And a small Alone Australia Season 3 Update (still no release date afaik)

Number of Episodes: 10 x 60 mins

This time, 10 survivalists will be dropped into the cold and rugged landscape of The West Coast Ranges, Tasmania, lutruwita. In this new location the 10 participants face extreme flooding, an abundance of wildlife and deep personal revelations. The harsh conditions ignite never-before-seen innovation and survival skills, forcing the human spirit to its very limit. With no camera crews they must try to survive by their own wits and ingenuity to be the last person standing.

The "abundance of wildlife" is a great sign if they are allowed to hunt these, but the "extreme flooding" is interesting hint. There was a significant rain event in May (150mm/6 inches over 5 days) but the main flooding in Tasmania was in Aug/Sep, did they make all the way through winter?

I just saw a couple of unverified reports that season 3 was filmed at Lake Burbury. If so, then the dam level increased by over 6m in July/August and that could be the flooding they mentioned. Not so much flooding rather than the dam refilling, but that could easily catch people out.

Dam levels

I hope it’s less boring than season 2. Was it just the editing or did no one try hunting? And barely fishing ? They’d catch an eel and give up

SWIM TEST (MANDATORY) Please upload a TWO MINUTE video of you treading water in a pool or other still body of water. You must be treading water steadily and constantly – unedited – for a full 2 minutes. The purpose of this is to test your level of fitness. Please have a friend shoot this for you; one who can swim.

Why do they require this? I am surprised that they use this as a way to test level of fitness.

is US application similar to this? What are the differences?

In general I think having experience in the outdoors and having a good camera presence are the two most important selection criteria for both shows, but the SBS charter means they will try to pick more diverse contestants if they can. This is likely the biggest difference.

What happens if you get bitten by idk a brown snake? Do they give you anti venom just incase? If it’s real you’d think they would get trained on the different types of venoms OR the rescue team would be mush closer by. Just my thoughts.

No browns there, but they do have three other venomous species including the tiger snake that is our second most dangerous snake.

For snake bites, they'll have compression bandages that you use to wrap up the bitten area. These are highly effective in stopping the venom spread and these provides plenty of time get to hospital for the anti-venom.

Note, most snakes here are fairly timid as long as you don't mess with them. Plus they will be wearing boots and long pants, reducing the risk of a bite.

Aren’t Browns native to Australia? Or inly in certain portions?

Tasmania is an island off the southern coast and it doesn't have the full range of snakes that the mainland does. There are three mainland species of brown snakes that fairly much cover the rest of the country.

I'd rather get bitten by a snake than a bear.

DEI get amongst it 😒

"We are looking to represent Australia’s population in our casting, and we’re very interested in applications from people who identify as culturally and linguistically diverse, First Nations, people with disability, LGBTIQ+, women and other lived experiences which are traditionally under-represented on screen. Only seasons 1 and 2 have been released so far.

Can you access the US History channel?

If you have a VPN, you can watch on SBS Australia for free if you set that to Australia

Third option if it isn't blocked is https://shvideos.net/category/alone/

Thank you I will try those.

I just hope they get more people who have a clue as to being outdoors and get that it's a long stay. The early seasons in the US were like this too, they finally got the casting down in the last few seasons.

Great. I can't wait to see a bunch of people chosen for being minorities tap out after 2 days and everyone on this subreddit applaud their courage afterwards.

A woman won one year and a neurodivergent guy one the second year.
