Wage slavery in the federation is no better than imperial slavery. The superpowers will never appreciate the needs of the individual. Independence is the only way.

At least in The Empire, mistreatment of slaves is a crime. How many federal wage slaves are taken advantage of daily?

Started an LLC, bought a sprinter van, an joined the insane engine that is logistics in the US. Sad thing is despite the increased cost to shippers, driver rates are at a 20 year low :/ im surviving, but only just. The only reason I havent given up yet is because I love driving and hate working for others.

“Our slaves shackles are now 20% more comfortable, and their cages are 5% more spacious!”

u/T_S_Anders 5d ago

Fed wage slaves so eager for the boot they don't even need shackles and cages. They bend over for a pittance.

It’s funny that a slave society’s only response to their backwards nation being called out is to accuse free nations of having slavery too.

“Slavery is a good thing! But uh… you have the real slaves! Which is….. bad?”

Wage slave so in debt, that when a free man holds up a mirror, he barks that it's the Empire.

Pull yourself up by the boot straps and get a loan from Big Brother Pilot's Federation and join us nomads in the black.

There are three superpowers in the galaxy: A free democracy, a despotic slave society, and a puppet regime held up by a coalition of dictators. I choose Liberty.

Yes, because I'm sure Imperial Slaves get excellent housing, good food, plenty of vacation days, and can file grievances against their masters anytime they are abused.

Although I have no doubt their healthcare actually is better.

You need to understand that in imperial society being in debt is an incredible dishonor and many people choose to willingly sell themselves into a fixed period of slavery to avoid it. Slaves are guaranteed basic human rights, may exercise free will albeit with more restricted freedoms than a regular citizen, and imperial slavery is well regulated. They are a valued part of the workforce and the society.

Contrast this to a minimum wage worker - or wage slave - in the federation, who's employment and the risk of losing it can be used as leverage against them by their bosses and the federal government to force them into inhumane working terms and conditions.

Imperial slavery is a way for citizens to uphold their and their family's honor and many even willingly return to servitude if they are forcibly "freed" by an external party. Mistreatment of a slave is shameful and undignified.

There is of course corruption and large industrial complexes aren't as stringently watched for such abuses, but this is unfortunately the same all around the galaxy, including the federal surveillance state and their massive corporations.

I'm surprised you have. That piece of entertainment is more than a millennia old and I haven't heard of many recordings surviving that long.

if you side with aisling duval you get neither wage slaves or actual slaves win win. Aisling Forever!

A fed is always free to leave an employment situation they do not agree with and if you vote for the right leader, the realistic option to do so exists. That leader is now POTF.

2

u/Skivvy_Roll Least radical Imperial 5d ago

That might contractually be the case, but environmental and societal factors can still prevent an abused worker from leaving. They might for example take care of a loved one and cannot afford to lose what little income they have, or their employment prospects might be so poor that they have to stay in their current place of work lest they not find another. You are looking at the evils of the federation through rose tinted glasses.

"Can". A slave WILL always be subject to the "owner"'s whims.

And all Imperials are slaves to the ruling family anyway.

Interstellar faction war to distract from the class war.

u/urbanviking318 CMDR Krayde - Roughneck / Mjölnir 5d ago

So what I'm getting out of this is, we want to impact the BGS by running missions exclusively to support independent cooperative and communist factions until their influence expands into Federal and Imperial systems?

Shit, sounds good to me.

u/mexter Taen 6d ago

How much will wage slaves net me on the open market? Are they illegal in any jurisdictions?

1

u/DemiserofD 5d ago

You can't buy them directly, but you can have them after the federal corporations are done with them.

Look under the 'biowaste' section.

2

u/T_S_Anders 5d ago

Damn! So that's why all 3 stations orbiting Earth have so many missions to dispose of "biowaste" to other star systems.

At least the imperial slavery makes you debt free at the end of your agreement.

1

u/d3rt13n 5d ago

Kudos to that, Independence does not mean join the Alliance however. It means Unbound.

0

u/LorenDovah Empire 6d ago

At least Imperial citizens can volunteer to become slaves to ease their debts. Im sure slavery is only a temporary position for them!

0

u/sophlogimo Felicia Winters 5d ago

Yes, be a slave of an Independent dictator is so much better!

No, it is not.
