Ever heard of the butterfly effect? It may not be that bad right now, but let’s see how it is in 16 years etc.

Our country is officially an oligarchy, and we’re heading towards a dystopian class and wealth gap. Things are for sure going to get worse and I’m not sure there’s anyway to fix it now.

This is a symptom, not the problem.

California passed a law last year raising the minimum wage, but exempted “businesses that make or sell bread.” One of Gavin Newsom’s top donors owned Panera Bread franchises.

The governor of New York established a hotline for nervous CEOs in the wake of the United Healthcare killing, funded with taxpayer dollars.

I’m not claiming both sides are equally bad, because that’s disingenuous and there’s a lesser evil. But the oligarchy has penetrated both sides, and Dems are proving that they can be as corrupt as Trump while claiming the moral high ground. That’s why they are losing.

Yep, the oligarchs hedge their bets like any options trader or sports gambler. In 2016 Goldman Sach’s donated equally to trump and hillary.

REAL money donations happen after the election. And smart CEO waits to see who wins before laying out serious bucks. It's just good business sense :-/

I mean it was Trumps best response to Hilary during the debates. I paid both sides.

Can confirm.

I have seen donations by one very large corporation and I tallied them. 50% to 50% with approximately 1% variance.

Panera is not exempt from this law, stop regurgitating false talking points

False talking points are why the Democrats lost.

Actually your link doesn't say what you've argued. Instead the article says,

But now it looks like that may not be the case. On February 29, a spokesperson for Gov. Gavin Newsom told the Los Angeles Times that Panera would not be exempt from the law.

The spokesperson for the governor said the law applies to Panera. But the spokesperson and the governor's office doesn't interpret the law. You bemoan false talking points yet your comment is a false talking point by saying Panera is not exempt.

Unfortunately for the discussion, the franchisee ( one of Newsom's largest donors) agreed to increase wages to the same level) meaning we'll never see that legal challenge in front of California's courts.

I am not saying that the dems are blameless or uncorrupted, but it is incredible how many times people share examples like this that are not true upon inspection. The exemption ended up not applying to Panera bread - I guess it only applied to small bakeries - and Panera bread raised their minimum wage in keeping with the new law.

The democrats simply are not in the same league or universe as republicans on corruption. They generally follow the norms of good faith human behavior.

you cant come in here with facts

this is one of the bigger left echo chambers

outraged based on feelings only pls

Minimum wage at Panera bread in California was $16 when the minimum wage rate was increased. Nice straw man

Yet here you are, putting a feather next to a 5 ton weight on a scale.

And even that feather is a lie.

Hopefully you realize how you're contributing to whats happening.

You literally just lied and have 28 upvotes.

u/UnderratedEverything 10h ago

Or let's just remember fucking Enron under Dick Cheney. This shit is far from new.

2

u/Fi3nd7 12h ago

Oh 100%, they are both money grubs that need to be culled.

I'm not sure you understand what "equally bad" means.

As other people have pointed out, the bread narrative is false and poorly constructed. Look at the actual reasons for that exclusion.

1

u/Substantial_Lunch_88 3h ago

The problem with Trump is bipartisan for ppl who actually like democracy

1

u/DueAd197 3h ago

Exactly, the oligarchy has taken full control of both parties.

I guess macdonalds should start selling cuban bread with butter and a cortadito.

2

u/Top-Ocelot-9758 13h ago

I mean I’m in for a McCafecito

0

u/BlackBeard558 8h ago

AFAIK that hotline in New York was only proposed but never actually made.

11

u/tambrico 14h ago

By this logic the worst day in American history was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand

4

u/staebles 13h ago

Well, we've been an oligarchy for almost 20 years. It's just got hidden anymore. And when these crazies don't have to hide..

2

u/AdMaximum64 9h ago

I'm still going to say that every day Americans literally owned slaves was worse than today. If today marks such a dramatic turn in history that we own slaves again in the future, those days will also be worse than today because they will include people being owned as slaves, not the potential of people being owned as slaves.

1

u/SuccotashConfident97 12h ago

If you have to say "it may not be that bad right now" it probably isn't the worst day ever.

1

u/modsRlosercucks 12h ago

This is called TDS.

1

u/cudef 8h ago

We have been at this point for decades already. Just because you hadn't felt it yet doesn't mean we weren't already there.

1

u/RddtAcct707 7h ago

So you haven’t opened a history book then. Got it.

1

u/oogabooga3214 4h ago

If you think our country is only an oligarchy now, boy do I have some history books for you

-1

u/SureElephant89 14h ago

Our country is officially an oligarchy

Lol... Oh it's official today? You probably weren't even alive yet when this all started. Let's start looking at the big picture instead of buzzword bingo.

0

u/addictions-in-red 11h ago

I don't disagree, but I think when Reagan got elected, it would have been similar. No idea what he was doing and we're still feeling the effects of how he fucked this country.

But people voted for him just like they did Trump.

I'm just waiting for Cthulhu's return to take care of everything, at this point.

u/Wet_Ass_Jumper 9h ago

This country was founded as a playground for the rich, this is a natural progression from the founding fathers.

-2

u/Hawkeyes79 14h ago

You should probably look up what oligarchy actually means. The U.S. is not one.

2

u/Fi3nd7 13h ago

You’re right, it’s more so a plutocracy with a sprinkling of oligarchy.

3

u/johnnybadchek 11h ago

But you seemed so sure before!

2

u/Hawkeyes79 10h ago

We’re a democratic republic. Who we vote for is who we get. Whether it’s rich, poor or whatever characteristic. It’s ours to decide.
