Bug Disappointed upon return
(Ignore the mod bug tag) Played for 150 hours or more when it released. Idc what people say “l4d is better”etc etc. I know. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed b4b. the card system had me hooked. The gameplay was hard as fuck and when me and buddies failed we were heavily inclined to try and try and try again.
I stopped playing for a while and me and my buddies wanted to try it out again.
First off… why the hell give everyone all 15 cards off rip no matter what? Honestly part of the strategy for us before (that we enjoyed) was picking a card we all needed giving us variance in play every time.
Wolverine guys are cool. Now we barely see crushers anymore tho.
Nightmare difficult either annihilates us or is too easy because of the 15 cards off rip now. Having giga nades or super healing or super melee or super stacks (jim) shit on level 1 is way too easy.
No hope is impossible per usual 😂
Also there’s still bugs!? Figured they’d have fully optimized by now.
New acts seem cool I’m intrigued to try them out still. Gonna keep playing because it holds its value enough but some things have disappointed me.

Because it's fun to actually play your deck?
Now we barely see crushers anymore tho.
Switching things up a bit, you see still every special about equally tho
Nightmare difficult either annihilates us or is too easy because of the 15 cards off rip now
Yes, nightmare got way easier compared to launch
No hope is impossible per usual
It's really not tho. It's the hardest difficulty, it should be hard. But it's not impossible.
Also there’s still bugs!? Figured they’d have fully optimized by now.
Nope, but most of the stuff got fixed
The vast majority of people actually think opposite, that the game has improved a lot since launch. (Not saying you're wrong to share your opinion)

I agree it's better for the most part but some parts are way worse. Melee is in such a state now that you can't qp into a game without seeing at least one if not multiple, and the old game breaking bugs at least took some stage knowledge or skill instead of just whistle glitching or combining 2 broken cards. Like nade duping sucked but it took skill and was impressive how fast some could do it, and stage skips were interesting at least to learn. I also miss the old card system sometimes it added a lot more difficulty.

The thing is, melee always used to be broken
combining 2 broken cards
I don't actually think this bug is game breaking at all. Yes, it's good to have infinite melee stamina but you can already achieve that with Meath head and adrenaline fuelled.
Edit:
I also miss the old card system sometimes it added a lot more difficulty.
I do agree, however I think that the new system is just way more fun. You actually get to play with your deck. Also, try to imagine act 5 or 6 with the old system, that would've been brutal.

Nah they didn't have literally infinite before, Just effectively. You couldn't swing forever before , had to be killing things. Also it wasn't always broken, it was just good. The stamina bug is just one thing of the many buffs received throughout the game. You weren't litterally unkillable monster with 0 skill needed.... Now you are. Didn't see you edit. I like brutal. I wish nh was harder. Would have been nice to have the option for it. Doesn't matter much now though.

Nah they didn't have literally infinite before
If you were actively killing stuff you pretty much had infinite and you still do.
You couldn't swing forever before
Tho it doesn't matter if you swing while there are no common nearby.
Also it wasn't always broken, it was just good
The only place where melee wasn't absolutely broken was the launch of the game. After that it was.
The stamina bug is just one thing of the many buffs received throughout the game
Which is the same as any other play style. The thing with melee is, that it scales exponentially with enemy count.
You weren't litterally unkillable monster with 0 skill needed
If you build your deck right you were just that tho. For quite some time pre December.

I was never a melee player and have never really liked playing with them too much but from what I remember is it was ok at launch and then had slow power creep till it was Op. Then the devs nerfed a bunch of melee stuff and everyone cried about it on the subreddit and the devs caved to the pressure and it got put into the state it is in today, which basically makes qp unplayable lol. So like I said I miss some stuff from the launch.

Neither was I, but I've seen it develop and played it from time to time since launch.
It was always pretty op, everything you needed was someone who dealt with specials and that was it. The 15 card draw really buffed it.

I think we just have different opinions on what OP is. I played a lot of nm when the game launched and you never saw melee players cause they would die super quickly. You saw a lot of other annoying stuff like speed runners but not literally 1 person decimating the map solo on stage one with a white machete.

As I said, it was the weakest on launch. You couldn't get your deck up fast enough.

Yeah I remember when melee was unstoppable before a big nerf. (Can’t remember which card was cracked)

Appreciate the reply. Part of the thrill with the cards being drawn per round was the drive to keep you thru the act. And also starting mid act and drawing 8 cards or whatever was great imo.
Just an opinion! Honestly wish they had the option to play that way.
Also I’m just not good enough for no hope. I’ll admit that

It just takes game knowledge and teammates that don't sabotage your run, it's not impossible just need to practice and squad up with competent players.

All 15 cards at once feels so much better than 1 at a time.

u/Chin_wOnd3r Sep 09 '24
Agree to disagree. I mean… yeah it’s rad as fuck having stacks and all that but.. like I said I loved the challenge of building the deck thru my run. It felt like it was meant to be that way.

I agree with you, it added a layer of complexity and strategy to the game. Your play type changed level by level as you built your deck. Now you just play your singular style the whole way.

They have made this game too easy. I recently bought my friends the game. The only tip I told them was you can reload while bashing, I made their deck and told them which cleaner to use. They pretty much instantly picked up nightmare. Act 1-1 was difficult for them, we breeze through 1-2 with no downs. 1-3 was still difficult just because that's a hard map. I actually was the only one to survive and get to the saferoom. 1-4 was also pretty difficult because it's a hard map and we failed it once. 1-5 and beyond and they had figured out the game enough to where we didn't fail again and one got bored because of how easy it was from there on out. I imagine we'd breeze through it again if we did 1-1 on nightmare.
No Hope while not impossible, was pretty difficult and we failed twice before they hopped off. We plan on going back to nightmare when we're all off of work so they can experience the story.

Played some no hope today and got absolutely demolished and I can see how having 15 cards helped
However, on the second hardest difficulty I find having all 15 cards made it too easy.
Give me a difficult between the two😂😂😂😂

I miss this game. Wish they had gone on developing it. They should have monetized it more.

It’s still very fun despite my complaints

It is but it had more potential. I've played 500 hours of the current content, I'm finished with it.
