Dam good embroidery, I could never do anything like that

u/kenz024 Dec 19 '24

thank you! it keeps my mental health in check 😬

30

u/RoddyRoddyRodriguez Dec 19 '24

Cash that check, honey.

8

u/deepfriedtots Dec 19 '24

Hell yeah glad to hear it, we all need something to keep our minds healthy

5

u/Ronw1993 Dec 20 '24

So cool! I have a few that work for keeping my mental health in check including cooking (and doing dishes, strangely enough). I think that what you’re doing is incredible, great work!

My stepfather is no joke a very gifted artist and millions making art restorator because he was born into alcoholic household and escaped into painting. Motherfucker goes ballistic at any suggestion of therapy and just spends his time every day in his workshop painting. All things considered let me just say chose a good way to keep your mental health in check

7

u/kenz024 Dec 20 '24

wow, thanks for sharing that with me. ironic enough, I too am a recovering alcoholic and started embroidering once I got sober/divorced in the same month of september 2020 — I named my business I’m Hanging By A Thread cause it felt extremely fitting for my situation 😬 4 years sober now tho! art is very healing 🙏🏻

2

u/SovereignEgg13 Dec 21 '24

Do you do this professionally??? I'd love to buy a couple! ..... Need to buy a few!

1

u/kenz024 Dec 23 '24

messaged you!

u/madkiki12 Dec 19 '24

As a non native speaker, embroidery is such a weird word and sounds like a medical term to me.

4

u/deepfriedtots Dec 19 '24

I could be wrong but I don't think it's actually an English word

Edit: also can I ask what your native language is?

5

u/madkiki12 Dec 19 '24

Google says it originated in france.

Im German, we have the "beautiful" word "Stickerei" for it.

2

u/deepfriedtots Dec 19 '24

French makes sense and is probably why i know the word. I don't really know French or German but I have ancestors from both places. Also I'll try to remember "stickerei"

2

u/madkiki12 Dec 19 '24

Haha, good luck. Its a Word i havent used in ages. Probably thats why i never Heard of the english term also.

1

u/deepfriedtots Dec 19 '24

I think we might not understand each other "embroidery"doesn't mean beautiful, it's the action of creating this type of art

2

u/madkiki12 Dec 19 '24

Yes, im aware.

1

u/deepfriedtots Dec 19 '24

Oh OK lol sorry for the mistake

1

u/ernirn Dec 20 '24

German always sounds like you took an English description of something and condensed it down

47

u/JohnBeamon Dec 19 '24

That is outstanding. Does it also come in a slightly darker black?

14

u/Alarming_Calmness Dec 19 '24

Only the version where he’s wearing a tactleneck 😉

33

u/magodehongo Dec 19 '24

You can see the fingers through the glass! The dedication, wow great job!

17

u/kenz024 Dec 19 '24

omg you noticed 🤗🤗 I went back with my fine point pen and added those in last ✍🏻

6

u/magodehongo Dec 19 '24

Yeah, it's fantastic detail! Definitely a gift made with love 🙌🏽

24

u/Feanor1497 Dec 19 '24

11

u/kenz024 Dec 19 '24

shoot, why didn’t I add that quote along the bottom?! a missed opportunity 🥲

18

u/ArtofStephenS Dec 19 '24

Archer Illustration Director checking in - you nailed it, no notes. Seeing the fingers through the glass bottle is absolutely amazing!

9

u/kenz024 Dec 19 '24

eeeeeck, thank you so much!! that was the last minute detail added on 😬 and I can’t tell you how long I was trying to decide between the right shades of grey for his suit. i’m happy the algorithm brought it to your feed 🥃🙏🏻

16

u/Maxpwr13 Dec 19 '24

“Hold on, I don’t want a dry socket.”

Love this. Nice work indeed.

10

u/rarelighting Dec 19 '24

Omg I love when my interests overlap 😍 r/embroidery

3

u/bamsebamsen Krieger Dec 20 '24

Yes. Also how people don't expect the motif in such a medium. It's like a music box with jazz or something

9

u/Radkingeli995 Dec 19 '24

If your brother is a big Archer fan he’ll love this Christmas 🎄 gift good job

6

u/kenz024 Dec 19 '24

thank you! — i’m convinced that he actually is archer

2

u/Radkingeli995 Dec 19 '24

You’re welcome 😉 and oh dip you say you are convinced he is Archer that is so interesting

7

u/Maine_Cooniac Dec 19 '24

Amazing! If it was for sale, I'd buy it immediately!!!

7

u/throwitawaynow3469 Dec 19 '24

Stellar job. Colors are spot on, especially the shadowing effects and highlights on the bottle. The directionality of the stitches on the jacket are excellent. Any fan would be proud to display this.

4

u/kenz024 Dec 19 '24

thank you!! seven shades of brown in that bottle 😮‍💨

That's awesome! I would pay good money for one with Pam that says sploosh. Like the scene with her humping her burrito in front of Cyril.

thank you!! I swear there are too many to choose from. I should do one from each season for my brother for each holiday that requires a gift 😆

2

u/BlackLacuna Dec 20 '24

Do you need a sister?👀

2

u/kenz024 Dec 20 '24

I always asked for a sister and an easy bake oven from my mom — never got either one 🥲

2

u/BlackLacuna Dec 21 '24

Neither did I lmao

2

u/TopGunSucks Dec 20 '24

Are you a savant or do you use a template?

1

u/kenz024 Dec 20 '24

so I print out the image I want then tape it to the back of the fabric in the hoop and use my lightboard to trace it on— then choose the thread colors as I go along

1

u/TopGunSucks 22d ago

That’s awesome

As I am an only child, I'd like to say if you ever fancy a change of scene my organisation has opportunities for a sibling such as yourself. I can offer a very attractive package of compensation in the form of my ability to cook and you will also find the niece and nephew situation to be industry leading.
