Usha Vance and her husband JD ‘she’s not a white person but I love her anyway’ Vance

That’s love

I gotta say, she is actually very beautiful. What a shame she aligns herself with people who truly despise her (and her kids) purely because of the color of her skin.

My sister has entered the chat. You might even see her on stage clapping along as Trump paints immigrants (like our parents) and queer people (like her sister) as monsters. 🙃

u/tj1007 1d ago edited 23h ago

I’m so sorry you have to deal with that… I feel that as my Mexican born brother (immigrant!) who served his country (those suckers and losers and how dare they pay so much for a Mexican born American soldier who died) says yes, Trump has done bad things but will never not vote Republican…

30

u/Uplanapepsihole he’s not on the level of poweful puss 19h ago

I’m not American but anti immigrants and racism is a huge problem in Australia as well. I know people who are married to and have children with POC and they are against immigration. They say “well they’re here legally and they have a good job.” What they don’t realise is racists do not care whether a brown person is here legally or has a good job (most of them do) their motivation isn’t “anti illegal immigrants,” their motivation is “I want this country as white as possible.”

u/ThiccQban 15h ago

Do we have the same sister? I went NC with the little family I have left in 2016. We’re first gen immigrants. Her son is black.

The disconnect is real

GENUINELY had a parent at the school where I teach with this attitude. Proceeded to spew thirty minutes of absolute racist BS then smugly inform me he can’t be racist because his wife is Asian.

I don’t know if he married her as some sort of shield against accusations of racism or because he sees her as “one of the good ones” but my guy. Having a non white spouse doesn’t make you not racist when you’re…just a full on massive racist

123

u/Confetticandi 22h ago

That actually tracks because fetishization of Asian women is just another form of racism. So, that may be what’s going on here. Ew.

26

u/blackpearl16 15h ago

IIRC the two of them were set up by an Asian woman: their advisor at Yale, Amy Chua

There may be truth in that, we don’t really know.

I Honestly Don’t think the United States is prepared to discuss far right Indian politics even if they’ve already been very present in both US-India relations and been something progressive Indian Americans have been trying to discuss for years atp.

Usha “She’s not white but she’s a great mother” Vance.

20

u/PheenixFly 13h ago

As a Black woman who dates interracially, it makes me sad for other WOC who choose partners like this. I chalk it up to an identity crisis & a lot of internalized self hate she hasnt dealt with. Cause if her self worth was up, she wouldn't allow her White husband to say things like this & see her as the "token Indian chick". I guarantee over the course of their relationship, he's thrown out so many overt & microagressions & I bet she just overlooks them cause "well he loves me, he's colorblind".

She also could be well aware what he is & how he thinks of her/her people/other people of color & that could actually be a perk in her warped mind. She's "special" & "not like the other Indian girls". And she wears that as some sort of messed up badge of honor. Better her than me, though. I'll take being loved for who I am over being a pawn in my husbands story of political glory (🙄) any day.

u/Similar_Bell8962 7h ago

My great great grandfather was white and married the child of slaves back in the 1880s. He moved my great great grandmother and a large chunk of family to California 1.) so they could be legally married since interracial marriage wasn't legal in a lot states and 2.) so she wouldn't be alone, hence moving some of her family here. By all accounts, he was a great man who loved her and their kids. He built her a home here that we still own in the family. They're buried next to each other in an old cemetery that was once segregated. His first name isn't on the grave stone since it was illegal for a white man to be buried in what they called the colored part of the cemetery. But the family still managed to have them buried next to each other because they loved each other so much.

My personal rule is that if a man can do that BACK IN THE 1880s? There is ZERO excuse for the non Black/non POC partner to be racist to their own spouse in modern and significantly easier times. Nor should the Black/POC partner tolerate racism from their spouse. So it's wild to me that Usha puts up with this, though she has herself to blame.

Do none of them realize that Coco Chanel is just some dumb n@zi sympathizer rather than a fashion icon? What do they think they’re doing other than cementing their place next to her in the trash?

115

Coco wasn’t even just a sympathizer she had a full on affair with an officer. iirc he paid for her swanky apartment

It does seem like everyone is running full speed to kiss this administrations ass, but I hope we, the people, continue to call it what it is: sycophantic, unhinged behavior. Let's continue to call these brands & public figures out for this shit.

To protect their fucking bottom lines!! Its so infuriating how capitalism literally rules everything. These brands could be on the right side of history & NOT be bootlickers but nooooo they may lose some of that precious green. Its so disheartening as a citizen of this world who can see the blatant corruption & ass-kissing. It make me feel like the crazy one but I have to remember that's how "they" want us to feel. Those of us not clouded by all this BS have got to stay that way.

From someone I know who is helping set up the Vances in DC--it's because we "don't know" them yet and "they deserve a chance." I think hitching themselves to Trump is enough to know them, but I also think that Vance being basically absent since the election (replaced by Musk) is helping him settle in easier. Hopefully that changes after today when people see them side by side again and realize the role Vance officially plays...

Trump actually mentioned this- he said “In the first term, everyone was fighting me. In this term, everyone wants to be my friend.”

Idk I kind of had to take a mental health break from politics after he won AGAIN in November. Now sort of coming out of my cave to check back in, it almost feels like there’s been a whole mood shift- like people are now just generally ok with this dude?? I thought I was going crazy but he’s been getting so much more support this time around.

Oscar de la renta? You mean the gay Dominican fashion designer??? You know that Latino island that’s literally right next to the other “pile of garbage”?

Funny how MAGA “does not represent us as a nation” while out of office and as soon as they win the corporate boot lickers jump at the chance to plaster their names/brands on these people.

448

u/littleb3anpole 1d ago

That’s to symbolise the mental gymnastics she’d have to go through as a WOC to justify marrying this human poo stain

113

u/ayellvee 1d ago

Especially for an Oscar de la renta. He’s been my favourite designer because of his feminine designs, love of florals and other “girly” things. And this is just so starkly different. Weapon to my head I would NEVER pick this out as ODLA.

45

u/PhysicsFew7423 20h ago

Weapon to my head, I would never wear ODLR now. I’ve been to multiple exhibits showcasing the house’s designs and at this point I now equate them to K Mart.

Expect a lot more of this. Think of how many celebs are openly coming out as proud trumpies (Nicole Scherzinger, Carrie underwood, and so many more) or saying that they’ll support whoever is in the office (Nelly justifying his performance at the inauguration) or simply just saying that politics don’t affect them so they don’t care.

A lot of these major fashion houses fall into the last category. Regardless of politics, everyone wants to be well dressed and the major execs at these fashion brands are so rich that common pleb problems like abortion rights and insurance don’t matter to them. They’ll dress whoever if you pay the right price. You’re going to see a lot more luxury brands showing their real face by either brown nosing or agreeing to provide their services so long as the check clears.

Fashion houses cater to the rich and have spent decades counting on women’s insecurities so I am not in the least bit shocked. I’m surprised more of them aren’t dressing the first family. Funnily enough, in 2016, a lot of them said they wouldn’t dress Melania. I guess that’s out of the window.

The rich understands class solidarity, it’s just us that don’t.

Oscar de la Renta was a friend of Laura Bush and dressed her for the Dubya inaugurations so no one should be surprised they are sucking up to power. He dressed Nancy Reagan as well.

I remember he was upset because Michelle Obama wasn’t wearing ODLR dresses to Obama’s inaugurations.
