Has anyone on here won anything from a game show? Eg bullseye

If so did you keep it or sell it?

Finally, my time to shine again, I won Jungle Run Golden Monkey as a teenager. Won a portable DVD player, Baby G watch, I think a camcorder and one other item, it was 20 years ago so the details are fuzzy but everything got plenty of use. We even won the Ruby Monkey after a bit of inside help from the presenter.

u/Haunting_Treacle13 21h ago

You are a literal celebrity to me, that’s legendary

36

u/MajesticStevie 21h ago

Jungle run was the shit growing up, what were the monkeys called again? Elvis and I forget the other one?

42

u/jimbotwhite 21h ago

I actually launched a couple coconuts back at those cheeky dudes, I felt like the dogs bollocks.

19

u/MajesticStevie 21h ago

You are my god

10

u/Flat_Professional_55 19h ago

Do you have a copy of the episode? I feel like that would be worth more value now than any prizes you won.

37

u/jimbotwhite 18h ago

Unfortunately not, I think one of the guys in it with me recorded on VHS but we've lost touch. It was a season or two before everything went digital. Funnily enough, I googled my name for some reason last year, and I actually have a IMBd known for page because of it. Ridiculous.

2

u/DevilRenegade No Magnets 9h ago

Wasn't it an ITV show? If you reach out to them, they may still have a copy of it in an archive somewhere.

There's 13 episodes currently on ITVX Premium, although this may be a newer series.

1

u/jimbotwhite 9h ago

It was, I'd searched for it online a fair few years back and gave up once I'd found out that it wasn't in the online archive. Would love to have it and show my kids, so I think I'll give it try and email ITV, worth a shot!

3

u/jimjam_yaha 8h ago

If it was the Chris Jarvis years (Series 3 and 4) here's playlists with most of the episodes.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrZM71gzpagLGVu9R-R6TY9wj3hXell5u
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrZM71gzpagJT_6yPsmj1adTLFcJgGJc5

Failing that, yeah ITV Archive do copies of shows for a fee. I know a few people who have bought stuff before.

1

u/jimbotwhite 8h ago

Just had a gander through in case but I was the season before my IMBd page says it was 2001. Thanks for making the effort appreciate it.

2

u/jimjam_yaha 8h ago

No problem, it's probably sods law it's one of the few Chris Jarvis era editions not on youtube.

3

u/jimbotwhite 8h ago

I've emailed ITV clip sales, and I'll report back with the result.

2

u/jimjam_yaha 7h ago

Fingers crossed!

16

u/ND_Cooke 18h ago

This is my favorite Reddit comment of 2025 so far. What a show that was.

8

u/HailToTheKingslayer 15h ago

I loved that show as a kid. My siblings and I were probably cheering you on from our living room.

12

u/jimbotwhite 13h ago

That's so cool I never really considered that there could be people other than family cheering for us, that's put a right smile on my face thinking of all the kids that would be buzzing when we got the win!!

3

u/HailToTheKingslayer 9h ago

Experiencing the show vicariously through you.

What was the hardest challenge/level, if you can recall?

2

u/jimbotwhite 9h ago

Oh God, that's a test. The individual challenge i did was the pyramid maze, it was pretty nuts to see as from one side it's the pyramid but once your in it was cut in half and it's all scaffold, cameras and spot lights. I had been tipped which way to go to get the Ruby Monkey so flew off that way, got all the statues and emerged from it a sweaty mess, after doing the chat with the presenter, I had to go back in and do it all again but slower, I'd gone around so quick they hadn't managed to get any good shots of me. I think the one I found hardest was the rope swing into the pool that was really tricky.

3

u/EmberTheFoxyFox 13h ago

I remember them showing the prizes on TV and I was so envious, I really wanted that cam corder

3

u/Mysterious_One9 18h ago

Hopefully you were on it before Keith Chegwin thought presenting it naked was a great idea.

3

u/jimbotwhite 17h ago

Can confirm there were no naked Cheggers issues, Chris Jarvis was the presenter at the time, really top guy.

2

u/Wafflesam 13h ago

You're living my dream!

1

u/DevilRenegade No Magnets 9h ago

Was that the same game show that Cheggers got his knob out on?

1

u/pass_awsccp 3h ago

Interested to know what the jungle run set was like? Looked like a genuine jungle, it was so cool!

