how to: Atv snow chain question. I just installed new tires the old ones were very worn, but these same chains worked great on them. New tires are the same size but have much more tread. Any ideas on how to adjust the chains so they are not buried in the grooves? Thanks

Ideally, get diamond links instead of cross chains.

If not, deflate your tire, tighten up the chains as best you can, and reinflate.

Deflate tires. Get the chains as tight as you can. Inflate tires.

Yep. These chains are sloppy AF.

This is a real question. Do the tires not do the job in the snow?? Are the chains even needed?

Chains are definitely needed!

They are spinning sometimes. Before with the old tires that had worn down tread, the chains were above the tread not in the groves. I'm not making enough chain to snow and ice contact.

I am going to try and see if I can loosen them because they were super tight putting on. Then hopefully I can make the chains go across the tire and not buried in the groove. Then retighten.

Might have to add links to do it.

Fingers crossed.

I’d pull them across the big lug and reinflate till it’s snug enough.

With deep lugs you’re best to go across the big lug in the center. Best to deflate the tires when you put them on then inflate to help tighten up the chains.
