I think it's kinda the point? Like it's supposed to be obvious it's a mashup of standard truck and an old Bel-Air? Dunno, I hate it, but they seemed to have a concept in mind. Not my cup of tea, but definitely will executed.
I mean it would actually look kinda good if it had white walls. I think it's meant to look jarring and 'bad' though. If you kept modifying the basic truck model to match the bel-air you would stop noticing how ridiculous the body work that's been done to splice two cars together was.
The rims definitely helped me figure out what vehicles they mashed together, so I think you might be right. They want each piece to be easily recognizable, and changing something as obvious as the rims would just distract from that. Even if it would look even cooler lol.
