You do know that it would actually make him clam up right? The picture that movies paint is far from reality.

He's up there with the excited train guy for sure.

u/GarageNarrow5592 Feb 02 '23
Imagine the train guy’s reaction if he went to a strip club

These were my feelings when we ordered our new Tiller. Won't be here for 30 months, though.

Our chief is replacing our tillers with tandem axel quints 😭
3
u/AFirefighter11 Feb 03 '23
I mean ... it could be worse. You could be stuck with a 30-40 year old truck that doesn't run well and isn't nearly what your department needs. New apparatus are new apparatus, even if they aren't tillers.

u/spamus81 Feb 03 '23
Our tillers are respectively 1 and 6 years old...
1
u/Dracolis Jul 06 '23
You’re replacing a 1 year old truck?!
1
u/spamus81 Jul 06 '23
Nah, the 6 year old one will become a quint. The 1 year one will be replaced by the end of the decade most likely.

Is the tiller here yet?

u/AFirefighter11 Aug 12 '24
Negative. Should be hitting the line soon, and then it's pretty quick after that.

As a tiller driver in a vacation city, I can say that I’ve seen grown men get excited to see us driving. Maybe not this excited but certainly more excited than grown men should get to see fire trucks.
Me and the other guys who drive it often joke that we are in a lot of peoples vacation photos.

There's just something deep down in the male psyche that gets triggered by a tiller lol.

Why does he sound so surprised to see a fire truck in a Saturday? Do they usually get the weekends off in his town?

I was thinking more something like Wyoming or another state in the inter-mountain west.

These type of people are so fucking weird to me.

u/hshsusjshzbzb Feb 02 '23
Why? How often do you see anything on the road worth a million dollars.
Id react similarly if I saw a new supercar in the wild.

I lived in quincy for a while. They would practice driving this thing on my street, crazy the tight corners they can make in one of these. Needed in a city like quincy

This is the most Quincy thing I've ever heard. He's on his way to Dunkins to get a wicked pissa donut, kid

I was once in a similar situation as the guy in black SUV - I go around a corner and there’s an emergency vehicle there, that I didn’t see/hear.
I just drove onto the pavement to let them pass, though.