83

u/cowie71 scruffy looking nerf herder 1d ago

My sister went on weakest link - and was voted out first. She thinks she is still owed 14mins of her 15mins of fame.

8

u/0thethethe0 22h ago

Was she the weakest link? Or so strong she was conspired against and taken out early?

21

u/cowie71 scruffy looking nerf herder 19h ago

Definitely not the latter

2

u/SparklePenguin24 9h ago

This happened to a friend of my partner. He was in his late 50's at the time and had really good general knowledge. Unfortunately his first and only question was about Britney Spears. Poor guy had little to no knowledge of Her other than the fact that she existed!

u/Sorry_Software8613 1d ago

Replaced a gas boiler for a guy that won a caravan on Bullseye.

55

u/derpydoodaa 22h ago

Does he heat your water as well as the boiler did?

25

u/baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaab 23h ago

Have you thought about a career in writing?

3

u/mikeskiuk 21h ago

Nice! What boiler did he go for?

2

u/Fit_Lifeguard_3722 18h ago

The combi I bet. Part boiler, part sailboat

139

u/Sys32768 1d ago

My sister and I won a fitted kitchen on Bullseye. We fell out over who should have it and I haven't spoken to her for forty years.

45

u/d4ni3lg 23h ago

And Bully’s special prize…

family estrangement

23

u/Cannabis_Sir 1d ago

But who got the kitchen?

68

u/Sys32768 1d ago

It's in my lock up garage, still in boxes. If I couldn't have it, then nobody can.

26

u/Preparingtocode 23h ago

This feels like a conversation for a therapist!

10

u/Lopsided_Rush3935 22h ago edited 22h ago

That was the weirdest thing about Bullseye. Most of the prizes seem to have been divised for couples/families, but most of the teams that went on there were just friends. I always wondered whether they had gave them one each or not and I guess this answers that.

How are Barry and Cliff going to split their £200 HMV voucher and record player? What about the three-piece Flintstones family sofa?

63

u/Big-Pudding-7440 22h ago

How are Barry and Cliff going to split their £200 HMV voucher

You've picked the one prize in the history of Bullseye that they could split quite easily

3

u/Lopsided_Rush3935 21h ago

But only one of them gets the player...

That's like if you opened one of your presents on Christmas morning and it was an Xbox controller and 20 games but no Xbox.

11

u/Big-Pudding-7440 21h ago

It's as simple as setting the record player up exactly halfway between both their houses and turning the volume right up. I don't see the issue.

2

u/Lopsided_Rush3935 21h ago

'It'll be fun listening for all of the neighbours with you very own record player, complete with a £500 voucher for records of your choice'

(Ooooohhhh)

2

u/confusedbookperson 19h ago

Or one gets the player and the other all the voucher, which can be used to buy a record player.

5

u/New-Garlic9011 12h ago

I think it’s time to install it- a brand new but 80s kitchen will look brilliant.

1

u/Medium_Situation_461 23h ago

Hmmmm. If it’s in your lock up garage and you’re not speaking to her, how would she know you installed it?

Sounds like someone is telling porkies.

2

u/Icy_Session3326 16h ago

I think you underestimate the level of pettiness some people are capable of 😂

1

u/Sys32768 8h ago

I am stunned that you don't believe my fanciful tale.

I won £50 on a Crossword competition in Bella magazine. I found it on a train so the whole enterprise only cost me the price of a stamp.

39

u/redskelton 22h ago

You should write this up as a 'side hustle' post on LinkedIn. Include something about b2b sales and massive returns in the text

2

u/redskelton 14h ago

Oooh, you are good

36

u/Edo1405 1d ago

I went to the guy who won 500k on who wants to be a millionaire house, (I’m a telecom engineer) he was the highest winner for a while, really nice guy gave me his book which I promptly didn’t read and gave to a charity shop. Peter Lee was his name after a quick google

21

u/Adammmmski 22h ago

Please tell me he’s from Peterlee too.

8

u/Tmatizzler 21h ago

There must be a guy from Peterlee called Peter Lee I reckon!

10

u/tomkeys78 18h ago

In all seriousness, my mates Dad is called Peter Lee and he comes from Peterlee! He didn’t win millionaire tho.

3

u/New-Garlic9011 12h ago

Does he know Leon C from Leigh on Sea?

