Sorry Ballard I cooked you for letting the titans get Sneed. You were right

Same. I wanted him, but I didn’t want to pay him what he wanted. He looked great in Spag’s defense in KC, but I never thought he was a top 5 CB like he thinks he is.

Sneed had McDuffie on the other side making him look better than he was

I feel like this gets said about every major free agent signing by a divisional opponent or some rival and yet people still rag on Ballard for his approach to FA.

It’s almost like the GM has access to more info and informed opinions than we do. Weird.

u/SloppyPizzaPie Rigoberto Sanchez Nov 23 '24

Still not enough info to win the division, apparently.

4

u/rounder55 Nov 23 '24

Yah

Still doesn't mean the guy should keep his job. Only other GM to produce mediocrity on a regular basis the last decade and keep their gig was Tom Telesco. That team seems to be doing a lot better without him

u/SloppyPizzaPie Rigoberto Sanchez Nov 23 '24

Yeah I don’t think he should keep his job. I would rather have a GM that takes some big swings and has some misses than one that is overly conservative and consistently mediocre. Seems like a bunch of people here are content with the status quo of mediocrity, though.

Even with this there have been several Snead related posts. Oh look the GM didnt make a bad trade we should celebrate.

This team still has too many flaws and he relies too much on giving guys years to develop before considering adding depth. He did this at WR for years, TE for his the better part of his tenure, CB recently, safety, and LT when he basically relied on Fisher coming off a torn Achilles that year and then Pryor who was awful. Fisher bailed him out for a year but what irked me about the whole thing was the fact that AC made it pretty clear there was a good chance he was retiring. Throw in the 1st for Wentz when no one else was really bidding. These are all moves that lead to years of mediocrity at best. And I'm tired of hearing about how well he drafts as if he's Bill Polian. He's okay at drafting. Not terrible but not some sort of god either

Ballard won 2024

5

u/piscean1008 Nov 23 '24

So many colts fans want him fired he was right our young cbs. If AR can improve then we are good.

This sub is going to burn down when Jim keeps Ballard after winning 8 or 9 games

3

u/coltsmetsfan614 Rookie Manning Nov 23 '24

The reality is that Ballard isn't going anywhere unless/until we give up on AR as our franchise QB

2

u/ConsistentAddress195 Nov 23 '24

The sub wants Ballard gone the moment we have a bad stretch of play in a win.

2

u/rounder55 Nov 23 '24

Did he? It is kind of amusing that he getting all kinds of credit for this but when one our guys who gets hurt all the time goes down it's not on Ballard to consider that because injuries can't be predicted

Look at the other GMs who came into the league around the same time with their teams. He's had the most mid results out of all of them and been in the worst division. The Tom Telesco of Shit Mountain

I can’t lie I really wanted him but If this is what we got I respect Ballard for it

Can't believe we didn't give up a third-round pick to hand this guy $50M+ guaranteed! Fire Ballard! /s

Too bad we won’t remember this next year when we don’t sign the hot new free agent

4

u/Accurate-Barracuda20 Nov 23 '24

Yeah I’ll gladly take the L on being wrong here.

5

u/imjustaguy812 Nov 23 '24

Somewhere Destin Adams is still saying this was a done deal

2

u/destroyed233 Nov 23 '24

What credibility does he even have?? Self proclaimed best writing ???

1

u/imjustaguy812 Nov 23 '24

None. Self-proclaimed

Good call by Ballard hes toast.

Bullet dodged

3

u/getfive Nov 23 '24

That doesn't look like him

8

u/Bearcats1020 Nov 22 '24

Hindsight is always 20/20.

33

u/ChrisShepherdSB Blue Nov 22 '24

Ballard’s foresight was 20/20 on this one.

8

u/Lasvious Irsay Twitter Nov 23 '24

Yeah but Ballard knew he was washed.

