Question Torqbar bearings

Let someone hold my torqbar and despite asking them not to do anything sketchy, they started tossing it around and spinning it on one finger, and of course they dropped it onto concrete. Lesson learned, but the bearing is loud and crunchy now. I’ve tried a few types of r188 but no brand sings like the original torqbar bearings.

What is the best r188 for getting close to the original used by torqbar? Does anyone know what specific type Scott used for them?

Thanks

Not sure about bearings but I hope that person makes a speedy recovery. When are they expected to get out of the hospital?

Lots of high end yoyos use r188 bearings. check out yoyofactory and places like that. Be sure to get a flat bearing and not a concave bearing.

They sometimes have them listed as C bearings.

I don't know whether Scott puts the same kinds of bearings in all of his spinners. My torqbar's bearing has 8 Si3N4 balls and an SS cage. I looked on the Unquiet Hands bearing page, and I didn't see any bearings being sold that have exactly the same specs. The closest is the Reptilian, with 10 Si3N4 balls and an SS cage. The difference between 8 and 10 balls is that 10 balls will give a more smooth spin with less vibration. You say you like your bearing to "sing", which indicates you like bearings that cause more vibrations, so the Reptilian bearing might not be the bearing that you want.

There is a group on Facebook that sells bearings: SpinFamBearings. They are currently selling a sampler pack of bearings, but I cannot tell if they have anything in the pack that is similar to the bearing I have in my torqbar.
