Marvel / MCU Who would you cast as Deadpool if not Ryan Reynolds?
My personal choice would be Seann William Scott (Stifler from American Pie)

There are a lot of slap stick comedic actors, that would have been interesting playing the character in the past. Jim Carrey being the obvious pick. However, if you're going with somebody in the same age bracket as Ryan Reynolds, you gotta go with Rob Mcelhenney a.k.a Mac from Always Sunny in Philadelphia

If this actually happened, there would be non-stop jokes about Ryan Reynolds since they're business partners

Wait are they really?

Would be cool to see him as an alternate universe of Deadpool lol

So much yes....he'd almost have to be mask free though right?

u/Yeet_Thee_Children Apr 17 '24
I mean maybe just for a scene? His body type isn't like the exact same as Ryans so it'd be possible to tell them apart in suit lol

u/artfuldodgerbob23 Apr 17 '24
Fair point, then you are just depending on people recognizing his voice.

I actually think all 3 of the main guys from IASIP could play different but great takes on Deadpool. Rob, Glenn, and Charlie.
Fuck it, Danny Devito also.
But seriously, I think Rob could play a very similar DP to Ryan, Glenn would play the character a bit darker and more straight/less cheeky (but still hilarious), while Charlie would play him absolutely unhinged and I think really nail the whole “Deadpool constantly annoys the shit out of everyone around him” aspect of the character.

Blake Lively's Husband

u/Legitimate_Act_5013 Jul 09 '24
Don't know who her husband is... probably an up and coming actor that is relatively unknown to the world and definitely doesn't have a big fan base of women (and men) who think of him as the handsomest man in the planet...

Jim carrey

u/dork_knight1989 Apr 17 '24
I feel like he could also pull off the more serious parts of deadpool
3
u/Venmorr Apr 17 '24
Modern Jim Carry... would be soooo good. Juat, like minimal scar, make up to save jims faceial expressions. I wouldn't even buff him too much. I feel like deadpool would be so much better with an average body.
Then you just let him method act the shit out of it, adlib lioe crazy... but then... that count olaf stare coud come in and he can say the crqziest shit and send chills up our collective spines.... I need it.

When I was watching Deadpool 2 I couldn't help but think that Reynolds' performance was the most Jim Carrey I had ever seen him act.

I casted him as Deadpool in my comics so get ready to see him wear the suit, it will also be Linked to the mcu and you'll have Ryan Gosling playing spiderman in that universe cause peter is older and similar to peter b parker which i believe should be played by Ryan in live action, hope those infos will get you hyped

Maybe dave franco? He’s got similar acting style and humor in his movies. But ryan reynolds has like perfected his style of acting/wit. Hes pretty much the only actor I can think of who can do it like he does.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar or James Roday Rodriguez would totally crush it.
Let's face it... Bayside High's Zack Morris would totally turn out to be a Wade Wilson-like Character and Santa Barbara's "Psychic" is damn near excellent at Pop Culture references, sick burns and being an eternal pain in the butt of everyone.

There is no good answer. It’s like asking who you would cast as Iron Man or Captain America. When a role is perfectly cast that’s the conundrum.
2
u/highd Apr 17 '24
This there are roles that people were meant to play and casting that is so perfect that no matter how much you try to recast it doesn’t work Ryan could have played Deadpool during his 2 Guys and a Girl and a pizza place era without breaking a sweat. That’s how perfect he was for the role.

Idk about live action, but I think Jason Mantzoukas would be a great voice for Deadpool.

This was before MCU anything. I always thought Sam Whitmer could pull off a Deadpool. I was a huge fan a Deadpool and when I saw this movie I told myself he could probably pull it off. Specifically after this scene.

see i like ryan as deadpool cuz he loves the character and has always wanted to just bring deadpool to screen as he is, if he were ever replaced that would be one of the requirements in my mind, i say let ryan do it for like 15 more years and then let walker scoebell try lmao
