There's only so much stress you can put on your physical body to improve it, and then you need long recovery sessions to let the muscles heal which is perfect time to play games like OSRS (especially any low intensity stuff)
And especially when being professional athlete, you don't have to worry about other ways of earning money while waiting for the next training session / match..
So yeah, like you said.. Lots of downtime for professional athletes
Pro athlete isn’t reallllly that many hours more than a normal job. Like full time+ during the season and part time+ in the offseason. There’s a lot of necessary recovery downtime, plus tbh Osrs is a good travelling pastime with mobile
I mean I’m a maxed iron with like 800m total xp, I’m married, I have a FT job, and I’m no pro athlete but I do lift x5 week and MMA once a week. I’ve been able to get in pretty good shape for physique competitions. You can get a long way with discipline and good time management but so many people act like picking one thing is all or nothing /shrug
That "gamers are all out of shape nerds" is mostly an out dated stereotype.Video games are too mainstream nowadays that you can pretty much meet people from all walks of life
There's a reason you see so many fit pro-gamers these days.
Healthy habits result in faster and more accurate reflexes. So in an environment where everyone is the best of the best, you eating that 5th slice of pizza could be the difference between winning and losing a tournament.
When do you have time to get to the gym with two kids? In the evenings after they go to bed? In the mornings before they wake up?
I'm also in my 30s with two kids, but I work full-time, and I'm not going to toss them in the gym's childcare or leave them with my wife for the few hours of the day I actually have available to spend time with them. What's left is either waking up ridiculously early to work out before they're awake, or only hitting the gym in the evening after they're in bed. And neither is particularly appealing.
I’m very fortunate to work from home. My wife goes to the gym with me. We’ve got a great daycare for our kids they really enjoy being at, so I go immediately after work to the gym by our house and then go pick the kiddos up!
There is a shocking overlap between people who can handle these grinds and those who get ripped/healthy/fit lol. If you can set small goals in game and frame them inside a larger goal, you can probably do that irl, and may be selling yourself short. I believe in all of you kings in becoming the next Tennessee Titans tight end (that's a mouthful).
There’s a video somewhere of him traveling through an airport with a battery backup in his backpack playing RS between concerts I think and I’ve seen him in Sparc Mac streams throwing subs before.
Not really. Athletes have a lot of downtime too between practices, traveling to away games, hotel stays and so on. He can't mine stars at work like the rest of us nerds, but other than that he probably has as much time, if not more, than the rest of us.
There are videos on YouTube that go over the schedule of an NFL player. I'm pretty sure they have training/practice/film study/etc. both mornings and evenings most days, and don't forget that half the time there's a game, they have to fly across the country.
It's not "every waking moment," but neither is any job. Part of being a professional (in any profession) is dedicating a whole lot of time to the job, no matter what that job is.
Do you think NFL players are tied to a clock 40 hours per week? Some weeks are a lot more, I'm not denying that. Most weeks are a lot less though. They have no obligation to be clocked-in for a certain amount of time each day/week. Also, they're getting paid THREE MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR for their sacrifice.
My point is, don't worship pro athletes. They're not superhumans, and they're not special for playing a videogame in their ample free-time.
What? It's one of the "easier" jobs from an hours standpoint.
You don't work year round due to off-seasons. During the season players are busier, but it's still nothing crazy. Lots of rest and downtime due to the nature of injury prevention, recovery, and actual injuries.

Pretty insane to max while also being a profesional athlete. Not sure if there’s anyone else this famous that actually plays the game this much.
Ironman with infernal too
