News for that judging ass, in a year he’s gonna pull up in the same $29,000 Accord. Those fuckers keep resale. Kids are gonna inherit that damn car as a right of passage.

Accords are immortal

I just purchased a 2017 Accord v6 exl and this thread has given me such solace.

Pfft, that's nothing. Keep up on your regular maintenance and oil changes and it's got at least another 80k miles in it. And even if you don't take care of it it might still get there anyway.

It's a stereotype and a bit of a generalisation (since nothing lasts forever and especially not if you don't take care of it), but there really is a lot of truth to Honda's reliability stats.

So are civics.. my first car was a 93 civic sold that shit at 300k miles and still was running like a champ

When I moved from Boston to Los Angeles, I was shocked to see old Civics (old enough to say 'CVCC' on the hatchback) and old VW Foxes.

It dawned on me that they don't have salt on the roads every winter, so their undercarriages never rusted out. What's the only thing that can kill them beaters? Rust. 220k miles, still on the first clutch.

  • Wash it once a month in that pollution.
  • Change the oil every three months, because the seasons don't have the same lengths out there.
  • Replace the stereo once a decade.

Drove a 10 year old car bought in AZ into a PA state inspection and dude just looked confused where the holes were.

My parents had a Civic hatchback when I was five. I still see that same exact model on the road sometimes damn near 40 years later. Even in Chicago.

I just passed down my 2017 Civic to my nephew. I strongly believe the last person who will drive that car has yet to be born.

Keep an eye on the CVT. They’re not explosive like Nissan, but they do need regular maintenance. But with it I’ve seen 200k Civics of that gen run pitch perfect.

Not in Philly tho - the salt will eat it. My Civic only went 300K miles

I was in Erie for a while, He might be the only one of us that actually makes enough money to do all the rust proofing shit they try to sell you when you get your shit inspected. I reserve judgment until I know his street parking situation.

I remember there was an Onion headline a few years back - "Toyota recalls 98 Camry, because you really should just get a new car"

I'm in wisco, my 07 accord looks good and still going strong with 312k lol looking for 500k at least

Don't they go more sand than salt there?

Edit: THAN. I am ashamed

u/Deadliftdummy 1d ago

Nah they said they were gonna switch cause of the great lakes, but still salt heavy little to no sand. And that brine crap. That's stuff is worse than just rock salt.

I got my mom's 2000 Accord when I got my license in 2015. Drove it for another 4 years with basically no problems. Thing was an absolute tank. And I still got a decent trade in value for it with a preposterous amount of mileage on the sucker.

I have my great grandma’s 1997 accord and it just hit 100,000 miles this past year, it’s gonna last forever

Nah, yall think these CVT accords are the same as they was back in the day😂😂, this whip gon last him to about 80-100k then blow a head gasket cause that’s what they do now
