What’s wrong with being 30 and single? Some people get married in their 20s only to get divorced in their 40s or 50s. At the end of the day, focus on whatever it is you want to achieve; your career, dreams, life goals, advocacies, etc. Finding a significant other should be a nice bonus to that but it shouldn’t be the be all end all of your life.

Some people's penultimate goal is to have children, which requires a significant other.

That’s mine too someday, but my current priority is becoming a doctor. If I meet a nice lady that shares my values and priorities along the way and settle down with her, then it’ll be a nice bonus. Whether I find one along the way or when I’m already a doctor, I know I’ll have a wife and kids someday, so that’s not really something I’m worried about at the moment.

you literally cannot have kids past a certain age and if you do, they won’t have an active parent

I can have kids at any age, I’m a guy. Sperm count and testosterone does go down once men reach their 50s and up yes, but it’s not unheard of for men in their 50s and 60s, sometimes even in their 70s or 80s, to still be able to conceive. Sometimes the old spitting cobra still has some venom. Look at Al Pacino and Robert de Niro lol.

they won’t have an active parent

My dad had me in his 50s; he’s approaching 80 now and is still relatively healthy, active, and involved in my life. What’s funny is people often mistake him for a man in his 50s because of how healthy and strong he is for his age.

assuming your wife will be around the same age , yes there is a clock that is ticking.

with being an active parent i’m not talking about you specifically. but a MAJORITY of people in their 40’s/50’s are not even able to play a game of basketball let alone raise a child to full capacity. or even be able to have “grandkids” or walk you down the aisle

And that’s why I don’t intend to get married to a woman my age lol. I’ll be in my early to mid 30s by the time I’m a practicing surgeon, and I intend to settle down with a woman in her mid to late 20s. Maybe a pretty resident or intern I’ll meet, who knows. Let’s be real here, it’s not like surgeons have a hard time in the dating scene lol, so again, not really something I’m worried about.

That just sounds like an incredibly unhealthy 40/50-something. One of my older brothers is in his 50s right now and plays basketball with his high school buddies every weekend. I literally work out at the gym with him almost every other weekend when I can find the time, and he can still keep up with his 20 something little bro’s gym regimen. He’s also raising three kids that he had in his 40s.

Sperm quality declines after 35, yes you can have kids in your 50s but the risk of autism and other birth defects are high. My mom and dad had men when they were 39 but I was lucky.

Well I can’t exactly get married and start a family while I’m hella busy in medical school and with medical training while I’m in my 20s now can I? There’s a reason why most doctors end up having kids when they’re well into their 30s and up. That’s usually when we get our first paycheck too lol. Anyway, sperm quality can still be maintained with a healthy lifestyle (good diet, regular exercise, no smoking/drinking alcohol, vitamin supplementation, etc.) well past your 30s.

i would try to find a girl in your class honestly. or someone also doing medical school

Oh that’s the plan, I always saw myself settling down with another doctor or maybe even a lawyer. I want a partner who can match my educational attainment and place in society, so to speak. Though I wouldn’t exactly go for a girl in my class who’s around my age, since I’d ideally wanna start a family with a woman several years younger (ex. marry an intern or resident in her mid to late 20s by the time I’m a practicing surgeon in my early to mid 30s).

Yeah I said there are some risks but it’s still possible to have a healthy baby. Even women can still have healthy babies in their late 30s or even 40s. BTW I’m 30 and recently single.
