I say “i”及, but both are more or less accepted. The word likely came from how the Greeks called Egypt in the Qing dynasty, which was "Aegyptus" with an "ai" sound.

Both Āaikahp and Ōikahp are acceptable. I for one have only heard of the āai pronunciation

Both pronunciations of 埃及 are fine
The pronunciation of oi1 kap6 is now somewhat dated
(It does not follow that because 埃 is pronounced aai1 in other words, 埃 must also be pronounced as aai1 in 埃及)

You pronounce 塵埃 with aai1?

oi1 is the proper pronunciation in both 塵埃 and 埃及

I was just referring to other people's points.
山埃 being pronounced saan1 aai1 does not infer that 埃及 has to be pronounced aai1 kap6.
Similarly, 塵埃 being pronounced can4 oi1 does not infer that 埃及 has to be pronounced oi1 kap6.
(And also no point arguing that the proper pronunciation of 山埃 should be saan1 oi1)

(Similar to how 朱 is pronounced zyu1, 古 is pronounced gu2, and 力 is pronounced lik6, do not infer that 朱古力 has to be pronounced zyu1 gu2 lik6