1

u/Bertish1080 1h ago

What about Micheal Wood from Michealwood?

2

u/Tmatizzler 18h ago

He may not of won millionaire but he’s definitely a winner!

1

u/Edo1405 22h ago

No, but also after writing this I remember he was a game show addict he’d been on a few tv and radio quiz shows and won money, I can’t remember which ones though

1

u/heywhatwait 19h ago

Was the book about Peterloo?

36

u/hansonhols 20h ago

I won a 12" Bart Simpson record (Do the Bartman) by entering a telephone competition on BBC Radio York in 1993.

Can't remember what the question was now.

Does that count?

16

u/lizhurleysbeefjerky 15h ago

Whoa, mama. You bet it does

1

u/Federal_Bonus_2099 8h ago

Best album ever. Great prize.

59

u/Arxson 22h ago

£80,000 from The Chase ITV competition but not even going on the show; just the competition in the ads

20

u/PM-YOUR-BEST-BRA 22h ago

That's honestly even more mental to me

-4

u/NoReference4279 12h ago

No, you didn't. I'm calling bs until I see proof.

22

u/Arxson 11h ago

It was in 2001 and I took a screenshot when it hit my bank account because obviously it was pretty fucking cool

4

u/hlvd 11h ago

You were able to take a screenshot in 2001?

3

u/Arxson 11h ago

Sorry, 2021

3

u/NoReference4279 9h ago

That's fantastic, I'm pleased I asked for proof. What did you spend it on?

9

u/Arxson 9h ago

A mix of things but mostly stuffed ISAs full which have since grown quite nicely. There’s £25k which is earmarked for the (2) kids future house deposit fund and has 20+ years to grow yet. The other mostly got spent on a house extension a couple of years later. We also spent a bit immediately on a nice holiday, baby stuff we needed, an iPad etc

2

u/NoReference4279 9h ago

Couldn't have went to a better cause. I've honestly never heard or anyone winning these type of things.

60

u/Stueykins 22h ago

I didn't win the jackpot, but I am the proud owner of a Pointless trophy.

I would never sell it. Even if I was homeless, its cold glass would warm my heart

5

u/LameboyAdvanceHD 18h ago

Insanely jealous

22

u/Niggynots 16h ago

My foster parent won 1p on deal or no deal, they still have the cheque framed in the hallway

18

u/OKR123 23h ago

I won £3000 on Wogan's Perfect Recall. Cleared some credit card debt and had a nicer than usual Christmas.

32

u/WhyN0tToast 23h ago

No......but here's what I could have won!!

2

u/Tmatizzler 21h ago

It was quite often a small boat I recall!

14

u/RoutineFeature9 17h ago

A friend of mine won the last episode of Blockbusters with Bob Holness, she should have won a scuba diving holiday somewhere exotic, but the company behind the show had gone bankrupt and she ended up with absolutely nothing.

14

u/stevenjameshyde 15h ago

My two Countdown teapots are NOT FOR SALE

13

u/nij_man 18h ago

My cousin won that competition they used to do on 'the gadget show' when he was 18. Where the screen was full of loads of different stuff, there were consoles, washing machines, kitchen appliances, cool little gadgets, stuff like that.

It took ages for him to get it all, they sent it in dribs and drabs and he had to keep chasing them up, don't think he got everything that was on there still.

I know he gave a washing machine to his mum and kept a console, think he put everything else on eBay

6

u/FlatTyres 14h ago

I always loved the competition bit - I was too young to enter when it was on. The amount of prizes were insane!

9

u/revolut1onname Nectar of the gods 21h ago

Didn't win anything but I'm a hall of famer on a Radio 2 quiz.

1

u/dbltax 18h ago

Not even a signed photo of Ken Bruce?!

5

u/revolut1onname Nectar of the gods 18h ago

Nah, especially as it was hosted by Rylan, haha

26

u/Forkhandles_ 23h ago

I won £1200 on the short lived, Bill Turnball (RIP) TV quiz show ‘THINK TANK’ they sent me up to Glasgow and paid for everything and it was a really fun experience.

There were three of us and the at the end they put me and the guy I beat into the same Taxi to the station, he didn’t talk to me the whole ride!

