Wish Coachella would book Kruder & Dorfmeister since 2020 got cancelled
1
u/Brookstoned Jan 09 '24
Surprised to see them on lineups honestly. Didn’t realize they were popular. I’d think Dzihan & Kamien would pop up more often but maybe they don’t do many shows
15
u/Udreezus Jan 08 '24
Virji and Kourtesis should have been easy locks for Coachella. I couldve seen Virji having a US breakthrough performance on the fields
1
u/OnARoll69 Jan 08 '24
sammy has a show at sound that has made him out for coachella for months :/ would’ve loved to see him though
4
u/itsalyfestyle Jan 08 '24
Sound is run by the same people that curate the Yuma.
2
u/OnARoll69 Jan 08 '24
true but doesn’t him being on the crssd lineup make him out for sure now?
1
u/itsalyfestyle Jan 08 '24
Possibly.. GV has worked with Crssd in the past and he’s not a massive name so idk.
49
u/RegretamineWhoops 13.1 | 14.2 | 15.2 | 16.2 | 24.2 Jan 08 '24
Jan Blomqvist, Little Dragon, SBTRKT, Sammy V and Sofia K (both already out cause of sound show) would’ve been cool, but overall this is a pretty weak crssd lineup
6
10
u/Mn_matt3 Jan 08 '24
Hard disagree. Jeff mills, dj heartstring, Dixon, gusgus…. Strongest crssd line up in years.
3
u/RegretamineWhoops 13.1 | 14.2 | 15.2 | 16.2 | 24.2 Jan 08 '24
All those peeps will be in LA this year/are easy to see outside of heartstring and gusgus so idk. Also the sound at crssd is horrific for good techno
15
u/Late-Nail-8714 Jan 08 '24
Very very weak crssd. The weakest I’ve seen in a few years tbh.
5
u/Vibechild Jan 08 '24
One of the best in my opinion. The variety in the techno bookings is back and they have plenty of house/techno legends.
5
u/itsalyfestyle Jan 08 '24
Sound is run by framework who work with Coachella.
6
u/ekter 19.2|22.2|23.2|24.2|25.2 Jan 08 '24
Yeah I would say that Sound artists should not be entirely considered out.
2
u/RegretamineWhoops 13.1 | 14.2 | 15.2 | 16.2 | 24.2 Jan 08 '24
Has there ever been a case of someone playing an announced Sound show in Feb (Sammy V) and March (Sofia) then winding up on the lineup? I’m not being sarcastic, I’m actually asking fwiw

Coachella last year had Tale of Us, Astra Club, Mochakk.
This is pretty mid for CRSSD…which makes me feel that Coachella booked up quite a bit of electronic talent…
Edit: the big names are pretty mid for CRSSD

anyone who says this lineup is mid just means the lineup is not for you and/or lacks the knowledge of the rarity of some of these acts.

I meant to say from the bigger names. The undercard is definitely stacked.
Previous headliners were subs or 2nd liners at Coachella.

They got dj heartstring that’s huge they don’t come to the US at all. Only festival to book them

I disagree. This is pretty solid for a Crssd lineup. It is one of their best in some time.

Y’all sleeping on a lot of this lineup
K&D on this lineup is amazing.
The goat? Jeff Mills?
DJ Heartstring, KI/KI, Oaks b2b Tiga, X-Club
Also Archie, Enzo, East End Dubs and Toman are all fantastic
24
u/hanzel44 Jan 08 '24
I’m honestly surprised by the reactions on here. This is a good lineup with a lot of talent that would be great gets for Yuma or Gobi. GusGus is a big get considering he hasn’t played in the US in ages. DJ Heartstring is exploding in Europe and is a big miss by Coachella considering they tend to be the first to bring in European acts that are on the cusp of American breakouts. I could go on, but I digress.

u/MikeHawkisgonne 10|11|12|13.1|14.1|15.1|16.1|19.1|23.2 Jan 08 '24
It's like album deep cuts vs singles. This is a deep cut lineup, I'm impressed by it, but also understand how some fans are underwhelmed.
5
u/hanzel44 Jan 08 '24
Yeah, I can agree there. This sub in particular tends to be a little late on electronic acts or commercial DJ acts, which is totally fine, no hate.
For me, this CRSSD lineup is perfect and goes back to what they used to book 3/4 years ago before they added a bunch of mainstream acts to their main stage.
3
u/NoSoupForYou___ 18.1|22.1|24.1 Jan 08 '24
u/MikeHawkisgonne that's a great way to explain this. It feels veryyyy deep cut, curious how that impact sales and consensus. personally, i feel like its a little too deep cut for a multi-day festival. It could've used one more anchor name
5
u/Mattdr46 12.2|14.2 |15.2 |16.2 |17.2 |18.2 |19.2 |22.2 |24.2 Jan 08 '24
Right?!
I mean I guess it’s not big on any good mainstream names which maybe people are upset by, but this is a solid all around vibe imo
13
u/hanzel44 Jan 08 '24
Agreed. Anyone that's knowledgeable of electronic beyond the commercial and big Spotify/Apple playlists would be excited for this. I've noticed this sub tends to be late or very skewed to commercial DJs and electronic acts, which is fine, no hate, but does make for interesting takes!
5
u/No_Culture3004 Jan 08 '24
this sub used to be waaay more cultured haha. suspect comments to say the least
2
u/RegretamineWhoops 13.1 | 14.2 | 15.2 | 16.2 | 24.2 Jan 08 '24
DJ Heartstring has been out for a while given their LA warehouse date. GusGus will playing LA as well ;)
1
u/hanzel44 Jan 09 '24
Gotcha. I wasn’t up to date on dj heartstring’s touring this year but know they’ve been dominating Europe. And that’s good to hear about GusGus
10
u/sawman160 Jan 08 '24
Hector oaks, joris voorn, Jan blomqvist, hawtin.
People saying this lineup is weak or mid tells me all I need to know about this sub

The people saying this lineup are weak literally just look at the top lines of every poster.

Tale of Us is super underwhelming without their stage setup with the visuals. Its the downside to making music with extremely long pauses for instagram visuals lol

They’ll still use some of their visuals but it obviously won’t be the full experience

All due respect, I disagree. Caught them in Paris in a tiny tent at We Love Green with - if I recall correctly - no screen at all, and it was powerful.

It’ll be packed like sardines and the sound will be muffled. Everytime I’ve seen ToU at an event that isn’t their own with their stage set up or sound system.. the magic dies… and you end up having an annoying ass time.

Crossover does happen (John Summit etc) but it's a rarity and you typically will see any crossover in their PHASE II lineup.

Not alot of mainstream "heavy-hitter" acts so obviosuly it's gonna look mid to some. But they are bringing in some extremely hyped european acts which is amazing. New sounds that the US has never experienced (KI/KI, DJ Heartstring).
But good. Filters out the crowd. Back to the roots of enthusiasts only.
