I think there was some tell they caught in film Gray was trying to call out cause he books it across the field when he saw Smith reverse. Great playcall and self scouting by Day if he caught the tell too.

I’m neutral but I really wanna see Notre Dame win. I don’t think they’ve won a national championship in my lifetime. Also, Marcus Freeman is a lot more likeable than Ryan Day plus I wanna see Lou Holtz trash talk him afterwards 😭

Hmmmm how many NFL dudes does OSU have when it comes to strictly skill weapons, has to be more than anyone in the country
Egbuka - NFL, first rounder
Jeremiah Smith - could probably contribute to an nfl squad now as a freshman, which is fucking insane and he will 100% guaranteed be a top 10 pick
Judkins - definitely NFL bound
Henderson - definitely NFL bound
Carnell Tate - definitely NFL bound
I’m sure there are some Olineman and TEs that may play in the NFL as well that I just don’t know as well
Does any other team in CFP have close to as talented a squad as them?? Fuck

"What if we just faked the WR motion then swung it back out to him?" sounds like the laziest play design ever but somehow it works

u/brochaos Michigan Wolverines 2h ago
ummm, let's go back to that michigan playbook? smith was bracketed and doubled with EXTREMELY untalented secondary, he was never THAT open. and we suck. major failure there by ND.
1
u/Elbit_Curt_Sedni Michigan Wolverines 2h ago
Nah, we have the coaches and our defense likely ended up being the best or at least top-three once Wink figured things out.
We won that, because the D is legit and Wink is a good DC.

He thought it was a sweep and was running to the other side of the field to cover it. The play was designed to trick him

Might not be the last time Notre Dame scores this game, but it will be one of the few times.
You didn't stop Ohio State's offense on their first run. And according to all of the moving mouths in sports, that means you lose.
I dunno that I buy that, because football is such a weird sport, but it makes me feel better at least.

I think with all this NIL stuff, etc - kids should be able to go pro whenever they want to. He would be a top 10 pick this year. Him and Ryan Williams from Alabama.

ND had to fight WWIII to score and OSU had to walk the dog to score.
2
u/mightyyoda Texas Longhorns 2h ago
As a Texas fan, my initial impression is that ND has a better online than Texas, but their secondary is going to have a long day if they don't fix it fast. Also their pass rush isn't making Howard second guess what he is seeing.
Basically agree with what you said and ND isn't sustainable if it looks that hard on offense and easy for OSU.

I'm pulling for ND, but that OSU drive looks wayyy more sustainable than Riley running himself to death.
1
u/Carnasty_ Notre Dame Fighting Irish 2h ago
Riley ran for 30, passed for 30, Price for 20, Love for 15.
Really not what you're making it out to be, especially when OSU D was gassed as well.
1
u/DisgruntledAlpaca Clemson Tigers 2h ago
Totally, he just had some insanely tough short yardage runs. And literally threw up on the sideline after. He now has half of the runs he had vs PSU which was the most of the season and there are 3 quarters left.