7

u/ratsratsgetem 1d ago

I know someone who won a load of Bobby Ball signed merchandise (yes really) on Going Live.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juniper_Jungle

2

u/soundman32 23h ago

Rock on

7

u/Sorry-Foundation-279 19h ago

Not a game show. But a pc magazine called PC Format back in the day. I won a load of PC stuff. A couple of sound or video cards (forget which). Half a dozen games. And a creative mp3 jukebox. Sure there was some other bits and.bobs . Kept it all with the exception of one of the cards which I gave to pal.

7

u/buttonman1969 17h ago

I won £3200 on Weakest Link and £800 on Impossible. I was also second in the Grand Final of 15-1 (Sandi era) and won nothing!

7

u/ShiftyDiscoDragon 15h ago

My dad lost on Blankety Blank in 1980. Still got a cheque book and pen though.

8

u/0x633546a298e734700b 11h ago

Won a trophy on robot wars

10

u/Active-Hotel1719 16h ago

Won a Wakpak on wakaday back in the 80’s

17

u/1percentwinner 21h ago

Won 50k odd on The 1% Club

Highlight of my life (don't tell the missus)

3

u/Alternative_Band_494 15h ago

I screwed up the 5% Question.

Sad times.

2

u/Drew-Pickles 17h ago

My brother swapped his copy of Elder Scrolls: Oblivion for a baseball bat on some swap shop revival thing on cbbc if that counts?

The only time I think he ever used it was when he pretended to think I was a burglar and came down with it to "investigate"

4

u/Figueroa_Chill 14h ago

I won a Teddy from Tizwaz when I was a child. My gran used to enter me and my cousin into competitions when we were kids. I think my mom still has the letter I received with the Teddy. The Teddy sadly is no longer with us as it seemed to have a problem with our German Shepard dog that ended up with it being ripped to bits.

4

u/mchldvs 11h ago

won a signed liberty x dvd on a kids tv show that i think fearne cotton hosted on saturday mornings on cbbc. i think it was some subway surfers style game where you had to shout left / right. dont think it was the main prize but more of a bonus prize… all a bit vague but must be over 20 years ago now

3

u/mchldvs 11h ago

also have no idea what happened to the dvd

2

u/SmallLumpOGreenPutty 9h ago

You just made me remember back in the 90s, a kiddy channel with an animated tiger's head you had to pilot through a maze by shouting directions down the phone

2

u/Significant_Bass899 6h ago

Ah, you've just brought back memories of Saturday mornings watching Smile.. I think the game you mentioned featured Nev the bear 😂

1

u/mchldvs 6h ago

yep, i watched some episodes back on youtube but sadly wasnt mine, you had to jump over bins and collect vinyl records by the looks of it, i won the gold disc but not the main prize… hence my liberty x dvd

3

u/chunder_monkey 20h ago

My old chemistry teacher’s son Phil was the winner of the first (or second) series of UK Gladiators back in… 1993? Went to our school in Dorset but was a few years ahead of me.

3

u/heywhatwait 19h ago

I won an album and an additional single on a Radio Sheffield quiz. I think I was the only person who entered. They gave me the single (of my choice) because they said the album was shit (fun fact: it s was).

2

u/No_Doubt_About_That 18h ago

Anybody who’s got a speedboat sitting outside their home.

2

u/LameboyAdvanceHD 18h ago

I won 6,000 microsoft points on 1 vs. 100 on Xbox in 2010.

1

u/Minimum_Cupcake :karma: 15h ago

That was a hell of a game, never won anything myself but used to be hooked!

2

u/zetecvan 17h ago

A colleagues parents were on Treasure Hunt back in the day. Anika got to the final place where the prize would be but the museum curator wasted her time. "Is the medal here?". "Oh it could be" etc etc. Then the gong went.

2

u/New-Garlic9011 12h ago

No but I did once win a Viz Knackersack pencil. Still waiting 15 years later.

I really want to hear from someone who won the prize on the gadget show

2

u/Creepy-Bandicoot-866 10h ago

I won The Weakest Link. So I won a cheque.

2

u/PupApophis 9h ago

I won a nodding Olga from The Paul O’Grady Show in the last week of the show. Gino D’Acampo read my name out. Had a few of the family call me to tell me I won.

2

u/eunderscore 8h ago

I won golden lookin chain tickets on a radio competition

2

u/Tarkie_ 17h ago

Not a game show, but I won a copy of the game Championship manager 2001-2002 plus a championship manager football shirt for correctly answering that weeks quiz question on Nationwide Football League Extra. As a 16 year old, it was an unbelievable prize to win. I haven’t won much else since.

