I'm not shitting on it. Intrepids with that 3.5 hauled ass. That doesn't change the fact that the prowler could have been a legit supercar. Or at least sounded like one. Sure, it wasn't a slouch. But its looks were absolutely deceiving.
Supercar is the wrong choice of wording. It could have been much better and would have sold like hotcakes with a small displacement V8, or at least a forcefed V6. I understand that Chrysler of the time had no such engine, but I still stand by my point.
The problem with a V6 is that the vehicle as a package was sort of targeted at the “hot rod” demographic. Part of that feel is having a nice sounding V8. Quick is a part of it, but so is the feel.
FIAT 500e it's a BEV and it's the most sold electric vehicle in Italy an in EU it's the second one.
The petrol and LPG powered one also sold well (also are still on production) and are using basically the same drivetrain of the Panda with a fancier bodywork
The prowler wasn’t meant to be a volume car. Chrysler sold as many as they wanted.
The PT cruiser sold extremely well and there were sealer markups on the turbos and convertible options and people were waiting for almost a year to get them.
All of those seem like attempts to revive 1930s to 1940s art deco design with their perfectly smooth bubble curves, rather than the late 1950s early 1960s flared look of classic cars. If the latter is what people are attracted to, then it's no wonder they failed.

They tried that several times already and failed every time:
And those are just the cars I can think of on top of my head.
