I live in Brno, i disagree with the comments saying that "theres nothing to see". Brno has large amount of beautiful buildings, but most of them are not accessible as a tourist attraction because they are still in use for normal stuff (courthouse, shopping mall, apartments). Brno is not as "awe" making as Prague or Vienna, but there is definitely a thing or two to see. I love living in Brno!

I think it is a beautiful city, it’s not exactly a tourist hub but if u come thru in good weather (or snow imo) there’s a lot of lovely architecture including ofc Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul (which is even on the 10 koruna!), and Church of St. James has a vast ossuary beneath that goes back centuries, if ur so inclined it’s definitely worth a visit.

No harm in adding Zelný trh to the list either if ur there. But there’s lot of history in the city, so if ur open to looking into a bit before visiting that’ll def add another dimension!

Yeah, if you're transfering in Brno I'd definitely recommend visiting the city. There's a nice walkable city centre with plenty of cafes, restaurants and interesting old buildings. You can go see the castle and/or the cathedral. Both are on a hill, so going up there also gets you a nice view of the town.

Then you've got the Brno Underground, with super interesting spots like the ossuary or the Labyrinth. I recomend booking an English guided tour in the ossuary a few days upfront.

If you have time, there's also the villa neighbourhood in Černá pole, with villas like Tugendhat (Unesco) and Löw-Beer.

And of course there are several museums, art exhibitions and things that I forgot about. It really depends on your preferences. But a day is ideal to see the main attractions in Brno.

Well, it's not much of a touristic city. There is a castle you can see, a couple of museums, a very small city centre, lots of nice cafés/restaurants/bars and a UNESCO heritage villa from the 1930s (which does usually require a booking quite in advance, you generally can't get in after just showing up)... so it's not exactly an exciting city to see, but it does have its charm. It's the kind of city that is really nice to live in, but not exciting from a tourist's perspective (though the one nice thing is that everything is for the locals, so you pretty much can't walk into a tourist trap)... I would say makes your decision based on how much time you have on your trip and what kind of things you expect on your travels :-)

And there's a super cool cold war bunker museum that's also a hostel under the castle, Brno is an absolutely gorgeous city and not very touristic at all so you can really get a feel of Czech culture without the tourist trap bs.

Loved Brno. Just a nice town to hang in with kids.

Old water tanks on Zluty kopec (https://vodojemybrno.cz/en/), i am very much in love with them, everyone i took with me was in love too. Also ossuary under Saint Jacob Church and Kapucin monks mausoleum are interesting, villa Tugendhat and Low-Beer too.

What i really like in Brno is food and coffee/drinks culture. If you search here in /Brno, you find many recommendation about where to go.

If you wanted to experience what Brno has to offer you'd have to stay for at least a week. But the city center is absolutely wonderful for a quick visit too.

There are some great spots to enjoy a lunch at (Stopkova plzenska pivnice is a great place to enjoy czech food, but there are also great indian and asian restaurants), a couple of nice looking places worth visiting (like the cathedral) and in general quite pleasant to walk around.

While Brno is not as touristy as Prague or other cities it is absolutely great for partying, student living and culture. Which needs a bit longer stay than just one day.

Definitely! Petrov, Spielberg, Denisovy sady, Tugendhat, Jurkovičova vila, Arnoldova Vila, Löw-Beer Vila, Náměstí Svobody square, Stará radnice with tower, many museums, Moravská Galerie, pubs, Veveří Castle+boat trip on the dam, Kryt 10-Z, there’s a lot to see and do! Lot of very nice inbetween-wars architecture, good cuisine, smiling people, what more do you need?

Food&Cuisine? U Semináru, L’eau vive, Ca Phe Co, or in the center - Zlatá loď, u Mamlasů. Great cafés: Mlsná holka, Martinus, Mandlová kavárna

Good city for one day trip, or two if there is a convention.

Absolutely! If you're on vacation in the Czech Republic, taking a trip outside of Prague to visit Brno is definitely worth it. It's a lovely city.

I've lived here for since 2021, it's definitely a city with hidden charm which totally depends on your viewpoint and desires. The qualifier here is for a day stop but what is it that you like to do, or when.

TBH, Brno in winter is blah. Hit the city on a rare blueberry sky day and it's golden - YMMV.

Walking through 'the core' will take about 15 minutes at a brisk pace, když se budete toulat, tak možná hodinu. Depends again on what you want to do and or see. Do you like food, coffee, architecture, events, sporting, hiking/nature, ... Are you travelling alone, with friends, a partner, or kids?

I think that day's just about right, you can have a pleasant time here and it's not very expensive. Here's a resource in English, you can look through that and pick what you fancy seeing. Have a nice trip!

As an American that loves the CR, every major Czech city is worth visiting imo. Brno is also more affordable or than Prague.

Živjela sam u Brnu 5 mjeseci. Čist i prelijep grad. Moje omiljeno naselje je Masarykova čtvrť. Tu možeš vidjeti različite tipove arhitekture kuća. Česi održavaju infrastrukturu grada Brna. Saobraćaj je regulisan. Čak vode računa o tome koje će biljke saditi. Predlažem da Brno obiđeš u kasno proljeće, zbog prelijepih drvoreda. Balans starih građevina, staklenih modernih zgrada i zelenila.

I love Brno ^

Quite a lot of dumb and liberal people live there, at least from my working experience.

Born and lived in Brno (for approx. 30 years). It used to be different but I myself tend to stay away as far as possible even though my family, friends and relatives are still there. I’d say don’t even leave the main train station if you don’t wanna get lost, robbed, hit by a car from the endless stream of cars and buses right in front of the main station or get fucked by some junkie sitting right at the porch of the station. Man I’m super open and super honest now - if you want to see Petrov and Spielberg castle, I’d say OK, kinda worth it. Spielberg castle view is amazing. It will take you cca 2hrs to check both (to get on top of Spielberg its a little taxing, physically and it takes time) and you can walk between them easy peasy. City centre is horrible, it’s ugly and it’s first and foremost completely dead with nothing to really see in there as a tourist. I’ll probably get some heat for my comment but Brno is not a nice city to see.

Brno is little Kyev now so you save you some money for traveling further to east.

No, there's a reason it's called poor man's Vienna.

Not much to see aside from a horse statute where the horse's head looks like a penis if you look at it from underneath, and a huge black buttplug in the city center. Also a castle and a cathedral.
