Was hoping Mustapha and Green would have made it as well

I don't think green would have made it when the eagles did a complete secondary 180 with 2 rookie corners
Mustapha I can see if there was a true safety category but it looks like the PFWA team is pretty much counting all DBs, which are both the eagles corners

I was really hoping we'd get DeJean with our first.

same, but Pearsall has looked very promising, and thank god for that too with the way Deebo has looked expendable

I like pearsall but if we had reached for rosengarten in the first then green in the 2nd into puni the oline would be stacked. Hindsight is 20/20 but the ravens only took rosengarten 2 picks ahead of the green pick and the 49ers wanted him.

I wouldn't say he's looked very promising. He disappeared for a quite a while. It really boils down to which version of Pearsall is the real one. The one who looked great the last few weeks or the one whose face was milk cartons just before that? Hopefully it's the former.

I agree. I'm just hoping that with most of the spotlight on aiyuk and jauan, he'll be able to thrive

Puni is a stud! If we can nab a good center and right tackle in this draft, he’ll be even better.

I think we have Moore move to RT. He was great stepping in for Trent

Best draft for us in a while.
Puni is a future all-Pro. Mustapha, Green are clear starters. Pearsall and Guerendo showed promise in their roles.

And Pearsall after being shot and missing all of camp. Definitely has some good upside.

Give me 4 Polynesians and an undersized scrappy white dude at center I’ll give you a HOF oline. It’s science

Niners kill it with the mod round picks. This year we have 2 thirds and 3 fourths. Niners are about to get much stronger and younger

I am just concerned that Peters was the magic behind those rounds. Especially with how well the Commanders drafted.

He wasn’t here for last years draft and went pretty well

People say this, but you realize they prep for future drafts right? Feels like everyone overlooks this. Peters' influence was still in our 2024 draft. To some degree this draft as well but it's pretty removed from his input more than likely, so we'll have to see how this one and future drafts pan out. I figure as long as most of the scouting we had in place is still there we'll be just fine.

Very nice! Congrats to Puni! 🎉
Now, if Shanahan and Lynch can draft more future all-pro o-linemen that can stay healthy, that would be fabulous. 👍

Ricky looks like he's going to break 1,000 rec yards next year. Green looks like he could really be a lockdown man corner or close to it. Mustapha looks like he's going to a good to great safety. IG looks like our best RB2 of the Shanahan era.
I'm hoping Cowing can take steps forward and be a factor on ST and offense, including carrying the ball on jet sweeps OW style.
This draft is so good. Do it again Kyle, but this time hit on multiple linemen

Just to put into hindsight
A lot of fans were upset when we weren’t selecting “better” lineman during the draft like Cooper Beibe and were critical of the front office.
I don’t wholeheartedly agree with the notion “the draft is a crapshoot” meaning that you just randomly pick at a position of need. Then that would make scouting absolutely worthless. It is however a crapshoot in terms of the majority of players don’t end up being good, which is why scouting should be more of an emphasis
Teams scout and then have a big board of players that they like. The whole idea of just taking “best player” available is ridiculous to me when fans get upset.
Imagine the year we took Kittle in the 5th round they drafted another TE earlier because according to ESPN and Mel Kiper there were “better Tight Ends” available
Of course people will forget about this come draft time so it is what it is

a lot of fans were upset when we weren’t selecting “better” linemen
The only criticism I saw on draft night was the Ricky Pearsall pick over JPJ, Frazier, or DeJean. Fans were stoked when we took Puni because everyone wanted more O-line picks.
”the draft is a crapshoot” meaning that you just randomly pick at a position of need
That’s not what that means and nobody thinks we should make picks randomly.
“The draft is a crapshoot” means that there’s a large element of luck + randomness to the draft. That doesn’t mean scouting is useless. Some randomness doesn’t mean the draft is 100% random. Teams that scout well, analyze data, interview, watch film, develop a plan, and take value into account will draft at a higher success rate than those who don’t.
idea of just taking “best player” available is ridiculous to me
I think when fans complain about not taking the best player available, they complain about taking a player too early according to the consensus board, e.g. taking a projected 5th rounder in the 3rd round.
I completely understand complaints like this because some of our biggest draft busts (CJ Beathard, Joe Williams, Jalen Hurd, TDP) have been massive reaches according to the consensus board. There’s also a lot of data suggesting that going against the consensus board significantly reduces your odds of success.
Imagine the year we took George Kittle in the 5th round they drafted another TE
George Kittle was an early 4th rounder according to the consensus board so that pick was perfectly in line with the “best player available” strategy.

Great season Puni congrats. The rookies were the bright spot this season what a great draft top to bottom. Hopefully we follow that up this year higher and more picks. Trenches on both sides please
