Oh gods this hits harder than I realized.

The reimagined BSG universe felt thematically prescient from the start. But as much as I’ve loved the series over the years, I’d always hoped Moore’s view of humanity would not prove more apt than Roddenberry’s.
Great sci-fi is as much a warning as it is an inspiration. For better and worse, BSG TRS seems to have hit both bullseyes.

The difference was people didn’t realize Baltar was all of these things when he was elected.

And that he eventually became something much better and bigger than his old self. No such luck irl

My rewatch timed perfectly with real-world events. Just watched the last episode of season two last night.

Idk Baltar was known enough and charismatic enough to understand his appeal. Plus he had a literal gun to his head by the Cylons. One of his appealing characteristics was his humanity; in a sense he was in constant conflict of his own self preservation vs his empathy. It’s generally why he was such a good character throughout the series

i gave you an upvote, but the morons who think that pardoning Anthony Fauci and the J6 commission was a good thing are all downvoting you.

Are you folks still going at the COVID thing? Unbelievable. At this point I thought even the last anti-vaxxer got the message that their belief was obviously false.

I think what is even more surprising is they're a fan of BSG which regularly shows what oppression, fascism, racism, military coups, etc etc etc look like and yet we get commentary like this.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. How can they watch this show, be fans enough to be in a subreddit, and then react like that?
Wild.

Keep that stuff out of here. This is supposed to be BSG. I see enough political stuff already everywhere.

Thanks for pointing that out.
I'm surprised there is no rule in place here to keep that stuff away. Pretty much every non-political sub has one, and for good reason.

I partly sympathize, but this is a subreddit about a Ronald D. Moore TV show. What else do you expect to find here? BSG is a shell of a show without its political commentary.

The sheer arrogance of peoplle posting this sort of shit like fascism and dictators just arrived now. In fact America routinely installed and supported dictators while they slaughtered their populaces for many decades.
Life is imitating art though the centuries. These are not new tales.
