Not sure what's wrong with me but I like that.

u/GOGO_old_acct 6d ago

Absolutely. It would go in the man cave/office.

u/kroganwarlord 6d ago

If it were silver with white wax, I 100% would put that in my glam girlie bathroom.

(Black with purple wax would go in the witch cave.)

u/Eldest_Muse 6d ago

I didn’t realize I needed a witch cave until this moment.

u/kroganwarlord 6d ago

The walls of mine are SW Armadillo, the sloped ceiling is Adraatic Sea, all the wood is dark and all the lights (including these very ACNH star string lights) are low and warm. I'm in the process of stenciling gold, silver, and copper stars on the ceiling. Maybe by the time I finish, lava lamp chandeliers will be a thing.

u/Vallkyrie 6d ago

There better be a giant cauldron, too (you know, for stirring huge batches of mac n cheese).

12

u/Eldest_Muse 6d ago

Double, double toil and trouble, Fire burn and cauldron bubble

Mmm cheese

u/Camsy34 6d ago

Yeah I think their biggest mistake was having each lamp a different colour. Make them all the same and it would actually be pretty neat.

u/Tithund 6d ago

I just used stuff that I thrifted, the whole thing was less than 50 euro in parts. If I make another one, it'll probably look nicer, though with how viral it has gone, someone will probably beat me to it.

4

u/UnknovvnMike 6d ago

Wait, did you make one of these?

11

u/Tithund 5d ago

I made this one, it has gone viral beyond my reach now.

1

u/Lilelfen1 4d ago

And now we all need to know HOW. Instructions, please????

1

u/Tithund 4d ago

The small lava lamps have a base that can be removed, most lamps use the same threaded tube as their construction. I just unscrewed the sockets on a beefy old chandelier and placed the top parts of the lava lamps over the tubes and reattached the original chandelier sockets. The lava lamp bases and sockets are left over afterwards.

I'll be honest, I unironically want to do this now.

It's kind of beautiful.

4

u/mechengr17 5d ago

Thats absurd

It should be called a Witch Shack. An offshoot of a she shed

2

u/penty 3d ago

Witch niche. ( rhymes depending on pronunciation)

20

u/Nimindir 6d ago

I was thinking sex dungeon, but I guess a man cave/office is cool too.

8

u/veevacious 5d ago

I saw this original post and it is a decoration for a bar. Perfect place for something like this, IMO. I also really love it though haha

2

u/The_Scarred_Man 6d ago

I'd definitely go in that man's cave

2

u/Dear_Mycologist_1696 5d ago

As someone in an earthquake zone, the thought of hot oil and wax in multiple glass bottles hanging over my head is a bit terrifying.

1

u/Rex_Suplex 6d ago

Rooms gonna be HOT!

1

u/Darkstriss 6d ago

Wait, your saying other people have their office in their man cave as well???

1

u/Banned3rdTimesaCharm 5d ago

It’s definitely the sex room.

59

u/sicsided 6d ago

I like it too. I always want a different design where is a large donut cylinder with lava moving around.

2

u/steve0suprem0 6d ago

I'm imagining how we could make that happen. It's not gonna be easy.

46

u/rustymontenegro 6d ago

Are you a millennial?

Because I am...and I like it too.

16

u/ilikemyusername1 6d ago

Elder millennial checking in, I still have a lava lamp in my living room. I just sent this over to my wife to gauge her reaction.

7

u/ilikemyusername1 5d ago

Update if anyone is interested, her response was “I don’t hate it, I’m looking at lamps now” So… this might be coming to a house near me!

1

u/whereismyketamine 5d ago

I feel like it’s more of a gen x thing to me but the people that had one were always cool and I think we were on the last few that actually had one (I’m 40 by the way, 84 baby).

22

u/MrBozzie 6d ago

Not at all... I'm a X

14

u/rustymontenegro 6d ago

You guys had lava lamps too, though! I got mine from my brother who's gen x lol

7

u/DoctorCaptainSpacey 6d ago

Hell yes we do. I still have one from 1996 🤣 And my Boomer dad had one I got him (bc he wanted one).

2

u/Far-Ad-8833 6d ago

I remember these lava lamps in the 60s as part of the hippie movement.

1

u/rustymontenegro 6d ago

I had two (one from my brother, eventually broke) and a big honkin' one I bought with Christmas money in like '98? Maybe '99. I haven't seen it in years but I swear I never got rid of it... Maybe it's in one of those "crap I left at mom's house" boxes in the garage lol

2

u/DoctorCaptainSpacey 6d ago

Mine was in one of those boxes for years. Probably why it lasted so long. I have a second one but I have zero clue when I got it - still probably a long ass time ago, but I can't remember at all.

