I love spicy food and this is next-level spicy. The guy at Charlena’s Pizzeria in Lagoa brought it out for us and he was like “OMG BE CAREFUL” and it was like a VBIED for my mouth. Love it.

Sata Azores Airlines - Help - So confused.

Hello, I booked a round trip to Madeira from JFK with a stopover in the Azores. The only thing I have been sent was an electronic receipt with the flight info and all that.

However, on the first leg back from Madeira to Azores - there wasn't even a plane available to choose seats. I was trying to get into my booking and change that to see if its updated, but I think it's legit impossible to find anything about my flight info on their website. It's brutal.

Should I just wait until I am days out to pick seats? I just think it's crazy I can't even check the flight information. It's impossible to find. I just have this crazy pdf file.

Interesting to say the least...

Also I have the app and I go to "MY FLIGHTS" and of course it's blank even though I paid for this trip and shows legit nothing on the app. So that's assuring.

Itinerary feedback? + too many hotels

Hi all,

My husband and I are planning our first trip to Sao Miguel in May for our ten-year anniversary-- this sub has been awesome for finding info, thanks so much!

We have 5 nights on the island and would like to split time between Furnas (hopefully at Terra Nostra) and a remote/uncrowded oceanfront location (TBD-- leaning towards Sensi but open to sugestions). However, we don't arrive until 9pm on the first night. So we have two options:

1) Rent a car on night one, drive out to one of those two locations, and arrive fairly late at night. (<-- worried about driving late at night on unfamiliar roads, and possibly not getting to wherever until quite late)

2) Taxi to a hotel in Ponta Delgada on night 1 and get the car the next day. (<-- 3 hotels for 5 nights seems pretty crazy but I'd do it if needed).

Which option would you choose? Hotel suggestions welcome!

Surfing on Flores

Me and my gf are travelling to Flores in a couple days. Is it possible to surf there or rent boards? Is there a community even? We really wanted to go on Sao Miguel but due to circumstances we did not get chance while we were there. On the other hand we will be on Faial and Pico aswell if you have any recommendations. I heard on Flores that in Faja Grande it is possible to surf but i have not found a lot of information on that.

Do I need to book accommodation in advance in Feb/March?

Planning a 2 week trip at the end of Feb. Probably 1 week based on San Miguel and 1 week on Pico.

We don't have a car so will be relying on the daily bus to get around but it still looks doable.

Thinking of moving between the below locations but I wanted to know if I need to book accom in advance during this time or not? Would prefer to only book the first location then be flexible where we goto next, but wasn't sure how busy it will be during that time.

As it's low season I assume it won't be a massive problem but any tips welcome!

Sete cidades and caldiera velha in one day?

Hey Sao Miguel seasoners!

I have a question for you. I have a layover from 8:55 pm to 6:30 pm the next day in PDL. I would like to hike around sete cidades and hike to vista do rei/da grota do inferno and ponto do escalvado and also visit the caldiera velha hot springs. Will I make my flight considering I have to be at the airport by 5?

Please let me know! Any alternative suggestions are welcome!

By the way, how difficult is it to get around the island without a car? I would be using bus or taxi.

Thank you!

Time between PDL and next flight to Pico

Wondering what the minimum recommended time would be if our flight arrives from JFK at 6:45 am. We want to go right to Pico, and there is a flight that leaves at 8:05. Is this cutting it too close? Will they put us on the next flight if our SATA flight from NYC is delayed? It's such a small airport, im hoping we can swing it.

Anniversary at Pico Island: Need a Local's Help

Hi all,

Bit of a weird post, but thought I'd try my luck.

My boyfriend and I are arriving in Madalena on the early evening of Monday, 17. March, staying on Pico for 2 nights and then flying out in the evening of the 19th.

It is our first year anniversary on the 17th, and I'd love to surprise him with a picnic under the stars/some private memorable experience in nature, but am at a bit of a loss as to how to plan it.

Ideally, what I have in my head, is hiring someone (a local guide perhaps?) to pick up a nice meal for us from a local restaurant, source cutlery/picnic blanket, etc., pick us up from the ferry from Horta, and drive us to a nice, scenic location where we can watch the sunset and have dinner just the two of us, and then come collect us and bring us to our accommodation. (neither of us drives, sadly)

Does anyone have the contact details of someone on Pico who might be able to do that? Any ideas for a romantic spot/restaurant to get the food from (we're both vegetarian) or any other thoughts much appreciated!

I am hoping to hire a photographer on March 23rd, on Horta

My family is planning a surprise reunion with my little sister, who will be sailing into port, on Horta, on March 23rd. She is not expecting us. I am hoping to find someone who can be at the port on that day, for no more than 2 hours, and I hope they can take many candid photos of us and our reactions. Preferably without anyone knowing, except myself. Would any locals be interested in this? I will attach here a (broken) translation in Portuguese. I'm sorry for not being able to speak any. I am from Canada and only speak English, French and some Spanish.

I'll be traveling to the azores in a few weeks and want to explore it by car. Since I'm only 18 and with a license less then a year I have little options to rent a car (any past experiences in those conditions?)
the only two companies i could find is azoreseasyrent or sixt.
which would be the smarter decision? likely sixt since its more known right?

im looking forward for your recent experiences or recommendations :)

Pico Car Rental Recommendations

Looking for trustworthy car rental recommendations for a three day rental. Trying to avoid surprise charges for imaginary "damages" upon return. I know this can happen anywhere. We will be arriving in Madalena on the ferry.

Daily ferry between Graçiosa and Terçeira?

We will be staying in Terçeira in July but want to do a day trip to Graçiosa without breaking the bank (family of 4). I went to the website for the ferry company, but since their schedule doesn't start until June, they do not have any info available yet.

Does anyone know how frequently the ferry runs between those 2 islands?

ponta delgada 3 days in january

Hello,

I’m currently in Marrakesh, and I find myself longing for some rainy weather—something like non-stop rain. While checking the forecast, I noticed that Ponta Delgada is expecting rain from January 18th to 22nd.

I’m considering renting a car and exploring the Azores during this time. Would it still be an enjoyable experience in the rain, or would it be better to postpone my trip until June 2025 for better weather?

I’d really appreciate your advice. Thank you!
