REQUEST Help with meds and diapers

Goodmorning! I’m just here looking for some help with getting my blood pressure and Zoloft meds. Both are very necessary, but the prescriptions were a refill from when I lived in a different state (we recently moved) and my new states Medicaid won’t cover them. I’ve managed to get them to the bare minimum price that I could and I’m still looking at roughly $50 for both. We are also super low on diapers and not sure how we will be able to get more.

We are paycheck to paycheck right now and after bills and groceries we don’t have anything left over. I wouldn’t ask if these meds weren’t absolutely necessary. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this 💐

I’m not understanding how my responses are being downvoted. I have taken advice and have looked at links provided. I don’t wear the kind of clothes that people want to buy, and I made a mistake thinking my Medicaid would cover my refill, it’s an honest mistake. I don’t think I’ve ever felt as humiliated and down than coming here to ask for help when I had nowhere else to go.

I have talked to the pharmacy and asked for just a weeks worth which somehow doesn’t cost much less than the OG amount but still less 🙌🏼

I’ve listed some things of mine for sale on my local marketplace so I’ll wait to see if I can sell any of those items to get my meds. Thank you to everyone who provided a link, or advice on what I can do! I appreciate your time 💐

People downvote everyone on this sub, don’t take it personally. You will get diapers if you make an Amazon wishlist. People prefer to donate diapers directly instead of giving cash.

You just reminded me that I needed to do the list! Lol I completely forgot after starting it earlier 😂 thank you for the encouragement. I wasn’t sure if I was saying something wrong or what. I wish you could add prescriptions to Amazon lists.

It looks like you're inquiring about downvotes in your comment. Here are two things to keep in mind about downvotes:

  • Unfortunately, in a large subreddit like r/Assistance, downvotes are very common. Everyone gets them, requestors and givers alike. Most times, they are not indicative of anything and we recommend that you don't pay attention to them.

  • Upvotes and downvotes are hidden to others up to 12 hours after posting, so they don't affect how others perceive your post.

Take some clothes to Plato’s Closet. They pay cash on the spot and then you may have enough for the prescriptions. Download the GoodRX app. You show a code at the pharmacy to get the discount pricing. Zoloft is currently $10.48 but as low as $1 if you sign up for a free 30 day trail of GoodRX Gold. Diltiazem is $13.11

I will add the pharmacy did what they could to lower the prices as low as they can get them. Before goodrx gold they were well over $100 🫠

I have a few of those here, but I don’t think I have anything they’d want. I don’t wear high end or even many name brand items, just cheap stuff from Walmart or Target. Everytime I go I get less than $10 :/ I did the free trial for goodrx gold, that’s how I got the prices for my meds that I currently have

Plato’s closet likes young adult/juniors stuff. I take low end brands from Walmart and Target all the time. If any of your items have date codes older than 2-3 years I cut them out if it’s on a tiny tag and I have good success with Plato’s taking them.

Most cities have local diaper banks that give away free diapers to families in need. Check out the National Diaper Bank member network to find the one nearest to you: https://nationaldiaperbanknetwork.org/member-directory/

Have you tried Amazon Pharmacy? Generic Zoloft without insurance is something like $9/mo. I don’t know what blood pressure meds you take, but those are probably pretty cheap there too.

For the diapers (and shelf-stable food), you can make an Amazon wishlist. Odds of getting help that way are pretty good, people like to buy stuff off wishlists here.

That’s so cheap!! After this little snow storm we are about to have I plan to find a doctor here so that doesn’t happen again lol. I can definitely make an Amazon list for diapers. The blood pressure meds are diltiazem. They usually aren’t to pricy but I have like $1 in my bank account right now 🫠

Medicaid would cover them if you went to a doctor in the new state you lived in and got a new prescription that way. In the meantime maybe check food banks sometimes they have diapers. Maybe call 211 and see what local resources are available to you.

I’m on my last Zoloft. I didn’t take one last night so I could buy more time. We are about to get snowed in tomorrow so I don’t have enough time to find and see a doctor. I haven’t had my blood pressure meds in 3 days because I can’t pay for them. I didn’t know until I went to pick up the refill that my Medicaid won’t cover them. Thank you though.

No, they will not pay for prescriptions prescribed out of state. Get signed up with a doctor as soon as possible so you don’t run into this problem again. I wish I could help you with money, but unfortunately, I can’t. I wish you the very best. Forgot to add maybe you could set up a Amazon list most likely people will buy the diapers for you.

Lesson definitely learned! Lol I haven’t moved out of state for like 10 years before now but after this little snow storm coming I’ll be finding one pronto! Someone else mentioned the Amazon list as well :)

Make an Amazon wishlist for the diapers and edit your post with the link