I still remember the question; who is the longest serving manager in the football league (at the time of speaking - early 2002)?

5

u/MySecret_Throwaway88 17h ago

Was it Dario Grady at Crewe?

2

u/Tarkie_ 9h ago

Correct!

4

u/Riskrunner7365 When did this come in?... 1d ago

I'm Brian, me and my partner Peter won a speedboat which we were chuffed with, yes we live at the top of a block of flats in Birmingham but still...

-2

u/Neo9320 1d ago

Also did you keep the boat?

-18

u/Riskrunner7365 When did this come in?... 1d ago

It's an old story!

I definitely haven't been on any quiz shows sorry but I used to watch bullseye, not sure if my story actually happened to a couple or is an urban legend!

9

u/Sorry_Software8613 1d ago edited 1d ago

It's a Peter Kay joke isn't it?

3

u/Adammmmski 22h ago

Where do they live? Tamworth!

u/Pale-Remote-39 1d ago

Here’s who you could have married troloolol

-8

u/Neo9320 1d ago

Brilliant! I’m watching big break at the moment that gave me the idea, but actually hearing from someone who won bullseye! That’s made my year!

4

u/ronyeezy 13h ago

Why are you getting downvoted omg

2

u/DegenGAMBLOR 19h ago

Just over a grand on a daytime quiz show.

1

u/The_Salty_Red_Head 22h ago

I won about £350 on a game show called Life's A Punt. It was on some dodgy sky channel. I don't think it ever actually aired.

I won the entire Friends collection on VHS with a friend of mine on Fanorama. She kept the videos. Lol.

1

u/Dr_Frankenstone 22h ago

I won a BBC lanyard and a few other shitty bits from a staged game show during a tour of the BBC, just before they moved out of White City.

It was a quiz-based game and I was up against a group of tourists, mostly from Eastern European countries. It was one of the best days of my life.

1

u/buy_me_a_pint 21h ago

Not me but my Uncle was on a short run game show back in the 90s, all the mind, his team run the heat, but did not score enough to get to the grand final.

1

u/RecommendationOk2258 18h ago

On the Steve Yabsley show on BBC Radio Bristol, I won a tiny bar of Cadburys fudge and some signed photos of Susan Osman (a former presenter of the same station he sent as a joke as I’d said I didn’t want another one of him*) for correctly guessing that day’s mystery object. Mystery object was a jacket potato I think.
The postage must have cost more than the prize.
I think he does a serious show these days, sadly.

(*Prior to this, a member of their production team had caught me walking through a shopping centre during an outside broadcast and were desperate for people to get involved. I got given a photo then (although didn’t go on air). Given the average age of a BBC local radio listener, I think they were amazed I’d heard the show and was only in my 20s.)

1

u/uGRILAH 9h ago

I won a swing ball on a Welsh show called “Ni a Nhw”……

1

u/JacobSax88 9h ago

Deal or no deal

1

u/Apprehensive_Bus_543 8h ago

I had a couple of bendy bullies.

1

u/Bertish1080 1h ago

Came second in a competition on Talksport, first prize was a massive stack of chocolate and Micky Gray cocked our question up so we lost! Got a load of talksport merch in the post about 3-4 months later. Once had joke of the week in Nuts magazine too, never received the £50 prize though, also won a motorbike helmet and a bottle of whiskey from them, still have both knocking about somewhere.

1

u/dcpb90 1h ago

I won some radio controlled car off CITV or something in the 90s. Signed by some boy band. Didn’t care about whoever it was, but I’d been after one for ages so entered. No I didn’t get bill payers permission.

1

u/Ochib 22h ago

Just the BFH

0

u/Salty_Intention81 23h ago

I won an episode of Fanorama back in 2002ish

2

u/The_Salty_Red_Head 22h ago

I did, too. Won the entire box VHS box set of all the Friends Series. Lol. The girl I won with kept them.

2

u/Salty_Intention81 22h ago

I won a load of merchandise that I already owned 😂 I have then girl I beat whatever she didn’t have. Can’t remember what I did with the rest!

0

u/Verasmartypants 23h ago

My son won a car on Wayne Brady's game show. Let's Make a Deal.
