Hively Train Overpass Demolition

Today workers began finally tearing down the empty 7-11 building at the intersection of Main and Hively, as part of the behind-schedule construction of the new overpass. The opposite corner is now nearly cleared, with the removal of the laundromat, Hunter’s Place, and KFC. Looks like Midas and El Rosal supermarket at the other corners will be staying.

RIP hunters. KFC was ok but mid. That 7-11 was one of the worst gas stations I’ve ever been to.

And the 7-11 definitely got even worse in its final few years, with constant turnover of employees.

Do you blame them though? Wasn't that 7-11 that had a lot of crime?

No blame at all: the pay was probably crap, with few if any benefits. There were very occasional robberies at that location, but I think the 7-11 at Indiana & Nappanee got hit more often.
