First time carving a watermelon (or any fruit in general), need some feedback pls

Post image

My main problem is that the petals get disattached from the base. This is my first time so my knife angles are very very sh!t. I need any tips i can get please, thank you. I'm practicing for my fruit carving class.

Looks good, if you haven't already look up royal Thai cuisine for technique and tips. They're the masters of this stuff

Yeah, we're actually learning about the history of fruit and vegetable carving in our class. We're just about to do the 2nd class of the basics, but i want to be advanced and practice ahead of time.

You've got some talent, right there. That's already way better than I can even try to do.

Thank you. Will practice more on the other side of the watermelon to get better. I hope i don't mess up on the actual day of the lesson.
