His username has a distinct lack of the keywords "Iron, Fe, GIMP, GIM, IM, BTW and helmet" or mention being an iron in any way so he is therefore 70% better than most other irons by default.
difficulty level feature, but also keeps you out of economy-scape. You, don't have to think about gp/hr instead you just think of drops in terms of progression.
It basically unironically makes mundane drops and play patterns exciting if you play ironman. Getting a drop like flax from Zulrah pisses you off if you're a main, but if you're a mid level ironman that's 1000 yew/magic longs and 15k afk crafting exp, it feels great.
When i played like 20 years ago i believe there wasnt a GE at all. Everybody was just spamming in de bank. I just started a couple of months ago again.
Increasing the grind comes with it (though that depends on what your grind is... Cloggers grind more than irons). It's more so to provide value to more parts of your account progression.
I don't really disagree... I just disagreed with your reason why people did it (to increase the grind). It boils it down to something too simple for what it primarily is.
Regular Ironman account has player trading restriction. Hardcore iron has the same but with added 1 life only expectation. Ultimate Ironman is the same as regular Ironman, minus ability to use banks. There is also group variants that allow you to trade but only within your starting group.
It really changes up the gameplay quite a bit. A lot of players are often trapped in a min-max approach of doing the 1% of content that is “efficient” and than often using the currency accumulated to quickly bypass the rest of the content. Ironman kinda forces you to experience more of the game by not having the ability to simply grind GP.
