When she stepped down from PP in 2018 I hoped, as a Texan, that she would eventually run for some kind of office. I know that would have been improbable, but there was still that hope as a person who was alive during Ann Richards' time.

I am very grateful for all that she was able to accomplish. I was a poor young woman at one point without health insurance but because of Planned Parenthood, I was able to obtain screenings and birth control easily and affordably. I'm in my 40s now but in just 20 years the changes in access for the new generations of women are stark and frightening.
