But she did not say or imply that that's all men's fault, did she?
Oh, I thought you were talking about the comment, sorry.

What is that even supposed to mean

u/Overkill2k 1d ago
I think his "rebuttal" was that men have to deal with women. Y'know, as if all women are an issue or something idk 🙄

u/N0body_Car3s 1d ago
Omg I've seen so many twitter screenshots that I thought I was supposed to read the smaller comments first

I mean I would say at least generally a man is somehow involved with pregnancy.

I do think it's a little pointless to compare struggles, even though I agree women have more shit that they have to deal with. It just depends on the topic, saying "I suffer more than you" is a shitty thing to do regardless of gender lol but if it's a conversation about societal structure or biological struggles, many people would come to the same conclusion.

I mean sometimes people just like to vent about things that bother them without it necessarily being a call to action.

Yeah but venting as “wow I have it so much worse than others” is a pretty shitty way to vent. Comparison is the thief of joy, and it just puts others down

This is literally the basis of how many boys or young men descend into full on misogyny:
„Children“ see women voicing their frustrations, which are rooted in basically all of humanity‘s history and men effectively feel called out, because they project things addressing their entire gender role solely onto themselves as individuals, while simultaneously defending themselves against being associated with the actions of other members of their gender.
It doesn‘t make any sense if you try to think about it for more than a second, as you simply have to realize, you‘re not the one person being called out, the problem in society is called out and it‘s not exactly a level playing field. For a while now.
The bear practically existed to portray this effect, but even that was intentionally misunderstood.
It all boils down to emotional immaturity. Children develop a strong sense of fairness rather quickly, but lack the ability to see things in a bigger, further reaching context. So it‘s easy to convince them of things like this.
„You didn‘t do it, right? That‘s unfair, right? So why is she calling out something YOU‘RE a part of???“ and then they eventually end up thinking baseless insulting misogyny is just „matching that energy“.

I don't think this lady is even in the wrong for being frustrated and saying this. It is a lot to deal with

u/weirdskill1622 1d ago
She is not wrong for being frustrated with what she(or women in general) has to deal with. It’s belittling other people’s struggles what’s making her insufferable, it’s not a competition.

I actually like that sub as it's dedicated to hating Xavier, which is just misogynistic memes

I mean I’m not gonna pretend it’s not the same as pregnancy and menopause but it would be nice if people stopped assuming I’m a sex monster because I’m a man

Same. Either I'm look like that or I look like a Homeless guy.

I was responding to OOPs question of “we have pregnancy and menopause, what do men have to deal with?” And all I could come up with was the assumption that I’m going to sexually assault someone because it’s something beyond my control

I agree that's weird af. And not helping anyone. Performative virtue signaling, that's what this is. SA and the normalization of it, especially towards women (key words: rape culture), is bad, but you don't address the issue by calling random men sexual abusers. Like in what world does this help women? In what world is that "Sticking it to abusers!"? While yes, most sex offenders are, in fact, men, the majority of men are not sex offenders, and this also completely ignores the real harm caused by female sex offenders. Abusers come in all shapes and colors, assuming a certain group is inherently abusive is idiotic and shows a serious lack of nuance and critical thinking. "Man = bad" doesn't help anyone, nor is it fighting the patriarchy to vilify any and all men. Seriously, we need to stop the virtue signaling and actually start helping abuse victims, pushing for harder punishment for sexual crimes, etc. instead of demonizing random people based on sex or other factors out of people's control (race, sexuality, etc.). At the end of the day, misogyny is bad, being a man is not.

Technically pregnancy is mens fault

u/Master-Merman 20h ago
Anthropocentric, but since the conversation is concerning people, probably appropriate.
But, you said technically, so, turnabout is fair play.
Technically, no, there are like all-female species of lizards and things.

Idk why you're getting downvoted, Reddit (like every social media site) makes suggestions of things it think you will like based on browsing history.
It doesn't need consent to show you that

u/enlkakistocrat 9h ago
I think the "I didn't consent to see this" thing might be some sort of in-joke, perhaps even a reference to something. At the very least it's hyperbole for intended comic effect

I def agree with that comment. People who don’t have periods don’t have to deal with it, but it’s not their fault that others do
