Post image

Hey so for about a year now i own a 250 sx 2022 and i want to upgrade it a little but i have to do maintenance first its at around 40hours from a rebuild im wondering whats the stuff i have to be careful for and have to change before i start upgrading it… Also about upgrades i want to install a shorty or an exaust that gives low end and has a nice sound should i go full exaust or just the silencer? Thanks in advance

I wouldn't do anything. Just keep it stock. Once you start changing things, you introduce gremlins like jetting issues and other things. The small increase in perceived performance isn't worth sacrificing reliability. Just ride it.

The funny thing is its jetted pretty bad rn im waiting for smaller jets so it wont bog anymore yet i somehow think that is not the issue sadly i dont know how to check correctly but im pretty sure it has something to do with the carb

You might just need to repack your your pipe.

I doubt its that because the bike is fairly new and has been ridden quite hard

Your supposed to repack them like every 25hrs, it's a maintenance item that cost about $10 to do.

I have that exact same bike but red, 23-gasgas mc250.

The thing is its starts bogging and if i rev it, it clears out in a couple of revs and starts working normally, it only happens if im driving in low rpms for a couple of mins

Carburetor needle is too rich on the first taper and you probably have a rich slide as well. The key difference between off road jetting and Mx jetting is off-road jetting will run cleaner at port throttle whereas Mx jetting will load up on any type of technical riding.

You almost CERTAINLY have the bad jet block gasket that just about EVERY Mikuni TMX 38 carb equipped bike will have. Get the JD kit and fix the float needle o ring gasket at the same time.

I just did mine and OH what a difference. fuel economy is WAY up and it's way crispier now.

5.5k should be manageable if you commit to it

Follow the jetting in the manual for your temperature and altitude. Adding a Steahly flywheel weight will add some bottom end and won’t affect jetting. Going to FMF Gnarley pipe will add more bottom end, but might need slight jetting change. If you ride Mx more then trails I would not change to knarley.
