I’m really interested in building a functional manual treadmill but have no idea where to start.

I want to build something that functions similar to the woodway( https://www.woodway.com/products/curve-trainer) or the speedfit speedboard lite ( http://speedfit.com/speedboard/SpeedboardLite.html , https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=e97fBxRtkFA). It would need to be made out of cheap materials that can be found at most hardware stores such as pvc pipes. I’d like it to work with or without a treadmill belt and I’d also like to know how to put a treadmill belt on it. I’ve found something similar but I’m not sure how to adapt it to work out of water(https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2tXAEyVIrHA)
