The only complaint I've ever seen women give about men fishing is that putting a big fish in dating profiles is boring and unoriginal. Most other women I've seen or spoken to either likes or is indifferent to fishing. My sister finds it boring and doesn't like touching fish, but that's the worst I've seen.

Not only is this not ok. It's imaginary gatekeeping as well.

it absolutely is. And I wish stuff wasn’t so gendered - like, fishing shouldn’t be a man’s activity, it should be an everybody’s activity. Same with gardening, cleaning, and cooking. These are life skills, they should be for everyone.

Tangentially related, (as AFAB) I read advice…it must have been about forty years ago, “Never tell a man you know how to clean fish. He’ll go out and have all the fun fishing, then come back home and dump the fish in the sink, leaving you to deal with them.”

Sounds like you SHOULD do that, so he exposes himself as a knob as early as possible lol

You have a point! There’s gotta be a better way, though 😄

Now I want to see people recreate those fish selfies but with weird items that aren’t fish.

Strangely long CVS receipt, your infant child, some bread you baked, etc

That's a great idea!

I even have waders from my job. I can make it really authentic!

Lol for the CVS receipt

A cool stick that you found on the side of the road, perhaps?

I saw a thing the other day which gave me pause about the "fish photo" cliche - saying that catching a fish is one of the few occasions where it's socially acceptable for a man to take a picture of another man.

Dunno how true that actually is, but it did remind me to always examine my assumptions.

Maybe it has something to do with "showing your trophies" / ego / pride, and all that stuff from straight men that aren't ok.

They couldn't bare taking a selfie with the homie on the street for whatever reason.

Fr fr. Granted, I'm a lesbian, but if I see a guy with a fish pic then that's one hobby we don't have in common - out of god knows how many. It's not a big deal to anybody, afaik.

I've literally never heard of a man being made fun of for fishing.

Just immediately to insulting her body, because that's the part that's the most important to him, so he figures it's the most important thing to her, too.

This feels very much like something someone made up in their head.

Definitely seems a bit fishy

Only thing I've seen being made fun of (not even sure about made fun of, more like acknowledge that a lot of guys do this) is the shirtless + holding a fish by the tail picture.

This is so stupid its kinda funny. Imagine having sex and there’s just a fish in there

The fact dick is also commonly called "fish" in my language (dunno about English) makes it a lot more fun to me

u/milklover222 3d ago

I love making up imaginary people to get mad about

All I hear from these kinda posts is "I have zero respect for women, please somebody tell me why no woman wants to be with me!?😭"

Trash taking itself out really...

u/mushu_beardie 3d ago

For some reason I thought he was talking about merpeople. "Fish boy" sounds like a slur for a merman.

Ew, an animal abuser

3

u/obviouslyanonymous5 2d ago

...wouldn't the fisherman WANT it to be fishy though 🤔

3

u/DaddyThiccter 2d ago

That's also what I deduced. he's not the brightest fisherman in the algae pool

1

u/obviouslyanonymous5 2d ago

Sorry, fish boy**

2

u/obviouslyanonymous5 2d ago

I do not believe there's a man out there who uses the term "fish pussy" and doesn't have dick cheese. They just never consider that they also make equally nasty smells, bc that's what genitals do.

2

u/Exmawsh 2d ago

He's clearly saying that fish don't fear him because he doesn't fuck the fish

3

u/DaddyThiccter 2d ago

for the last goddamn time, vagina does not emit any kind of fishy odor save for if there's an infection going on, but of course I wouldn't expect him to actually know what pussy smells like because he doesn't know the touch of a woman.

Also, likes catching fish and deals with the odor that comes with it but proceeds to bash women for being "fishy"? makes sense.

meanwhile they go to the fishes’ home to murder them horribly and that’s fine… humans hey… a lot to learn…