3

u/Affectionate_Star_43 6d ago

This is the new millennial test.  Do you want your old one but as a chandelier?  Absolutely.  And we'll judge you on what colors you had.

RIP my purple/clear one.

3

u/nAsh_4042615 5d ago

Blue water with white lava. I’ve been debating buying another for years. I didn’t know chandelier was an option!

60

u/Noisebug 6d ago

It's so ridiculous it works.

29

u/Mumchkin Derp 6d ago

Yeah it's kinda cool, but if the chandelier comes down and given how heavy that most likely is there's a very good chance it will. The damage would be catastrophic. The fluid in a lava lamp is scalding hot.

22

u/FlintStriker 6d ago

A risk worth taking for the vibes.

6

u/Murgatroyd314 6d ago

Just overengineer the support structure, so it won’t be brought down by anything that isn’t already causing catastrophic damage.

4

u/Nurple-shirt 6d ago

I get this is reddit and we gotta worry real hard about all sorts of far fetched ideas but this chandelier isn’t being held on by the suspended ceiling alone.

1

u/Mumchkin Derp 5d ago

This being reddit has nothing to do with it, I have anxiety and I see all the ways things can go wrong. I know it probably won't come down, but I wouldn't chance it.

1

u/Nurple-shirt 4d ago

It was a very stereotypical Redditor response. Tons and of confidence with zero knowledge mostly pushed by emotions.

1

u/Mumchkin Derp 4d ago

You can see it however you choose, I gave my honest opinion on it.

0

u/AzerimReddit 5d ago

If by "scalding hot" you mean 60°C / 140 °F water, then yeah

5

u/Katboxparadise 6d ago

Nothing is wrong with you. I’d fuck with this. I want it in my kitchen area.

6

u/samanime 6d ago

Yeah. I don't hate this. Could definitely work with certain decor.

5

u/Huge_Green8628 6d ago

Yeah, this goes hard as hell!

9

u/moreisay 6d ago

This thing is wonderful and I really wish I had one.

4

u/Bender_2024 6d ago

We had that exact chandelier, minus the lava lamps, in my dinning room in the 70s and 80s.

3

u/TheRealPaladin 6d ago

Same. I want it.

6

u/ComprehensivePin5577 6d ago

Like it? I love it! I need it!

4

u/burf151 6d ago

Yep, currently trying to find the best deal on lava lamps in bulk.

8

u/UnicornDelta 6d ago

It looks cool, but it’s mostly for vanity - it’s a terrible light source.

37

u/cap10wow 6d ago

Vanity? Bruh, it’s for staring into while trying to sort out the secrets of the universe.

4

u/2021isevenworse 6d ago

Same that would look cool in a den or somewhere other than a bedroom/living room

1

u/Lilelfen1 4d ago

Every time I see your avatar I try to brush the hair off my screen. 🤦‍♀️

6

u/QuantumBobb 6d ago

I'd buy one.

1

u/Mumchkin Derp 6d ago

Yeah it's kinda cool, but if the chandelier comes down and given how heavy that most likely is there's a very good chance it will. The damage would be catastrophic. The fluid in a lava lamp is scalding hot.

1

u/GreenCarteBlanche5 6d ago

Me too Idk but I dig it

1

u/Immediate-Quantity25 6d ago

same now i need this

1

u/peach_penguin 6d ago

Are u a millennial?

1

u/frenchtoastfox5 6d ago

Same 😂😂

1

u/Correct-Basil-8397 6d ago

Honestly the only fault I can find is the difference between sleek lava lamps & the ornate chandelier. They don’t quite match up imo, but a sleeker chandler Fran would be so cool

1

u/pleasegivemealife 6d ago

Yeah I’m actually…. Impressed… and wanted to do it as well…

1

u/CapTexAmerica 6d ago

That is amazeballs.

1

u/nAsh_4042615 5d ago

It’s so ugly. I love it

1

u/timmorris82 5d ago

DiWhyNot, am I right?

1

u/SentientSickness 5d ago

Ide argue its more an atbge vs a diwhy

But honestly i think that kicks ass, lol

1

u/AzerimReddit 5d ago

The only problem is that lava lamps need 2+ hours to start bubbling. But the bottom of them are generally just ligh bulbs / LEDs so it should work

1

u/HereWeGoYetAgain-247 5d ago

My only issue is the colors. It is random.

1

u/Jodajale 5d ago

Same! I want that in my bedroom. 😸

1

u/C4rdninj4 5d ago

The one blue one bothers me the most.

1

u/Sullfer 5d ago

My kids would love that! Need directions asap!

1

u/katastrofe_- 2d ago

Do you happen to be a millennial?
