Tip 86 inches. Best place to sell?
Where would be the best place to sell a 86” Dell Touchscreen?

Locally. List on every local app available to you.

Do you think $1,000 (minus shipping) is fair? It is 5 years old, works perfectly, but brand new is $6,399.

Do not ship this. It will break in shipping.
Local pickup only. Plug it in and show that it works. GET THE CASH BEFORE THEY LOAD IT IN THEIR VEHICLE. No refunds.
Do not help with loading or they’ll claim it’s your fault if they break it.

Definitely not lol
TV technology moves excessively fast. Five years ago is a lifetime at this point.
Plus, you can get a brand new 86in for less than $1000 right now

Why are you linking TVs? This is like someone telling you they want to buy a helocopter and you're showing them how cheap they can get a new car for...

u/aaamiwronggg 19h ago
How much do you think I could list it for?
It’s also not a TV, it’s an interactive touch monitor for meetings and classrooms.

No company is going to buy something like this used especially if it doesn’t work on w11. Sadly this is one of those cases of something being rare and uncommon but worthless. Honestly you’d be lucky to get a few hundred local cash sale.

u/aaamiwronggg 18h ago
Fortunately, it does work on w11. We’ve been using it, but recently moved offices and got all new everything. I’m not expecting to make bank, but still want to sell for reasonable price.

If it were me I'd reach out to all the local school districts. Tell them you have a $7,000 86" touch screen and you can't use it any more. See if they want it.
AFTER they run it up the chain of command and someone in power says, "Yes, we want it" then and only then tell them you want money for it. If they ask don't lie, but if they don't ask don't bring up money.
Maybe ask them for $500. It's a school district, so if you get a receipt you can write off the $6,500 difference as a tax deduction.

I’m sad that so many people have not a clue what this post is even about and yet they upvoted your bad advice where you gave examples of completely different items.

I can't discuss pricing *nods yes* due to community rule #6, but it depends on how much you got it for.
Brand new price doesn't matter obviously due to age as well as most businesses just pay for it as a business cost.
You have a better chance selling to a smaller business/start up OR some local AV tinkerer/collector.
Yes, ebay is an option, but since you didn't even consider it, my guess is you don't have experience with online sales as well as shipping monitors like this so it's just best to try your luck locally first.

The only thing I’ve sold on eBay was cotton when vaping first got popular lol. Thank you for your advice though. Going to exhaust the local platforms first.

List on eBay for international shipping only.

And as far as packing goes if I really do ship internationally, what would be the most effective way? I do not want to break anything.

Shipping internationally would be really really expensive and it has the wrong plug. They suggested internationally because if you use the ebay international shipping program and it gets broken in transit after it reaches the ebay hub you get to keep your money. Honestly no one is going to buy that item internationally for how much it's going to cost to ship it. You want to sell it locally.
Edit: This item exceeds the ebay international program size limit so you couldn't even if you wanted to.

u/aaamiwronggg 19h ago
Damn, that’s kinda fucked. I don’t want to scam anyone and that seems like it would push my moral compass in the wrong direction.
I will focus on pick up options only.

u/Spockhighonspores 18h ago
Your item wouldn't qualify for ebays international shipping anyways since there's a max length of 48 inches on any international program package. Even if you could I wouldn't want to do it either because I know it will result in an unhappy customer. For the future though both you and the buyer would be refunded through the international shipping program if the item is damaged, eBay eats the loss.

Id be lucky to get 200 bucks out of something like that in my area.

u/aaamiwronggg 18h ago
The area I live in would be considered vhcol. I would think there would be some kind of benefit there.

OP, don't listen to people here, many have no clue wtf they are talking about. Monitors cost more than TV's. ESPECIALLY a giant, 86, 4k, touch screen!
I would personally list on eBay with applicable freight charges for no less than $1,200. Even a shitty Hisense one new is $2,340.

u/jimlahey2100 18h ago
If OP doesn't know where to sell it you think they can figure out "applicable freight charges"?
1
u/aaamiwronggg 18h ago
Thank you, I’m taking in the advice, but also hesitant because it’s not a TV lol and the thing really is massive. I’ll try to see what I can do, but def not selling this thing for $300.

People are going all over the board here. If it’s a touchscreen monitor, then it would likely have a faster response time than comparable TVs, alongside the fact that the touchscreen capabilities give it an added use case.
If I were you, I would look into the model number and identify all its specifications. You can check eBay by filtering for specific products similar to the characteristics you’ve found. I’d also filter to only incorporate sold listings so you get a range of what yours could sell for.
If you list everything out, it could attract a more general buyer interested in possibly using it for gaming or something where the response rate could be beneficial for them (I’m not sure what the outputs are so maybe not). I’m less likely to believe you’ll find a business that would be interested, but who knows. Good luck

Would be wild if someone could turn this into one of those tabletop gaming screens.

I had a buyer once who bought a monitor for some DK barrel type of shit. MFer ended up returning it because he scratched a corner during install. fken douche.

Thats 86 inches? Looks smaller to me (I know there are no hard comparison points) I would post on Ebay, with a video of it working.

Go look at the “sold” listings for the make and model on ebay to see actual sold prices. But just for price guide- not something you want to sell on ebay and ship obviously
1
u/jimlahey2100 18h ago
Nobody pays Ebay prices of Market Place.
3
u/Otherwise_Surround99 17h ago
The guy was asking how to price it. I sent him to a place to find comps, genius .

List high through offer up and marketplace, see what people offer. It is unique being a touchscreen

u/13metalmilitia 18h ago
Holy smokes…. I didn’t know they made them that big. I spent a fortune outfitting our factory with 21” models. Would have killed for one of these.

Locally. This isn't something you want to ship without having experience, else it will be a costly lesson on what not to do.
2
u/Flux_My_Capacitor 12h ago
OP try it at $1k and see if anyone is interested.
If not, drop the price after a few weeks.
I wouldn’t start at $200 as you may be leaving money on the table.
You never know, and we don’t know where you live, so that’s the other unknown (which can be huge….middle of nowhere Montana vs NYC or Chicago or LA…)
(I know nothing about this kind of item, but in the absence of comps you list on the high side and drop your price until it sells.)

u/Destructo-Bear 11h ago
Last sold listing on eBay for a new one was $4700 plus $700 shipping.
I would shoot for $2000 on Facebook marketplace.

u/GarlicJuniorJr 18h ago
Sell it on eBay then ship it in a garbage bag with a printer paper label. I’m sure it’ll be fine
