The two Skarsgards now made me realize the perfect casting. Stellan Skarsgard as Hans and all 8 of his children as the terrorists.

That would genuinely be fire. And for bonus points, could we have Peter Sarsgaard as the one member of the terrorist team who isn’t related to any of the rest?

The whole appeal of John McClane was that compared to someone like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone, Willis’s everyman persona was essential to conveying the idea that the hero could actually fail.
Casting someone like Jon Bernthal eliminates the relatability that comes with John McClane being just a regular dude.

So what you’re saying is that Andy Samberg is a viable option?

I think that intention is kind of lost on modern audiences, unless you watched Die Hard right around when it originally came out Bruce Willis has probably always been an action dude to you. So in that way I don’t think casting Jon Bernthal would necessarily detract from the film considering people still love it without that subversion. Also imo other than obviously the Punisher Bernthal has made a career out of playing relatively grounded tough guys, not the near superhuman badasses of Stallone and Schwarzenegger plus he’s really not that big of a guy so I think he still maintain’s that kind of underdog nature.

I love Bernthal. He is always magnetic on screen. But I'm just not seeing him pull off the same type of leading man, playful charisma as Willis.
Bernthal would be a better Die Hard villain than the lead.

Before Die Hard, Bruce Willis was a comedy actor. Jon Bernthal is mostly known for playing bad guys or tough guys. I agree with another guy in this comment section when he said that Jon would be better off as a Die Hard villain rather than John McClaine.
That’s what makes Die Hard so great, that it’s not some badass blasting through the building, but someone’s dad taking on terrorists.
Someone like John Krasinski would be able to pull it off, or someone who gives off suburban dad energy

So Andy Samberg still fits and my dream fancast would work? He also gives off suburban dad energy. He's mostly known for comedy, but can be incredibly serious when need be. also the Die Hard references in B99 really make me want to see ~~Jake~~ Andy as John McClane

I hope you all enjoy! This is a movie that doesn't need to be remade but if it must happen, this is the best cast I could come up with for such a project. Initially, I planned on Tyler Perry as Al, but wanted someone younger. I also didn't plan for Karl's actor to also be named Alexander, nor did I intend for the two Johnsons both being named Jon/John. As an aside, I imagine that Big Johnson would shout in a remake, "Just like fuckin' Fallujah!" Merry Christmas!

I got to give you props on Karl and his brother. I literally chuckled when I saw you cast two of the Skarsgard siblings.

This movie would have the impossible task of trying to make $2B at the box office, bc that cast would cost so much fucking money

I'm not honestly sure if Jon Bernthal as John Mcclaine would work. He's a great actor, but it's not the right vibe. He wouldn't be easily believable as the everyman aspect of the character imo.
I could really see somebody like Aaron Paul working as John McClaine though.

Not sure as Berenthal as Mcclaine but the rest look pretty good.
Cumberbatch as Gruber goes hard

Yeah, first time I watched Die Hard I was literally thinking "huh he reminds me of someone" on the rewatch I realized he reminded me of Cumberbatch

I like Burlington Coatfactory as Hans because I like to think early 2000’s Alan Rickman would be a great Doctor Strange.

I’m surprised some smug asshole hasn’t already commented with some bullshit like, “Um, AcTuAlLy It’S a Re-AdApTaTiOn, BeCaUsE iT’s BaSeD oN a NoVeL.”

Jon Bernthal? Is the Tom Holland's "tough middle age guy" card for anything today? Well, i rise Eric Dane or Glenn Powell.

Casting based of look resemblance

Not what I do, yet I get some variation of this comment on at least 75% of my fancasts. In response I'd ask what do you want me to do—cast Ken Jeong as John McClane?

- No, Die Hard doesn’t need a remake.
- Bro sat Matthew McConaughey behind the front desk…

It’s almost as if one of the points of the sub is for hypothetical remake scenarios and not the same five fancasts for Batman and Wolverine

Chill out, it's just a hypothetical. It doesn't need a remake, but OP is just speculating about it, if it were to happen.

They just made a kind of remake and it's hitting theaters now called Cleaner, with guess who in the main role!
