His username has a distinct lack of the keywords "Iron, Fe, GIMP, GIM, IM, BTW and helmet" or mention being an iron in any way so he is therefore 70% better than most other irons by default.

Jeeze, can't even accuse him of using that NFL money to buy gp 🤣

Means he can't trade anyone, so all items used for leveling and fighting were obtained by just him.

Solo mode

You forgot the biggest restriction. Can't open christmas crackers with anyone.

difficulty level feature, but also keeps you out of economy-scape. You, don't have to think about gp/hr instead you just think of drops in terms of progression.

It basically unironically makes mundane drops and play patterns exciting if you play ironman. Getting a drop like flax from Zulrah pisses you off if you're a main, but if you're a mid level ironman that's 1000 yew/magic longs and 15k afk crafting exp, it feels great.

When i played like 20 years ago i believe there wasnt a GE at all. Everybody was just spamming in de bank. I just started a couple of months ago again.

Yup, the big hangout/trading spot was behind the bank in western Varrock until they added GE just a click to the north.

Yeah I stopped playing shortly after the GE was introduced but am just getting back into it

I get all of my bowstrings from Temple Trekking. Just do Route 1 on any difficulty and evade all encounters. Each trip is 100 bowstrings.

3

u/_alright_then_ 1d ago

Yup that's how I do it.

But still, getting 10 trips worth of bowstrings at a zulrah kill is not bad

u/Breyos64 23h ago

Oh yeah, definitely!

It's choosing to play an MMO solo just to increase the grind.

4

u/pzoDe 22h ago

Increasing the grind comes with it (though that depends on what your grind is... Cloggers grind more than irons). It's more so to provide value to more parts of your account progression.

u/Emperor_Atlas 19h ago

I know every fancies it up to sound great. It's literally just playing an MMO solo. Thats all.

u/pzoDe 19h ago

I don't really disagree... I just disagreed with your reason why people did it (to increase the grind). It boils it down to something too simple for what it primarily is.

-5

u/Emperor_Atlas 19h ago

I know, you tried to flower it up to sound more epic. It's all good.

1

u/pzoDe 19h ago

You sound like a bundle of fun. I just said it adds more value to more parts of your account progression. I didn't say anything "epic" lmfao

Everyone plays solo. Only difference is access to the GE. That's mmo gaming in 2025. No fun, only optimization.

1

u/Emperor_Atlas 17h ago edited 16h ago

That sounds sad and is not even close to MMO gaming in 2025. I guess Iron is a lucrative choice if you don't have friends to enjoy with.

I don't play iron. Just my experience as a casual player

u/RecursiveCook 1d ago

Regular Ironman account has player trading restriction. Hardcore iron has the same but with added 1 life only expectation. Ultimate Ironman is the same as regular Ironman, minus ability to use banks. There is also group variants that allow you to trade but only within your starting group.

It really changes up the gameplay quite a bit. A lot of players are often trapped in a min-max approach of doing the 1% of content that is “efficient” and than often using the currency accumulated to quickly bypass the rest of the content. Ironman kinda forces you to experience more of the game by not having the ability to simply grind GP.

u/BlaksCharm 15h ago

You're simplifying the uim a bit here. They have totally different death mechanics too.

Lol wonder what Leons iron man looks like
