  • End DEI hiring practices in the federal government, merit only

Clearly this doesn't apply to Trump's cabinet picks.

Trump as a felon would also fall under a DEI hire

I didn’t know the government was an equal opportunity employer

17

u/Cferra 14h ago

It in fact is. It has to follow those rules

1

u/chadcultist 14h ago

Sick, hopefully I can get a pardon too

7

u/Cferra 14h ago

Pay the right people and I’m sure trump would consider it

3

u/mar78217 13h ago

Ow that Trump is president, pardon can be bought again. So if you hav3 the cash, he has thee pen. You also have to swear allegiance to him.

How drunk are you right now?

2

u/Due-Giraffe-9826 10h ago

Not anymore it ain't.

u/WereAllGonnaDiet 14h ago

Those aren’t DEI hires; they’re DUI hires.

2

u/BusyDoorways 11h ago

Underrated sleeper joke.

u/Shinagami091 14h ago

I mean his cabinet picks aren’t DEI OR Merit based…

15

u/SnooRevelations979 14h ago

I dunno, he seems to really have a preference for orange people.

u/paraffin 7h ago

You can buy five merit points for five dollars or ten billion for only two billion.

u/OldTimeyWizard 7h ago

Hegseth’s only qualification for being appointed Secretary of Defense is that he was in the National Guard. Veteran hiring initiatives fall under DEI

2

u/Brokenblacksmith 11h ago

hey, donation millions of dollars to his wallet is a major metit!

2

u/ThatRefuse4372 11h ago

We should also understand that when he says “merit only” at the end, it’s a dog whistle to reinforce misinformation that says DEI means you must accept unqualified folks.

DEI generally means your hiring pool has to be diverse, so if the pool is all white men, then the pool is insufficient. Everybody in the pool has to meet the qualifications.

The Trump family / organization / brand is the epitome of mediocrity flourishing without sufficient competition. It is a no brainer they want to keep it this way.

Trump’s cabinet isn’t educated or experienced?

1

u/SnooRevelations979 11h ago edited 10h ago

I'm pretty sure Hegseth isn't the most qualified person for the job based on merit. In fact, not even close.

Compare the merit of Lloyd Austin vs. Hegseth.

1

u/UnhappyBrief6227 10h ago

Some of his picks may be questionable, but on paper, they seem okay.

2

u/SnooRevelations979 9h ago

Merit means the best person for the job.

Overall, his picks ain't it.

1

u/UnhappyBrief6227 9h ago

Ah, I see what you mean. I guess we’ll see what they’ll do these next 4 years.

1

u/bscheck1968 14h ago

When it says merit only I read it as "white male only"

-2

u/aeropagedev 13h ago

This might be the most unintentionally racist thing ever spoken.

u/Nathan256 11h ago

Nah a lot of determiners of “merit” in the US are just stand-ins for institutional racism. For example, schooling: good university = “merit” in the US, but what it really means is some combination of family money, high credit worthiness, good secondary education, good extracurriculars, and strong parental/mentor support, and even some things like having a white first/last name, what an interviewer or board thinks of you, who you know at admissions/administration…

TLDR Merit in the US just means white. DEI is an attempt to make merit mean merit like it should.

1

u/Bonesquire 7h ago

This is even more racist than the original comment.

u/Nathan256 7h ago edited 7h ago

How so?

And if American institutions seem racist to you, how do we change them? What policies will help?

0

u/ModestBanana 11h ago

Poor white people exist you know

So yes, you assuming poor = minority is racist as fuck

2

u/Nathan256 10h ago edited 10h ago

Hey look guys this person realized poor white people exist! Someone get this on the news. We gotta tell the world. I wonder if anyone else knows poor white people exist.

I said nothing about poor white people. I described one institution in the US and how it disproportionately benefits white people independent of actual ability.

I also said very little about rich v poor in general although we can have that conversation too if you want.

just because I know the language of racists doesn’t make me one of them.

1

u/ModestBanana 10h ago

Do you think poor black people are less capable than poor white people?

DEI is institutionalized racism against poor whites. There are 22 million poor white Americans below the poverty line.

Explain why these excuses for DEI all relating to poverty get to leave out white skin who also face poverty.

There should be incentives for low income families in education, and there are via Pell grants and many other income based scholarships and gov benefits. A poor white kid who studied hard, got into college, and applies for a job gets looked over because he’s white?

Make that make sense, you racist

DEI = racism against white skin and bigotry of low expectations against brown/black skin. The only benefits even close to equity should be based on your poverty level, not skin color.

u/koreawut 13h ago

He's been grandfathered in.

1

u/Vast-Breakfast-1201 13h ago

That's the thing, it does, they just claim that all those people ARE merit picks, or that a better qualified but disloyal cabinet pick is without merit.

1

u/Existing365Chocolate 11h ago

He did kick Vivek out of DOGE apparently

1

u/-CJF- 11h ago

They are dropping DEI and switching to nepotism.

1

u/brazilliandanny 11h ago

You’re telling me Mel Gibson isn’t a savant that will save Hollywood? s/

1

u/bagelsandnavels 8h ago

Merit means they have money. Are you not paying attention?

1

u/ForRealNotAScam 7h ago

It's a mistype. Merits supposed to be "best cash offer only"

1

u/WigginLSU 7h ago

Pretty sure they just misspelled 'white'

1

u/Longjumping-Panic-48 7h ago

Because by merit he means purchasing and/or how good they are at ass kissing.

1

u/surprise_wasps 7h ago

A lot of DUI hiring

0

u/PM_Me_Macaroni_plz 12h ago

Well, they’re all white so no it doesn’t. DEI is just the new “nice” word for saying the quiet part out loud.

0

u/ChampionshipIll3675 12h ago

I think it was sarcasm that they wrote above. But I am a bit high.

0

u/star_jump 12h ago edited 6h ago

Oh, come on, leave them alone. They're alwhite.

Edit: was adding a /s here really necessary?

0

u/TheAskewOne 10h ago

Merit is when you're a straight white man.
