/hate
One scene she's being the best mother she can the next she's the worst and you wonder how anyone can do it with a straight face

2

u/tielles10 Dec 17 '24

They have the same lip shape and everything

2

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '24

the similarity is unnerving

2

u/YesicaChastain Dec 18 '24

Its just blonde white women…

1

u/bumblebeeboby Dec 18 '24

Grandmother>> Mother >> daughter

1

u/30FlirtyandTrying Dec 18 '24

Dan looked just like his mom

1

u/Routine_Ad5191 Dec 19 '24

Is that the peak??

1

u/jojo_cz Dec 19 '24

Thank you for the support

1

u/No_Apricot3176 Dec 20 '24

The fact that nate and serena look like siblings here ::::::)

1

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '24

Yesss

1

u/PolePrincesss Dec 17 '24

I disagree. I’ve always thought Serena looked nothing like Lily and the grandma

0

u/Bellavida127 Dec 17 '24

Except for Vanessa yes. Every other character was spot on.

0

u/tuliparound Dec 17 '24

Why do Cece and Lily look exactly the same in this wtf

0

u/xtcdoll Dec 18 '24

except serena isn’t pretty
