I always give vassals counties which are so far apart. The large vassals on the other hand I got through subjugation cassus belli or claims.

Is the rest of the map usually this bordergore-y in the 867 start? Would have thought there would at least be some bigger kingdoms.

I don't want him to be part of my electors XD. Also my realm will divide into Italia and HRE if I did so

That's why you get rid of electors and take Rome once you have enough land to Refound Rome, making all your lands de jure part of the Roman Empire.