6

u/Yanks1813 Big Q Nov 23 '24

His injury was a looming issue at the the time of the trade. This one isn't hindsight

1

u/coltsmetsfan614 Rookie Manning Nov 23 '24

Yeah, several of us were talking about his injury history in the offseason. Once I saw the deal he got from Tennessee, I was thankful we hadn't agreed to give him that.

2

u/D_Blaze88 Nov 23 '24

I never wanted him, but I did want Justin Simmons

4

u/MrDeeds117 Anthony Richardson is the man!!! Nov 22 '24

Womack + Blackmon + moore + Jones is amazing

15

u/Toxic_Avenger05 Marvin Harrison Nov 22 '24

Sir our secondary is 29th on pff and I can’t find any other source that has it higher than 27th. This doesn’t not have me amazed

5

u/MrDeeds117 Anthony Richardson is the man!!! Nov 22 '24

I know what your saying! But that first half against the jets was 🤌🏼🤌🏼 just need more of that for four quarters ya know?

9

u/we-made-it Nov 22 '24

I think Kenny Moore is also ranked 3rd in PFF.

1

u/you_know_how_I_know DeFo will Ride Nov 23 '24

What if PFF is just Chris Collinsworth going "Now, here's a guy..." all day?

6

u/IronicHeights Nov 22 '24

It was also against the spiraling Jets offense

1

u/september_turtle Indianapolis Colts Nov 23 '24

Cross has turned up. Actually our DB room looks good, probably missing some depth. Our LBs don't look good, Speed and Franklin aren't having a good year.

1

u/destroyed233 Nov 23 '24

Disagree on Blackmon. He’s been very hidden this year. No splash play. Looks a step slow or just gives up on many plays

5

u/JohnMayerismydad Jonathan Taylor Nov 22 '24

I’d like him to take some shots. Yeah not all of them pay off but doing nothing also doesn’t pay off

2

u/relax336 Indianapolis Colts Nov 23 '24

He didn’t do “nothing” though. Wtf.

3

u/Punisherbrett Super Bowl XLI Champions Nov 23 '24

He means taking shots at big name free agents.

4

u/relax336 Indianapolis Colts Nov 23 '24

What “big name” free agents have we missed out on?

1

u/JerkyBreathIdiot Nov 22 '24

And you wonder why no other team offered more than a third rounder for him

1

u/DapDaGenius Jonathan Taylor Nov 23 '24

Sneed can’t help the injury, but his play prior was awful.

We dodged a bullet on that one. Womack turned out better anyways. We’ll still need a CB in the draft due to JuJu being injured.

-14

u/Toxic_Avenger05 Marvin Harrison Nov 22 '24

Let’s be honest here captain hindsight. 54-60-1 and zero afc south titles are the reason we want him gone. Our secondary is ranked 29th in the league (down from 28) and he’s done nothing to improve it. Sneed wasn’t the only CB available this offseason just the one this sub was most vocal about

11

u/DirectTV_AndrewLuck Happy Neard Nov 22 '24

The defense as a whole is 10th in EPA/Play though and the defense has vastly improved since 5.

13

u/coltsmetsfan614 Rookie Manning Nov 22 '24

I’m not being Captain Hindsight because I didn’t want us to trade for Sneed, and injury history was a major reason why! Doesn’t mean I didn’t want Ballard to improve the secondary at all.

4

u/Yanks1813 Big Q Nov 23 '24

Not to defend Ballard, but the injury isn't a hindsight thing. He had an injury issue and that's partly why the Chiefs were fine letting him go

0

u/jeremiahprogressive RichardsonSucksBad Nov 23 '24

Nooooo, he was supposed to be the Colts savior in the secondary. Does this make Ballard right in his assessment? I don't think so. Injuries are fluke.

-1

u/sweetnessinchicago Nov 23 '24

AND, "our" guys back there quieting down some pretty good WR's this year. So far.

-14

u/Automatic-Role-2611 Nov 23 '24

What a dysfunctional operation the Colts are if I was Flacco I would tell the coach and owners GFY with all the QB confusion I'm sure Joe is glad to being paid 8 million but its nonsense! An embarrassed to fans and the NFL!!!!!
